'Darwin's Game' Unveils First Promo, Staff, Additional Cast

The official website of the television anime adaptation of FLIPFLOPs' Darwin's Game manga revealed the staff, additional cast, and the first promotional video on Tuesday.

Staff
Director: Yoshinobu Tokumoto (Comic Girls, Strike the Blood episode director)
Character Design: Kazuya Nakanishi (Granbelm chief animation director, Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry action animation director)
Music: Kenichiro Suehiro (Enen no Shouboutai, Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou)
Sound Director: Jin Aketagawa (Sirius, Flip Flappers)
Sound Production: Magic Capsule
Studio: Nexus

Shuu Miyama, writer of the FLIPFLOPs duo, is in charge of the screenplay and series composition. Miyama is also known by the pen name Ginko.

Ryuuji Maesaka: Taku Yashiro (Domestic na Kanojo)
Sui/Souta: Yumiri Hanamori (Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho)

The anime will begin airing on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, Yomiuri TV, TV Aichi, BS11, and AT-X in January 2020. AbemaTV and other online services will also stream the series.

The manga is interesting, it has Death Note vibes at the beginning: cops have to dig out the secret behind mysterious murders.

It also uses Survival as a theme, not just a plot device. There's a lot of species-related stuff in it. Basically, the characters have to survive like animals do.

I do like the manga... but honestly, this trailer announces nothing good. I've wanted an anime adaptation for years now... and in the end, I feel it's gonna be a huge fail.

Shuka is best girl.

That said, manga is pretty interesting. It's got powers and death game attributes, which are fun. The trailer looks... kinda meh. It's like they put a horror spin on it, which is passable in the beginning, but doesn't get me hyped. Can't really put my finger on it... we'll see how it goes :p

Trailer doesn't show much good direction. There's also some guy I haven't seen in the manga who's shooting knives or something. Are they going to rewrite everything?

Seems fairly bland as a whole really, I’ll maybe give it a shot if there aren’t too many upcoming Winter shows to keep up with.
