Don't forget the manga of SerSer sold less than one third of Working!! manga though. So from the beginning the fanbase of SerSer is much smaller than Working!! although I do agree that it could have performed better -- I wonder if this is a general malaise that affects almost all titles in this cour.
but I'm pretty surprised by how low Servant x Service's projected sales are with the comparisons to Working!! (and the same mangaka) which sold really well.

Not sure if this has been said already since I'm now too afraid to look at the other posts, but I'm pretty surprised by how low Servant x Service's projected sales are with the comparisons to Working!! (and the same mangaka) which sold really well.

I know I'm going to get flack for this, but you're citing a Kyoani example and from everything I seen they practically don't play by the same rules as any other label out there. It's almost like they have a near limitless amount of leeway whereas others would get nailed to the wall by their respective core fanbases for pretty much the same thing. And we know a shift to serious tone does not always lead to drop in sales -- Chu2byo is a good example.
As I said repeatedly before, what KyoAni could do at most is to raise expectation higher for its coming show but once the show starts they do not really get much leeway in terms of getting people to buy even if they are disappointed. What happened to Chu2byo just proved that people usually make the buying decision for the whole series instead of dropping abruptly in the middle, and it takes some really abrupt and unpopular change in the middle of series (for example the animation took a sharp turn for the worse) for sales to drop abruptly in the middle of the series (instead of the whole series getting less sales).
I didn't mean that as a like, "Oh those Kyoani fans will buy anything" but more as it seems that their releases don't suffer things like 2nd season fatigue or post 1st volume dropoff all that much. An example would be like jmal is always pointing out with the consistency of the Hyouka volumes. One of the only other examples I can think of is Sunrise where second seasons trend up in sales as often as the other way around and stuff like Love Live just seems to have never ending tales.
So yeah I was talking about consistency not blind buyer syndrome. Also Love Live is literally the number 1 DVD now. Who would have thunk it? Sunrise, much as I love their output more often than not there's another company that could share the wealth around sometimes for all the stuff they seem to produce seemingly magicing itself into the top 100 that you wouldn't expect to see there (Tiger and Bunny with it's 30 year old protagonist is just...wow even with Fujoshi support)......though I suppose they contribute back to the industry in their own ways by helping out on a lot of projects like Madoka (though they could have just smelled money and opportunity there all the same) and being one of the few studios I see in a position to and actively trying to develop interest in anime outside Japan first handed instead of through licensing.
Anyway I'm starting to notice a trend where with the 5th episode of a lot of stuff there's a tremendous jump from obscurity to top 100 levels. It's curious, but it's been happening with more than a few things this summer. It's good that a lot of stuff is starting to pick up steam now even if I'm not all that fond of the offerings this season. People gotta feed those families and what not.

I think your definition of good vs. bad is more than a little off there. Anything above 10K is generally considered great. 20K indicates significant popularity. 30K+ you start to get golden. The problem is there's only a small handful of companies that regularly seem to be able to reach these numbers coughSunriseA1KyoanimaybeShafttoobutnotreallyconsistentlycough which is to borrow a term from Hockey culture "tough".

Thanks for the warning, now I'll try not to go back to the older pages. Seriously, it can be astonishing how oblivious people can be to their own inconsiderate actions... If this is acceptable/going to be a regular thing, I think it might help if Symbv put SPOILERS in the title of the thread.

@hpulley I think we were talking about different thing. The drama CD may be not new but the AMAZON special extra, the recitation CD, seems to be new. Perhaps that explains the big jump today?

rather just putting something like "possible spoilers" in the title would warn anyone who might click on the thread that inconsiderate people may spoil whatever series for you. Edit: Or maybe do the opposite, and put NO SPOILERS in the title to remind people? Just some suggestions.
The problem with the report button is I have to see the spoiler in order to report it, and I'd rather just avoid seeing it at all. Also, maybe if they gave news mods the ability to put the spoiler tag in other people's posts then you could fix it.
