K-ON! Boosts the Sales of Mobile Phone and Headphones

According to the blog of a headphones shop, AKG K701 was sold out for the first time since the opening of the shop. AKG K701 is a high class headphones and priced 74,900 yen (approx. $750). Mio wore the headphone in the episode 5 of "K-ON!".

Mio used a mobile phone NTT Docomo FOMA D902i in the same episode. It's an old model released in 2005 but was also sold out in the used mobile phone store.

Update========================
Mio's lefty base guitar "Fender JB62/LH/3TS" was also sold out in 2-3 weeks and Fender Japan sent an order to the factory to produce the guitar in the amount of two-year sales.

If Mio buys, say.. Disaster Movie or Meet the Spartans and laughs at them, although they are almost the worst comedy/parody movies I've ever seen in my life, sales in Japan would blast off the roof and it will inspire yet another crap parody movie. The Otakus probably buy it to show off to their friends that they bought what Mio had although they just know the movie is crap and facepalms

What I don't get is why you guys think it was done on purpose.

Maybe the products were just well researched for a more authentic feel. We already know that almost every place in the opening credits except for the school is based on a real place, as is that music lounge asuka went to. They may very well have decided to base the designs on one of the mobile phones an assisstant was using, or maybe when they were doing voice-recording (cos in Japan, when they do the dubbing, the animations not done yet) the booth they used had those headphones, so they went with that design.

It's the same with other shows. e.g. Black Lagoon, every gun is a real one.

If it is on purpose, then shame on them for selling out like Bionic Commando did to Pepsi.
