Dragon Ball Cast Update

A new role has been cast for the live-action movie version of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball. Randal Duk Kim, best known for his role as the "Key-maker" in the second installment of The Matrix series, will play the role of Gohan (the one who raised Goku, not Goku's son).

The rest of the cast for Dragon Ball (that have been announced) are: Justin Chatwin (Goku), James Marsters (Piccolo), Emmy Rossum (Bulma), Eriko Tamura (Mai), Jamie Chung (Chi-Chi), Joon Park (Yamcha), and Chow Yun-Fat (Master Roshi). Shooting has already started, and the movie is slated to be released on August 15th.

i was under the impression that DB popularity had peaked some time ago and that interest was all but mediocre nowadays. Guess this proves me wrong =/

This picture was posted on Iwatchstuff.com and Edward French's website and probably a load of blogs too, but its only a body shot, with the facial makeup obscured.
Its the only picture I've seen so far.

hmm, this may be a stupid question...but isn't Piccolo supposed to be green? I never saw him looking like Batman, but it may be just me

With Chow Yun Fat being in it, I can't wait! LOL! XDXDXD

I doubt it would be a failure though lol well i hope it wouldn't be lol xD

Considering the casts to be well... umm pretty famous i don't think it would be such a bad movie lol and with it being American made i doubt the Special effects would be krap too lol soo I'll be looking forward to this lol! XD!!

I'm really worried about this movie. When I saw the 3rd Matrix movie I knew there would be a DBZ live action movie because technology would permit it at this point in time. However, the story seems to be awful and if they get the characters wrong then there's no way that I'll buy this when it comes out on DVD/Blu-ray.

I was at The Borderline in London where James Marsters did a Q and A session before his music gig, and he sounded like he really enjoyed working on it despite saying he thought they were trying to kill him (he did his stunts himself), and talked sounded enthusiastic when mentioning DB and DBZ.

While talking about the DB movie he also said he's signed on for three of them, while saying if there were going to be more, he'd want to sign on for more.
(He used nine as a throwaway number, but I don't think I'll attempt to paraphrase the comment as I can't remember exactly what he said :()

How so? well besides the monster suits, Goku's hair in the movie reminds me of the Fonz

Anyway back ontopic, I'm looking forward to this, I don't expect it to be good, I expect it to be over the top action done funny like all of Steven Chows recent films (his old stuff is pretty good too but not so much over the top action...well except for that Terminator scene in Fight Back to Highschool 2).

Have any of you guys seen the production pictures yet? The only ones out so far are of a "Highschool Goku" (Orange Sweater, Highschool bag, looks more like older Gohan) getting hit by a Bumblebee Movie Style look alike.

.... im gonna watch it. the transformers movie was kickass. im just keeping an open mind about the dragonball one. im pretty much going to see just cause its dragonball and all xD

i agree, although i doubt the dragonball live-action theme is going to work out, if stephen chow is producing it, it'll still be a decent movie and probably a big hit >.> but i really hope it doesnt turn into a big flop >.<
