At the "Kinrou Thanksgiving Festival" event, which took place in Tokyo on November 23, a new TV anime project of the Garo franchise was announced. Two live action films titled Garo: Kaminokiba and Garo: Tsukiniji no Tabibito for "Ryuuga Dougai" and "Raiga Saejima" live-action series, respectively, were also announced. The live-action series Zero: Dragon Blood starring Rei Fujita will premiere on January 7 at 1:23 a.m. via TV Tokyo and its six affiliated stations, BS channel, Star channel, CS channel and Family Gekijou.

Garo is based on the midnight tokusatsu show. Tokusatsu is a genre of live-action that uses special effects. It received its first 24-episode anime adaptation by MAPPA in October 2014, with directions by Yuuichirou Hayashi. A new 23-episode adaptation was broadcast in Octover 2015 with directions by Atsushi Wakabayashi. The first anime adaptation received a sequel movie that premiered in May.

I kinda hope this could take place another 17 years after Honoo no Kokuin (even though it doesn't say it's a sequel), and they make it about Roberto, Germans son so the original cast still features, but aren't the main focus since there story is probably complete after the movie.

Otherwise I just hope we have more interesting characters like the first series, and better time period

Why they just don't make a second season for Honoo no Kokuin? That shit was AWESOME !!!

I'll probably check this out. It might be good.

More Garo is always welcome.
But please, make it medieval times.
Not with some random Japanese era.

as everyone said, dont be another crimson moon, the first garo anime was actually one of my favorite modern anime and i even went out and bought the blu rays for it when they released here, if its anywhere to the quality of that one then ill be ecstatic.

I wonder if this one will be a historic anime or if it will follow the live action's footsteps as a modern setting. Frankly im kind of ok with that one though id prefer historic.

I can only agree, the first anime was really good and I hope this show is of similar quality.

Even if it's just slightly better than Guren no Tsuki, I'll be happy. Please don't let it be the same level as GnT, or worse (oh goodness I hope it's not worse). It might be a long shot but I'll remain hopeful that this could reach the level of Honoo no Kokuin.

I'm praying that it doesn't become worse than the new one we got (GnT), and yeah I do have a bit of hope as well, and I hope it is better (though the only thing I liked about GnT is the OPs, ngl they're good from JAM Project stances)

Yes, Guren no Tsuki was bad, incomparable to the first season imo in almost every category. Still, I'm happy to hear more Garo getting anime.

Still can't wait to see the movie on BD soon.

I think even trying to compare the two is hard as hell due to how Guren no Tsuki's execution wise and just everything else for it was just overall weak and horrible.

I'm still happy about the news myself too, however I'm still skeptical about it ya know?

Please, do not let it be another Guren no Tsuki or worse... because oh my lord I hated Guren no Tsuki. I actually liked the original Garo series but after the new one I am pretty skeptical about this one.

I'm hoping it'll be at least as good as Honoo no Kokuin. I don't think anybody wants another Guren no Tsuki... oh boy...

After Crimson Moon I'm wary.

For the love of God, please don't let it be another Guren no Tsuki.
