VIZ Media To Publish 30 Volumes of One Piece Manga in Half A Year

VIZ Media announced at Anime Expo 2009 that they will release "One Piece" vol.24 - 53 during the first half of 2010 (January - June). They intend to shorten the gap between the release in Japan and US.

Exactly why they are not awesome. They only do this with certain series and release other series slowly. They are a piece of shit company.

in Indonesia already vol 54 .. published by ELEX Media kompetindo.
its gap 2 / 3 vol with japan releases ...
But for quality of manga, when i got from Viz is more great better than Indonesia publisher.
Believe me, i think its worth got great quality manga for collection but long on waiting better than fast releases but cheap like crap on indonesia manga ...
its true i am live on bali now.
So i know.. its sad read my fave manga like that, and when i read scanlation is more better clean than on manga published by ELEX.

Volumes 29-33 were released earlier this month, and Volumes 34-38 will be released next month.

UPDATE: Volumes 24-28 of One Piece will be released to the U.S. tomorrow (January 05, 2010) :)!

Just when I started collecting too. I was really excited until I started reading this thread and realized they make horrible translations. I always thought the first couple of chapters of One Piece was unbearable because of the horrible translations and now I come to find out they're still going to be doing in in the later chapters? uggg

I hope they do something similar with Bleach. I've just caught up with the manga (volume 27) and it turns out that only up to the point where I dropped the manga a year (or years?) ago has been released in English. There are 39 volumes out in Japan.

If the current pacing remains, it'll take forever to catch-up by buying the manga. Not good.

"l" doesnt exist in japanese, so its technically the wrong translation. and, like slaughterchichi said, its romanized as "zoro" in all the official artwork, just like luffy is "luffy" (even though i guess technically it would be "ruffy")

I might buy the series now. Now that I know I'm not stuck on the poor Alabasta arc. I really hated that arc. It didn't have that One Piece spirit!

And yet Oda draws Zoro's wanted poster with r's. His name is a direct reference to Zorro, so it is actually supposed to be an r.

The reason it was changed to Zolo in the English version (if I recall correctly) was that Disney would sue (or some dumb shit like that).

In any case, as long as it's still ZOLO BERRIES, I'm not paying.

That's just an anime. It's the proper translation in English. There's no reference of an "r" sound in the Japanese language. You just want it to be zoro and be happy with it.

Well, hopefully they bring out the big collected volumes in the collectors art boxes like they did for the first 21 volumes of Bleach, 27 volumes of Naruto, all of Death Note, etc.

I'll buy them when they bring that out, get it in one hit and have some cool collector's art on my shelf instead of just the spines of the volumes.
