Mainichi Broadcasting System opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu's Dandadan manga on Tuesday, revealing the main staff, teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promotional video. The anime is scheduled to premiere in 2024.

Tatsu began drawing the action supernatural manga in Shounen Jump+ in April 2021. Shueisha published the 11th volume on August 4, and the 12th volume is scheduled to be released on December 4. The manga has a cumulative 3.2 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2022. The fifth volume went on sale on October 10, with the sixth volume is scheduled for a January 9 release. Shueisha is also publishing the manga in English on its Manga Plus website and app.

Dandadan placed fourth in the 2022 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! ranking's Male Readers' category and was also nominated for the 15th Manga Taisho Award.

Synopsis
After being aggressively rejected, Momo Ayase finds herself sulking when she stumbles across a boy being bullied. Saved by her rash kindness, the occult-obsessed boy attempts to speak to her about supernatural interests he believes they share. Rejecting his claims, Ayase proclaimed that she instead is a believer in ghosts, starting an argument between the two over which is real.

In a bet to determine who is correct, the two decide to separately visit locations associated with both the occult and the supernatural—Ayase visiting the former and the boy visiting the latter. When the two reach their respective places, it turns out that neither was wrong and that both the occult and ghosts do exist.

This marks the beginning of Ayase and the boy's adventure, as they attempt to fix the surreal, supernatural, and occult elements around them to return to a normal life. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

love me some science saru anime, here's hoping the adaptation goes well. :)

I'm not a Mappa hater but I'm happy they didn't get this one. It'll be fun to see a shounen series with a different look to it, I like the kinda flat colors better over anime with a lot of digital effects overlaid on top.

I hope there won't be any pretentious overthinkers for show about looking for missing balls with youkai vs aliens.

The description seems pretty interesting but so far I haven't liked anything that came from Science saru (except Heikei Monogatari which was still very confusing), it just ends up being really abstract and weird.
I read the first volume last month, it's actually really good and the main duo has great chemistry.

As for Science Saru, have you watched Keep Your Hands Off the Motion Pictures Club? The first episode is also really good, I'd say give them another chance with that show.

i hope the PV is not preanimated because its too good

plus new fans will be happy if its like that in the PV too on model always and have smooth animation best of both worlds for them but that kind of animation needs a lot of production time so im not expecting it to be that consistent in later episodes

if its 2 cour i hope its split cour to have some enough production time
Indeed, let's just hope for the best.

Time for me to finally read the manga then I guess

@tragedydesu tbh that tag is a bit of a reach. The romance between the two main characters is actually really well done, one of the better handled romances in a 'battle shonen' series in a longgg time. I recommend it!

Good. I don’t enjoy manga that much at the moment, but maybe I’ll like it more when the anime comes out.

That it would become an anime was just a matter of time, now Sciense Saru? I really didn't expect this. :3

I remember reading a few chapters and then I stopped, looks like it's time to pick the manga back up. Looking forward to the adaptation.

Finally!!! Can’t wait for this.

@Zipzup3781 I didn't say it would be a bad anime, just that the "studio has no influence on it" argument made no sense in this case.

Let's fuckin gooooooooooo

@RobertBobert in pv I thought they only changed colours a little bit, though they’re practically the same as on covers of manga. And night scenes (I’m talking about first building scene and Ayase’s kick scene). Body colours reminded me of monogatari movies artstyle, and they seem to stick to original artsyle of monsters and humans.

Person in charge of monster design designed mp100 characters and for character design it’s inuyashiki’s and shingeki no bahamut’s designer.

Person in charge of script also worked on CSM and JJK, we already know that they saved original story literally showing plot from every panel of manga.

Director worked on devilman and some episodes of shows of this studio before, but it’s seems to be their’s first time work in that position. Idk if it’s a good decision or not, but we’ll see.

Also by their art for this anime we can see all monsters from original manga and it’s in artstyle of original work, like literally looks like cover from original work.

Overall, I have a hopes, but we’ll see everything we need on trailer. Though, shueisha started to really advertise this manga, as I can see, they even sponsored gigguk. It’s somewhat very popular right now in japan, but by actions of shueisha with their manga plus app and everything else, they might start actively working towards western audiences imo, maybe they realised how big it is outside of japan and how much more money they can get, so I think they might (and probably will) do something if this anime will be trashed on the internet.

So if analysing by actions of shueisha towards this manga and stuff working on this project, it is REALLY promising. And they for sure will not let one of their top manga turn into trash because of mid adaptation. So even director might be talented young dude (hopefully without weird aesthetic ideas)
