According to the press release, the amount of Kadokawa's income from Youtube for November 2008 has reached 10 million yen (approx. $109,000). Kadokawa has an official channel on Youtube and allows the uploads of MAD/AMV by users. The main reason for the increase of the income was the introduction of "InVideoAd", which overlays an ad on a video. Kadokawa said "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya",
"Lucky ☆ Star" and "Strike Witches" are the most popular titles as the sources of the videos.

10 million yen a month....I could break my legs and not work for the rest of my life with that amount....

Try it, you'll see you'd only last for a year max.

109.000 Dollars would certainly last more than a year in my hands...

That's... somewhere around 180,000 NZD. For a side venture like this, that's pretty damn good~ :o

I think we can thank the Hare Hare Yukai dance for alot of that money.

I wish more companies would just do this instead of taking the videos off.

Wow!!!! That's a lot of money!! Anime is expensive!!

Hmm, not bad. AMV/MAD makers can keep their vids on YT while Kadokawa makes some money (the amount of money isn't surprising, but hey, the overlaying ads idea worked), so everybody wins.

No surprises really.

Im not surprised, Haruhi, lucky star, and strike witches always have awesum MADs or AMVs and theres alot of them

Jan 3, 2009 8:21 AM by Icy-nee-san

Wow, that's something you don't hear everyday. Especially 'cause it's Youtube. But some AMVs and MAD on Youtube are pretty well done, it's no surprise that they earned that much.

Wow, that's some real money for a side venture like a youtube channel... Kadokawa own Haruhi so they were always set to make lots of money from this AMV channel thing.
