I'm pretty sure it wouldn't last more than a couple of years after the manga finishes, at any rate.

Do you think it will last that long or just another "short-lived idealism" ?
Dunno.... I lived long enough to witness many news like this, and somehow it didn't last long.

I've heard only good things about Silver Spoon but reading its synopsis it sounds fairly boring. Guess there has to be more to it, though, looking at the sales numbers.

Unlike FMA, Silver Spoon is a Slice of Life story, but it's not anything like the ones that take over the anime industry. It is what Slice of life anime should be.

It's really old school, has a real 'classic' feel, it's the kind of manga you think of when you think of Weekly Sunday.

That depends on what context and what manga you are reffering to, although i understand how you think!

I suppose this manga isn't based on the 1980s US sitcom Silver Spoons, is it?
What is that ? LOL

Sounds like it's time for me to make a manga where people give money and offerings to me. I guess it's good for the school, of course they get the money even if those students drop out.

Looking forward to the anime, was going to read the manga, but I will wait.

should be is the key word. Almost a thirds of the most popular anime out there are Slice of Life.
A well-known fact about Arakawa-sensei is that she grew up on a dairy farm with her sisters and brother. She is one of those so-called "true farmer." That's why her self-depicted portrait is a cow. In addition, the school in Silver Spoon is also in her hometown, Tokachi Subprefecture in Hokkaido, Japan. It is said in her biography that she went to an agriculture highschool, which let people to believe that Akarawa is indeed an alumnae from Obihiro Agricultural High. If true this manga, and the admission increase was a little homage to her beloved highschool.

Hmm. Funny slice of life that's also educational? I thought the synopsis was boring too. But it's a good manga.

Anyways, glad to hear stuff like this. We need to hear it more often. :D

yeah, but can they handle farm living? simply being influenced or inspired is not enough.

Haha, Hikaru no Go really did make me buy a little go board. Not too easy to learn alone, though.

I'm glad. The world could always use some more farmers and other agricultural stuff. Interesting that the school from Gin no Saji actually exists, though. Wonder how similar it is.

Captain Tsubasa = Making people want to play soccer
Slam Dunk = Making people want to play basketball
Hikaru no Go = Making people want to play "go"
Silver Spoon = Making people want learn about agriculture

Death Note = Making people want to... uh... mmm... it is better not to think too much about it.

Wow That manga is very productive. Blessed are those students. There is nothing better than study & pleasure. It's rare to enjoy studying, but they would thanks to the manga.

LOL. More manga should base themselves on real places.. xD

It's great publicity!
