Yes! KamiAso, NGNL and GochiUsa slayed the charts (though Love Live annihilated it... I don't watch it so...yeah) I am glad Isshuukan Friends got high sales. I am esp. happy for GochiUsa and KamiAso, two of my favs. of spring season.

Date A Live II's sales are a bit too high for what it was, but I am still happy for the franchise.

I don't know how to feel about Mekakucity Actors (it was nothing as compared to KagePro, but then again, KagePro is something I LOVE) but well, if it presents the slightest possibility for a remake, then its a great thing.

No Game No Life's sales were such a surprise. The series was selling above average before but nothing impressive (4000 copies) but now it made a comeback, and wow 8000+ copies sold.

Its sad to see Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou and Hitsugi no Chaika's mediocre sales poor Nanana and Mangaka-san got a special bad treatment... They deserved a lot more esp. Kawaisou.

This pretty much confirms that GochiUsa and NGNL are going to get a season II. Don't know about KamiAso (the main plot of the game is already finished so dunno how will they make one) but I hope it does as well. Isshuukan Friends as well, hope it gets a season II (though I want Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou to get one as well...)

Poor Nanana... my favorites of each season never sell well in Japan. Le Sigh.

You forgot Dog Days, 2 seasons of 10K sales

yeah, each season has 8k ...
I wonder if we can count some KyoAni anime as moe anime

Disappointed to see NGNL didnt make it this week even tho the cutoff was only 2k
Was hoping for a 10k+ seller from it

After the terrible sales predictions early on (sth. around or even below 3k), I'm really happy that it sold that much.
Though to be honest, the franchise probably would've made profit even if the anime sold below 1k given that the Light Novels got a boost of nearly 1.000 %.

Yeah my friend who follows predictions was convinced it would never go above 6k but I was betting on the 8-10 range. Still, was hoping it would surpass even that. It still might, if the cutoff was 2k it could still have sold 1.6 and gotten there who knows.

^ Otome adaptions usually sell good unless the adaption was handled poorly.

Sidionia no Kishi was an amazing series and the first good mecha since Gundam Build Fighters. I also have high hopes for Adlnoah.Zero since it has some good people backing it up.

Arvgellon (sp?) looks to be another generic mecha, but I'm still enjoying it.

Really not surprised about Captain Earth being poor in sales it just wash/rinse/repeat every episode. I'm mostly just watching it for Teppei, Baku, and Akari at this point.

M3 is shit though couldn't get past episode 6 not even that batshit crazy guy couldn't save it for me.

Sad to see a shit like Asobi, Mekakucity actors, and gochuumon selling that high.

Love live is good but 130400 bd sold is too much

Mekaku City Actors DVD which is the primarily seller thanks to female fans is like 2,000 yen which is about a 3rd the price of a normal DVD and comes with a CD insert and event ticket. Kagerou Projects fanbase is massive on the scale of Love Live's and yet it has only a fraction of the sales when it's first volume is even cheaper. The expectation for this show must have been at least above the 20K if not 30K mark for an adaptation of something so hugely popular and discounted with enticing extras but when you look at the absolutely horrible ratings and criticism the show got from viewers on niconico coupled with it still not crossing the 10,000K mark in it's second week that tells me that people weren't all that impressed with it but are probably buying the first volume anyway for the disc and event ticket.

I don't know if it ever realistically could have matched Love Lives first volume sales but it would have almost certainly sold far far better had the adaptation been deemed at all competent by it's fans. I'm curious if we'll ever learn why that adaptation turned out so ludicrously bad that even diehard Shaft and Kagerou project fans couldn't give it a pass.

As for the others, Kamagami is THE fujoshi show of Spring 2014 and came with an event ticket and I believe ditto Gochuumon which was the moe moe show of the season for that audience. I'm just impressed something like Knights of Sidonia was able to do well at all given how poorly non-Sunrise mecha anime have been selling of late. I mean when you look at M3 sales preorders were so atrociously bad they had to cancel the release altogether and Captain Earth isn't doing hot at all and that's Bones pouring the budget into it.

Wondering how the thread is almost 50 replies long after being only being up about 5 hours. Notices that SolviteSekai is posting in the thread and Rederoin is being defensive in response. Wondering how SolviteSekai is still allowed to post when all he does is thread shit and bait everyone into pointless arguments all the time.

Anyway Love Live has passed the 100K threshold.

Geezus the ignorance is astonishing :O

The studio making it gets paid to do the anime and doesn't get a big share of the profit, the one who commissioned it does but the studio can get a share of the profit if it has share in the franchise, e.g. Kyoto Animation.

Not that this is a wrong statement or anything but I find it funny that a studio that has only been doing it's own in house Light Novel adaptations for less than 2 years now for a grand total of 3 franchises and did strictly and absolutely only adaptations and support work for other studios going back into the 80's before that is the one example everybody always uses in this case. I guess it's probably the most readily recognizable studio to use as example for a site like MAL but on a whole probably the last example I would think of using personally.
