Maho Matsunaga Leaves StylipS Unit and Ends Seiyuu Career
The Style Cube management agency announced on Monday that seiyuu Maho Matsunaga is no longer a member of its talent roster as of May 20, 2016. A notice posted on her official blog also stated that Matsunaga is ending her seiyuu career and plans to continue to work in DJ performances and other activities.Because of Matsunaga's departure, the seiyuu unit StylipS will continue as a three-person unit of Arisa Noto, Moe Toyota, and Miku Itou. Toyota and Itou also currently belong to the two-person unit Pyxis, which began its activities in May 2015.
Matsunaga made her seiyuu debut in 2010 in Hanamaru Youchien. She joined StylipS as an original member when it was formed in 2011 and remained a member with Noto when Yui Ogura and Kaori Ishihara left the group in 2013.
Style Cube will close Matsunaga's official blog on May 31.

Disbanding an idol group (like in Trident) and leaving an idol group are normal. Also quitting a seiyuu job is common. But quitting both VA job and idol job at the same time is not that common. I believe she quit the idol job because she quit being a VA. That idol group is a bunch of VA's after all. It's awkward to have a member who quit VA that stays in that group. And maybe the mgt of Stylips does not allow non-VA's on the group. I believe she quit being a VA because since she is doing alright in DJ-ing, she (and her manager) thinks she will be more successful in DJ work if they work full time there than to continue to wait and audition in an ultra-competitive VA job especially when she continued to fail to get into auditions (assuming she tried, and the last audition she passed was on 2014, I believe) and her main job in Love Live is gone since that anime ended.

Seems rather out of the blue that she leaves her singing and seiyuu career to pursue a career as a DJ. I definitely enjoyed the whole of StylipS, so I wish her decision well.

This happens all the time. One of the members or whole group go their seperate ways. But ending your seiyuu carrier is another thing. I hope she won't regret this decision. I wish her a good luck.

I'm still confused as to why she would leave a successful and improving career in both voice acting and singing to be a fucking DJ of all things. Like the pay is neither steady nor good. 80-100 bucks a night IF you get a gig and IF you don't suck maybe? For someone who's not big time famous in the EDM scene at least. And I mean, she's a seiyuu and singer, but she's not the most famous or recognizable person around. She cant just throw her name around like "I demand $400 for this performance...do you not know who I am!?!?!?!"
Idk, just seems like a rushed and untimely poor decision. If it's a big passion of hers or something then by all means you should always pursue your passions. But you probably shouldn't leave both of your paying careers BEFORE you've established yourself in your new one.
