An official website has opened for the anime adaptation of Itazura na Kiss, Kaoru Tada's shōjo manga classic from the 1990s. The anime will premiere on Japanese television in April. In the romantic comedy story, a high school girl named Kotoko finally tells a fellow senior named Naoki that she has loved him from afar since she saw him on their first day of high school. However, Naoki, a haughty "super-ikemen" (handsome male) with smarts and sports talent, rejects her offhand. Fate intervenes when a mild earthquake ruins Kotoko's family house. While the house gets rebuilt, Kotoko and her dad stay at the home of her dad's childhood friend...whose son is Naoki.

This is an anime that I would definitely watch. I already marked it. I am not a manga reader, so I am not surprised that I didn’t know that such a nice manga was written/drown. I have the habit to read the manga after I see the anime.

Well, even though the mangaka passed away while working on the series, I think it still ends at a pretty good place. I am betting that the anime will be like the Taiwan drama's first season and end at volume 10.

LOL, I see that the summary on the MAL anime and manga entries for this series was adapted from my original summary for the manga that I wrote for my Random Shoujo Manga page ^_^

Yay! ^o^

I have read the first 6 volumes of the manga and it's a great romantic comedy. I also watched the Taiwanese drama as well.

I have to put this into the "We Want to See this as an Anime" club Yume-chan runs in.

I was pretty excited to hear this <3 I haven't read all of the manga, but I liked what I did see of it, so I'll definitely check out the anime when it starts.

Sounds good, I guess I'll watch this one if it's out. I wonder how it's going to end, since it seems that there never was an ending due circumstances... Yah, I'm going to watch it =3

I was very excited when I read about this the other day. Itazura na Kiss is one of my faaaaavorite manga series, and one that I like to re-read over and over again. I also really enjoyed both live action adaptations. Can't wait for this anime, you have no idea :D

Oh, and the character designs for the anime look a bit weird. Well, they are cute, but very weird when you are used to the manga's unique art style :D But I suppose it was difficult trying to come up with the designs XD

Excuse the double post. Decided not to shove comments onto the first post since it makes the actual news page look funky. So yeah...

Itazura na Kiss is a pretty classic shoujo story, so I thought a bit of attention on MAL would be good. We'll be getting an overload of shoujo in Spring I'll have to tell you. But classic shoujo is always good. As stated in the article, this manga influenced titles such as Marmalade Boy and Fruits Basket (titles any shoujo manga reader should be able to recognize). Notice that all these titles involve a girl unexpectedly living with the guy.. she may end up liking. It's extremely long, but unfinished due to the passing of the author. There are a number of live action adaptations already made for this manga, the Taiwanese version of Itazura na Kiss is like extremely popular. >.>
