It has been announced that the manga "Gin no Saji" will be adapted to a live action movie, set to be released to theaters in spring 2014. Nakajima Kento, from idol group Sexy Zone, was cast as the protagonist Hachiken Yugo. Hirose Arisu was cast as the heroine Mikage Aki. The movie is directed by Yoshida Keisuke and filming started this month in Obhiro, Hokkaido, which is also where the manga is based on.

The manga started serialization in Shounen Sunday in 2011 and has won various awards including the Manga Taishou in 2012. Eight volumes have been published so far with a currently airing TV anime adaptation that started in July 2013.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

An anime, and a live-action movie as well, I didn't think something like this would happen, but why are they released so closed to each other?

The stout one is actually a good match. I don't watch much japanese movies, but I might take a look at this since I've been enjoying the anime so far.

Enjoying the anime, might give this a look.
Still very surprised they are released so close together. The second season of the anime is scheduled for a winter '14 release. So this will come out shortly after.

I've been getting into SS recently so I'm happy about this. Haven't seen Kento act much but he does remind me of Hachiken.

I will pass this one. I have never been a fan of a live-action movie that also has the anime version.
I like anime.

Hmm... I love Gin no Saji... but most Manga/Anime don't transition well into Live Action.

So about Tamako...

Anyway, I don't see a real problem since Gin no Saji is a very easy title to adapt to live action. Pretty similar to Nodame Cantabile and Hana Yori Dango.

Ahaha that bishi Hachiken. Glorious. And as it's been mentioned, Tamako's actor takes the cake.

Hm, this news probably limits the chances of me seeing more than the announced split season in anime format so I'm not too happy :/
Why must live-action adaptions always grab the best titles :P

Thats nice to hear! The shows premise really does shout 'LIVE-ACTION ME!' so i'm happy we're getting it sooner than later.
Though some of the faces (like the Equastrian club supervisor) will be hard to do irl, so yeah :/

One of the better shows this season too. Lot of manga/anime getting Live Action adaptations lately it seems, wonder if it has anything to do with the huge success of that Yamato one.
