Magdala (and any work from Hasekura sensei actually ) is kind of boycotted by the japanese fans due to an "internet scandal" in sept 2013 AFAIK. I don't know how much influence this have on the sales (maybe extremely low influence after all, but it seems like the author has been keeping a low profile in medias since then. So selling more may be a bit difficult.
What kind of scandal?
i didn't follow in detail. I know peoples even went to his twitter account to insult him following that event (and insulted him again when he choose to not answer them), and some of the comments for Magdala volumes on amazon were talking about it.
Since that day, Hasekura Isuna sensei has left completely his twitter account. It's stopped at 09/10/2013.
It seems that some of the things he said/some opinions he had really caused an uproar in several places and some comments on amazon are even protesting that those books shouldn't receive a boycott.

Definitely. His stories have many characters he cannot handle and many relationship he cannot handle well as well. And sice he doesn't take time to stop and think about how to handle them before and after creating those situation, the things are only getting worse.
Minoru Kawakami writes even more than Kamachi but his average level is way higher IMHO. Although he is less successful commercial way.
And back on topic. I really hope Magdala de Nemure had better sales or at least translation go faster.
Kawakami has the ability to handle what he writes despite the high complexity of the world building and the absurd number of characters in his stories. He's also a long time planner up to absurd level (knows what he will write about the character thousand and thousand of pages before he actually writes it - more than 20k pages before writing it, actually, yep, ridiculous level I told you), and has the ability to write well despite the speed.
Kamachi doesn't have any of that. He's not planning anything and just go by the inspiration of the moment, is unable to handle what he created and cannot write well AND fast at the same time ( this becomes hit or miss with like an awful 90%miss ratio).
Akira can handle it too, just like Kawakami. Kamachi should just stop doing that. Well, it sells though.

I'm really glad to see Zettai Naru Isolator doing well. I'm surprised it's beating Heavy Object...
Kawahara is a better writer than Kamachi tbh. (disclaimer: I haven't read any of Kamachi's works in the original Japanese, but Kamachi's weaknesses aren't the sort to result from poorly done translations). From what I've read so far, Isolator is a good story too.
too bad yen press will translate it somewhere in 2016
It's 2016 now you know? Anyway, I'd guess we'll see the English release in the autumn sometime.
what happened yo Yahari ore no Seishun LN
???
It last had a volume come out in June is what happened to it. The earliest another volume could come out now (unless it has a late announcement for some reason) is May as the Gagaga lineup is up through to April.
My thoughts on the rankings:
Good seeing Tada, Soredaka Yokattandesu doing well. From what I've seen it sounds like something definitely worth the read, and probably wholly deserving of the Dengeki Novel Awards Grand Prize that it won.
Grimgar has well and truly taken the second place spot for this season's boosts. Goes to show that a non-rushed anime adaptation can prove very successful after all. As Hataraku! Maou-sama did, for that matter.
World Break didn't make the rankings at all, but then I guess that's what happens when you release two versions of a volume on a Saturday.

The problem with Kamachi is he write too much and expand it beyond what he can handle.

Overall, though, Overlord's boost certainly lasted a fair bit longer than DanMachi's, but it never had such a big peak either.
Ah yes, that's true, I forgot about the importance of the thresholds. Overlord's had to face very mild competition apparently. I believe it had several sub 10k weeks that still ranked in the Top 10.
BTW, when did Oricon start publishing these Top 10s? I also wanted to know how long the big sellers like SAO (when it was experiencing a boost) or Biblia lasted in these lists but I assume they didn't exist back then?
Oricon doesn't count Biblia as a light novel so it doesn't appear on those rankings.
The only Oricon rankings being posted on 2ch back in 2012 were the book and bunko rankings. Even if the light novel series rankings existed (they did post the yearly series rankings so it's not impossible) I don't know where you would get the data from. Incidentally, I wouldn't completely put it past SAO to have been in the top 20 (which we get rankings for but not sales figures) every single week since before the anime started airing, if the rankings did exist.
EDIT: I think Oricon started listing these rankings when they updated their website in mid 2014 by the looks of it.

33 weeks, although the first couple were purely down to a new volume that came out.
Thanks. That's a lot. How many weeks did Danmachi last in the Top 10?
I can't find data for w/c 6th April but assuming it ranked then (as it did the previous week, which had a much higher threshold), then 16 weeks.
However, it's worth mentioning that the week DanMachi dropped out the threshold was 14439. Nothing on the 20833 for the week when it first appeared but way higher than the 7966 that Overlord sold last week, and higher than it sold during any of its last 5 weeks, and indeed much of the autumn. It got really lucky that the weeks it saw lower sales the threshold was always just low enough to accommodate it.
If you apply a threshold of 20k (which the threshold has only been above a couple of times in the last year and thus represents roughly the peak of where the top 10 series goes), DanMachi's run shrinks to 15 weeks (assuming it got that much in the week with data missing), whereas Overlord's shrinks to 17 (and it's never gone back above since).
Overall, though, Overlord's boost certainly lasted a fair bit longer than DanMachi's, but it never had such a big peak either.

But being a good writer has nothing to do with sales, so either way I don't see why you said that.
The correlation between the two is indeed very weak, but that's mainly for getting success in the first place. Once an author has made it big, which both of these have, then they will have a core fanbase who would be willing to give a try to any new work they put out. For the most part it is that fanbase that contributes the sales for both series, rather than new fans brought in by those novels themselves.
The effects of this are, of course, slightly obscured due to Heavy Object's anime adaptation and the fact that Isolator was a web novel long before Kawahara got that all important name recognition.
14位 Overlord
Hmmm, finally left the Top 10. I wonder how many weeks it's been.

Although, if Kamachi was to to take a few months in between his release to properly write them, I'm sure he would be quite decent.
But being a good writer has nothing to do with sales, so either way I don't see why you said that.

lol must be the goblin advertisements cause it's definitely not the series's main characters making a difference.
20. *5,110 *28,181 Hai to Gensou no Grimgar Vol.1
Series though, the advertisements was released yesterday, so even it can make a difference, it can't be show in this week.
