Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei OVA Details

On Wednesdy, software developer Ryukishi07 (7th Expansion) revealed details for the next series in the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni franchise's first OVA.

DVD's will begin shipping on December 26th 2008 (Blu-ray 1 month later) in Japan.

The first of the five volumes will be the "Hajisarashi" story arc, the next 3 volumes (released from February til June 2009), and that's the "Saikoroshi" story arc, and the final arc (released on August 2009) will be the "Hirukowashi" story arc.

Looking at the arcs that are going to be used... I don't think this is going to be all that good... I won't say anything about the arcs, in case it's somehow spoiler-ish, but the second and third are somewhat pointless... Well, at least Saikoroshi-hen is a sequel/epilogue to Matsuribayashi-hen. Hirukowashi-hen is probably gonna be all humor. Not too sure about Hajisarashi-hen, though... all I know is it's from the limited edition version of the PS2 game.

Still... it's Higurashi, so I'll watch it anyways. =P

I'm glad we finally have some news, but to be honest I'm a little sad. I suppose I was hoping for content as opposed to humorous OVAs.

If I was living in Japan, this would be the best birthday present ever. Finally, some details on the new OVA, and from the looks of it, this is going to be pretty sweet. The waiting time will fly by quickly...
