Third Cours of 'Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal' in Production
Following the Tokyo MX broadcast of Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal on Monday, it was announced that a third cours of the series, titled Death Busters-hen, is in production.
The new series will cover the fifth and sixth volumes of Naoko Takeuchi's Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon manga, which depict the battle between the Sailor Guardians and a mysterious organization called the Death Busters. Sailors Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn will also make their debut appearances in the series.
Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Crystal is a new anime commemorating the 20th anniversary of the franchise. It aired biweekly on Niconico from Summer 2014 and received its first television broadcast in Spring 2015.

Could someone please enlighten me? If this upcoming one is the third season/cours, which ones are the first two? I searched on MAL and there's only one SM Crystal with 26 eps... Thanks in advance, kind soul!
The first 13 episodes is the first season and the first arc of the series, Is called the Dark Kingdom arc/season.
From episode 14-26, the next 13 episodes, is the second season and the second arc of the series, Is called the Black Moon arc/season.
Now the third season will probably also be 13 episodes and will probably be called Death Busters.
MAL doesn't have it divided by seasons, because Toei announced the 2 at the same time and there was a generalized confusion about if 2nd season was just the other arc or another series after the break.
I just find it awfully...silly? for MAL to actually have something like "Sailor Moon Crystal" and then "Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3"... but recently not everything is going right on MAL, so I'm not surprised.
Thank you for your answer!! ^_^

Gave up on this after they completely fucked over the first story arc with ridiculous changes(What was the point of them prolonging the lives of those characters seriously?) and forced lighter tone(where are my fucking gruesome deaths, toei?!).
Original adaptation was already a parody of itself and SMC managed to raise my hopes of doing Manga justice and smashing them within 10 episodes.
Also more TOEI QUALITY i guess.
Exactly. It was like "Hey let's change the way the generals were treated in the manga and let them survive" (few episodes later) "Oh well, no idea what to do with the generals. Let Metalia's lazor beam kill them". The Inner Senshi's reaction and finale to that scene blew my mind too. So much about character screen time.

sigh...my favorite season too. Won't watch it, but I do realize that sooner or later I stumble on the screens or even gifs of butchered Outers henshins that used to be the most beautiful ones in the original anime.

I hope this is more like the 90s show and less like the previous season....
Well... we won't get filler episodes, that give us more character development like the old anime did, but I think SMC don't need that as long as Toei focus more on good old, not forced gags/humor and on the Senshi's personalities, to make them not so dull. In SMC they are all like screaming the same sentence over and over, being helpless and useless at the same time and Usagi's mind is only around Mamoru all the f#$%@^& whole time :| As if the friendship part of SM was blurred and partially cut out.
Hope the quality is greatly improved this time around… (≖︿≖)
Sadly I think we'll still get wonky quality, because lets be honest, Toei wants to earn money from the BR/DVD releases ;P And the bad quality wave didn't hit only SM Fans *points at DB Super episode 5 and the last One Piece episodes*. Still I really don't care, as long as the characters are recognizable. Still fun to point out the derp faces and animation quality anyway XD

Arc 3 is my favorite arc, and the original Sailor Moon S handled it so well. I'm worried what Toei will do with this.

And here I was starting to think I would'nt be able to laugh at TOEI's crappyness for a while after Saint Seiya ended (I also get to make a few Ur-anus jokes as a bonus too)
