According to Oricon, the first album CD of K-ON! titled "Houkago Teatime" was sold 67,000 copies and ranked the top in the weekly album CD sales ranking. It's for the first time in Oricon's history that an anime character's CD wins the top in the weekly music CD ranking. The total sales of the previously released six single CDs have reached 600,000 copies.

TBS released special guitar models for beginners reproducing Yui and Mio's guitars.

Not surprising.

My favorite song in the series are actually Ball point Pen with My love's a stapler as close second.

If they got the CD in my country, I'd buy it.

It also include the curry rice song.

Cool, aren't those guitars a little too cheap?
I bet they are not quality guitars. Meaning they are for show & not for hardcore playing.
Yeah, they're being advertised as "light" guitars... which probably means they're going to be bought by people who have no intention of playing them.

Hang them on the wall and accumulate dust. I don't know guitars, but for a display piece, $320 doesn't seem cheap at all

The anime was great, same goes for the music. Maybe not the best of the best, but most songs are quite a pleasure listening to.

Pretty sure the remaining CDs and full album will also score very high on the charts.

And truth be said, Haruhi's second OP rocks too.

I enjoyed most of k-on's music, but thought haruhi's op2 to be kinda meh

You know, they say that they use lighter materials for girls, but do you really think that if this anime had actually happened, that all of they got custom-made lighter guitars? Besides, how many girls are actually gonna buy these?

The music is good, the anime just sucks.... sad we had to waste 12 episodes to finally see a decent concert. FAIL

Duh...fanboys power. Music in K-On! was awful.

I wouldn't say the music was awful but it wasn't good either. (My preference) but to my actual point, it is obviously fanboy power. It is like how some girls in Japan buy tons of copies of their favourite boy bands to support them. It's creepy, and thanks to that they go to no.1 on the oricon charts all the time. It is sad to see a fake band getting such high sales though.
