The story about Kogane High turned out to be false. Asahi Weekly put the release of K-ON! uniform and the introduction of new school uniform to Kogane High in the same paragraph, but the two stories are unrelated to each other. I retract the news and apologize for posting an incorrect topic.

The subheading reads "It Originated From Anime. Students and Teachers' Idea -Students' Will Takes Priority. It's Economical and Good For Descipline.-" but the phrase"Originated From Anime" is unrelated to the rest of the lines. I should have been cautious in handling such a low resolution scan.

According to Asahi Junior High Weekly, Chiba Prefectural Kogane High School adopted the uniform of K-ON!. The students of Kogane High hadn't worn uniforms but they decided to introduced one and K-ON! uniform was selected by the students' request. The teachers and the students are satisfied with the uniform because it's economical and made a good effect on the students' discipline of their appearance.

the story below are true.
Saitama Prefecture has also considered to adopt the uniforms of anime which relates to the area such as Lucky ☆ Star and Crayon Shin-chan.

Kyoto Newspaper reported that K-ON! fans have donated 758 items to the old building of Toyosato Elementary School, the model school of K-ON!. One of the classrooms of the old school is filled with such items from the tea cups to the drum set.

The residents in Toyosato welcome K-ON! fans by establishing "Town Revitalization By K-ON! Committee". The chairman Miyagawa Hiroshi said "The sales of the local restaurants and the railway are increased by the visitors from all over the country. We want to raise the movement more."

School uniforms in anime were intended for school anyway. I don't see a problem if the real world adopted it.

Ah, so false alarm.

Also, I'm amazed so many people are disgusted by the idea that a high school could adopt K-ON uniforms. I'm no expert on Japan's education system, but aren't most Japanese high school uniforms like the ones in anime? If so, how is that disgusting? If anything else, anime take their uniform design from real life, and not the other way around...

Oh well, it was a good story.

You're right about the uniforms. A lot of anime/manga base their uniforms on a particular design from the managaka's memory, so they will be pretty similar. Especially a manga like K-On where the design is pretty much exactly how a lot of high schools look (except for the length of the skirt, which they would never be allowed to get away with).

I believed the story, but wasn't surprised when it turned out to be a false alarm either. The simple fact is that a lot of high school girls just wanna look cute. Seriously. When I've talk to students (yes, I'm a teacher) and asked them why they chose to attend this school, many replied, "For the uniform", "The uniform is cute." Obviously, the level of the school comes first (or its record in a certain sport), but when there's a choice of same-level schools, the uniform is the next consideration.

If a school adopted a uniform from an anime they'd get a lot of students applying for entrance exams. They'd also get a lot of creepy otaku too, however, so it would never happen.

It definitely is pretty normal, I just find the idea of a school taking its uniform from an anime really really sad. It certainly didn't seem like it would be something that would actually happen too.

Probably more disgust towards the choice of K-ON and not a nother of the hundred school based animes.
Or the hypersexualization of schoolgirls. Not much to go on when they just post "Disgusting".
