Mini TV Anime 'Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi' Airs in August 2016

A stage event at AnimeJapan 2016 has announced that the previously announced new TV anime of the Nanatsu no Taizai manga will air in August 2016 for a total of four episodes. A key visual for the series has been unveiled on the official website.

The new series, an original story by mangaka Nakaba Suzuki, will be titled Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi (The Seven Deadly Sins: Signs of Holy War). Animator Keigo Sasaki returns to create character designs for the series, while other lead members of the production staff have changed.

Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi will air on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. on the MBS and TBS networks.

Just think of this as a low budget Nanatsu no Taizai movie, and like all other shounen movies it has nothing to do with the manga. It makes sense to do this, especially if Arslan only needs 8 episodes to finish off the current arc.

It keeps Nanatsu no Taizai in anime viewers mindspace, will give a small boost to manga sales and give enough space the manga to get enough material for season 2. Which could air after Iron Blood Orphans 2 in Spring 2017.... if it did that would be over 110 chapters before it even aired....

Expected an original story due to the weird alternate ending they gave the first season.

Not sure what to expect since it's an original story so I'll go in with low expectations.

Also, I completely skimmed over the "4 episodes" part. What the heck lol

Misleading as hell. There's enough content for a single cour atm, but I can understand them not wanting to do it. Surprised they're not just animating the extra chapters like the vampire arc and stuff, could have been a nice introduction to Escanor for anime viewers since that is where he was first revealed.

Better than noting

From what I heard the 1st season adapted around 100 chapters. Maybe they will wait for another 100 chapter before making 2nd season

I'm glad that it's not a second season. Not because the series is bad, but because that will give A1 Pictures more time to adapt properly the manga unlike the rush of the first season.
