I was always intrigued about that. Does Oricon counts specialized shops, like Kyo Animation shop or Toei animation shop?
And if it doesn't, does this shops have even a relevant number of disk sales?

You can always look at this list to see what stores/POS Oricon covers:
http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/about/

In regards to the KyoAni shop, it probably accounts for much more if the series is a low seller (sub-2k or so). If it's a high seller (10k+ or so), then the majority of sales should be most likely from Amazon JP, Animate or gamers.

Interesting, CDjapan, yesasia counted, but no amiami or studio stores.
Stores from PA works, KyoAni, Toei etc have some special merchandise, so maybe fans will eventually move toward these studio stores. Not sure if these stores are a new trend or existed forever, but no Amazon 15% commission or forced sales is nice for them.
Why would some shows like Musaigen not start with LE? Is that a kyoani thing?

KYOANI FINDS A WAY!

SOLD OUT at their shop, I don't think oricon covers that.

so does every loss of it. it goes both ways. if the show given profit, they get more than most studio, but if it loss, kyo ani also pay more than most studio. it's like double edge sword. the problem we will never know kyoani actually make profit from it or not.
ya but they also have their own store. then they are selling their own light novels.

i doubt with this model they will be doing much losing.

Their store doesn't account for that much. It's not very big. The LN hasn't ranked once though. The only LN to ever sell enough to rank was High Speed and that didn't even sell that much either.

And obviously this model works for them, seeing as they produced more hits than failures, but if they kept producing failures this certainly would not stick around. If they didn't have Chu-2, Free! and Hibike to bank on they wouldn't be pulling high risk adaptions like these originals.

Do we even know how many copies were made? If the production were low due to lack of demand then it's not that surprising for it to be out of stock.

It's not a re-release. It got a sales boost somehow, because this BD has charted for 151 weeks now with the release date of 2009/04/16, according to the data from Oricon Youtaiju.

Hyouka sold rather well didn't it?

Hyouka sold over 20K (10K+ for original release and another 10K+ for re-release).

I'll bet "A silent voice" will do well too. It's high time they served some proper food with all that eye candy.

The people involved in the movie make me believe it will be nothing short of an amazing movie.
