Actually, Dog Days comes out a week later than Iroha. And Iroha will.

No numbers for Hanasuka? I thought that came out this week as well

Hanasaku Iroha comes out end of July. The only new releases this week were AnoHana and Beelzebub.

That's a tidy little profit for A-1 Pictures. Perhaps Fairy Tail will stop looking like crap...again.

Btw. the sales were expected. It was as hyped in Japan as Madoka. Japanese anime fans even voted it the best anime of 2011 so far on Biglobe (Madoka was second).

Interesting. Personally I would put Madoka and Gintama' ahead of AnoHana for best anime of the year, so far. Although it is very close.

Before Bake and Madoka... 8k for a SHAFT series was actually pretty damn good... would be their 3rd best series if they stay @ that figure.

Nah, I think you forget Negima!? and Hidamari, so it's their 5th.

Oh nah I wasn't counting Bake and Madoka, should've made that more clear. It's just I don't think people should even compare those two series to what SHAFT usually does.

I never said it sold bad, read again. Madoka will still be the big seller for a good portion of the coming months. I was indeed comparing the two.

But you are correct, comparing a good hit to an extremely well off series is unfair.

Keep on chugging Madoka!

I really need to start watching AnoHana...

Not bad, although I thought it would rank higher.

Denpa is understanbly not as big a seller. And KyoAni's Nichijou is oficially a flop it seems. Too bad since I liked it.
Not a good seller? 8000 for Starchild produced shaft series is a big hit. It can easily get second season. Nichijou... lol

Plus, the true value of Ano Hana comes from execution and direction, not the story itself. I honestly find Steins;gate is a better one, but it's 2 cour and already doing plenty of good sales.

Jul 5, 2011 3:54 AM by ringoo4

But doesn't the first disc being cheaper due to only having one episode actually a good thing? I mean sure you're paying more for the rest of the volumes but you're getting more than one episode as well.

It certainly didn't hurt Tiger and Bunnys sales (but that was a total clusterfuck by Bandai) and the discount was nowhere near the extend of Merry Vol 1 (List Price of ¥ 2,699 compared to AnoHana's ¥ 4,200)

As for it being voted over Madoka in Biglobe, it just ended, so I'll be more impressed if it can win an end of year poll when it doesn't have the "it just ended" factor and people have had time to compare and think about it.

Jul 5, 2011 3:35 AM by Westlo

The first AnoHana disc only contained the first episode, thus it was almost half the price of a "full disc" (2-3 episodes). So yeah, the sales will probably drop with the next discs, but they're still awesome anyway.

Btw. the sales were expected. It was as hyped in Japan as Madoka. Japanese anime fans even voted it the best anime of 2011 so far on Biglobe (Madoka was second).
