Seiyuu Yuuichirou Umehara Hospitalized

Seiyuu Talent Management Company Artsvision has announced on Thursday that seiyuu Yuuichirou Umehara is currently being hospitalized due to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM). He is currently trying to get well as soon as he can so he can get back to work.

Umehara voiced Mitsuhide Rouen from the Akagami no Shirayukihime series, En Yufuin from the Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE! series, Kyouji Takajou from The iDOLM@STER SideM, Dai Murase from Tsukipro The Animation, Kuroo Hazama from Young Black Jack, and more. He currently voices many roles, such as Izuru Minezawa from Caligula, Ken Wakashimazu from Captain Tsubasa (2018), Goro from Darling in the FranXX, and Hajime Sugimoto from Tada-kun wa Koi wo Shinai.

This took by surprise and even now I can't believe this has happened to him. I have been following him since 2014 as Wakasa and I was still following him as Goro, he is talented and such a sweetheart, I hope from the bottom of my heart for him to recover soon!

I will continue to pray for his good health and for a full recovery for him! Please Ume-chan stay strong, if not for us fans do it for the people who know you in real life and love you, and do it for yourself.

Ume-chan strikes me as a soft boy, really honest and serious. He deserves all the good things in life and I'm sure he will make it through these hardships. I can only imagine how scary it must've been for him.

I hope he recovers soon enough before his main roles this season starts to get replacements. I think he's the only one for those characters.

Damn this sucks, I hope he will recover and made a comeback into the industry. His portrayal of Goro made him a very lovable character especially for me and I hope his replacement for DarliFra will not let his all his effort go to waste while he recovers.

One can hope "indefinite" is not as worrying as it sounds

It says right there, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis. I did some quick googling, it's a neurological thing, quite similar to MS disease. The symptoms sound pretty horrible, it's prone to renew and getting better usually takes from two weeks to a couple of months (depending how bad it was to start with) but supposedly 70-90% of the patients recovery fully. Let's hope our Ume didn't get the worst load and won't experience any permanent damage ;_;

I'm really a fan of his voice especially when he sings, because his singing voice is somewhat similar to my favorite Utaite singer Itou Kashitarou. Hope he gets well soon

I wonder if he already voiced Goro for the next ep. It would feel weird to have someone else.
Like when VA for the trainer in HQ died and for the last ep they used someone with so much different voice, it felt unnatural.

Really enjoying his voice acting as Hajime so far in Tada-kun. He is also voicing Makoto from Amanchu! Advance and also supposed to be voicing Enshou from Shirogane no Tamashii-hen 2 and Goblin Slayer from Goblin Slayer.
