It's just so funny to watch how people calling Horizon "shit" cause they just don't have enough brains or patient to get the complicated plot.
well as long the sales and rating are good and we get our long awaited 2nd season (probably 3rd if the sales keep going well)
why bother about some random anon haters opinion?

i agree
and I find it even funier the way they made this show to present that complicated plot
but honestly - it's not the plot that makes some people to call it "mediocre" or "shit"

BTW, should Mai Kuraki's album (#2) (including Detective Conan's current ED) be listed in this week's ranking or next week?
A 1/11 release is this week (1/09-1/15). dtshyk just probably didn't notice it or chose not to report on it.
Thought so. I just remembered about her new album.

Totoro just keeps living on. :)
Naturally ^^=
The Chihafuru sales don't surprise me at all. Congrats to Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, though. I figured they'd be popular. And congrats to Shinryaku?! Ika Musume! <3

Yeah, we're talking about the show that took Kaijis timeslot, and also made by Madhouse. It has all the ingredients for a bad seller.
Granted those estimates (it's on the 900ish end of that range) are just for the DVDs. BDs should be higher, we'll know better with Vol. 2 I think, assuming the thresholds arent as high as they were when Vol. 1 was released.
I mean it didn't sell well no matter how you look at it, it's more like the difference between 900 and maybe 3,000 at best.... but I think it would be more instructive to see how the sales of the manga have been affected by the anime. That's how the Chihayafuru anime can be deemed a success or failure, not on disc sales, which I doubt anyone involved was banking on.
While we don't have BD sales, this is a show aimed at the female fanbase... and most of the time these shows have higher DVD sales than BD sales. I see 1,500-2,000 as the most likely spot it ended up at.

I did try to check the anime's effect on manga sales a little while ago by comparing some first week figures (I should eventually complete the list to make sure I'm not drawing any hasty conclusion, but it should get the point across for now):
vol. 10: 161,373
[...]
vol. 14: 171,785 (Sept. 13 - 19, just before the anime)
vol. 15: 192,448 (about a month ago now)
The increase doesn't seem tremendous, though it may be better reflected in the sales for vol. 16. Added to decent disc sales (at best), this makes me view Chihayafuru neither as a success nor as a failure - the producers are most likely not regretting the adaptation, but I doubt they'd consider going for a second season unless the series was to be adapted into a live-action movie or TV drama series, since NTV seems to pay a lot of attention to these (see Kaiji S2, and arguably Kimi ni Todoke S2 since the timing was the same as the live-action movie's as well).

Don't think they will want to produce s2 with such lackluster sales.
Lackluster? 10k is easily enough for a sequel.
---
And regarding Fate/Zero... it'll probably sell about 50k or so, according to the Stalker rankings.
its the opposite of lackluster
10k in bd+dvd sales means
the show made more than just cutting even. its a big hit
s2 very likely i believe

at least I think that it's pretty good to list as 4th in the Temporal rankings.. right?
Spot in the rankings doesn't really matter. Imagine a really disastrous season where the top selling show did 4k... being #1 wouldn't be impressive. Likewise, being #7 in a super heavy season and selling 8k would be much preferred.
You get the point. What matters is the sales number, and 10k first week is definitely good. Maybe not as much as people might have guessed when they first heard Haganai was becoming an anime (given how huge the light novel series is), but 10k is still good. And using popularity of the source material to predict sales can be very misleading/tricky anyway.
Yeah, its pretty disappointing given my initial expectations. I thought it would be another Ore no Imouto kinda seller, given its another massively popular LN by the same studio. Oh well.
