Third Higurashi Season Announced

The Japanese Animate.tv website, location of the official Higurashi no Naku Koro ni franchise, has announced that a third season has been greenlit for production.

As of yet, no details have been released or decided, but that viewers can expect to see more Higurashi sometime in 2008.

With the exception of a small number of roles on the drama cds all the Higurashi games, cds and anime have all had the same voice cast. I doubt they'd change that.

Since most of the story has already been told the most likely course for season 3 to take is animating the more Season 1-esque extra chapters from Rei, Matsuri and the manga.

Its not all just about the killer lolis, lol. I hope they add to the story well instead of just extending it cuz the story of kai was awesome so they better not ruin it with some half assed attempt of a third season!

Tough I think Kai misses a lot of what I foud so great about Season one it's still great news

this was indeed unexpected, i would have thought that higurashi was going to end with ep 24 of kai... anyways, its good to know that this is coming out in 2008 as well... yay

I just hope that they do a better job than what they did with Kai. Kai was rather lackluster compared to the 1st season.
