So......Can someone tell me why exactly Funi isn't or can't stream Fractale?

I was going to watch that one once a few more episodes were out.

Short answer: The producers of Fractale said "no more Fractale for you".

Thanks.

I think the short answer is more "HERP A DURP DUR"
Makes no fucking sense. Take away the only legal method to combat the illegal.

Thats just beyond insanity to me.

They probably thought they still had the option of shutting down any distribution of Fractale while there was still only one episode out. Really though, that's just crazy - there are hundreds of fansubbing groups, and hundreds more p2p networks that all distribute anime to people who can't get it any other way. You can't close them all down, and even if you could and did, most would just start a new group immediately after and keep going. I don't know if the producers of Fractale seriously think they can do themselves good by attacking funsubbers or if it's just a ploy to blame any possible failure of the anime on someone else (though I find failure unlikely, as it seems to be one of the "must watch" anime of the season) but, as I've said before, they really need to stop fighting the wind, and start working with it. If they were to work with a skilled fansubbing group, they could get a relatively well done translation out very early, for less money then hiring professional translators to do all the work. The fansubbing group could get good publicity, from more then just the niche audience they appeal to, and, with a good quality translation of the anime out on the internet, the producers could earn more money from ad revenues (or other ways) from a streaming simulcast on their website.

Honestly though...I think they're just doing it as a matter of pride at this point. I think they don't want to quit because they believe "quitting is losing" and if they work hard enough they can (metaphorically speaking) "push back the tide." But this...just can't happen. Not as long as there are people who enjoy Fractale, and the Internet remains free. And so, they try futilely to prevent something they have no control over, and blame who they can for any (completely assumed) failure on their part.

Well, Funimation bought Freezing. That also means it'll eventually be dubbed and the manga might get published in English.

Still, while I liked Freezing, Fractale is better.

They couldn't have picked something better????

Crunchyroll took pretty much all the new simucasts, Funimation had a deal to run the Noitamina block on its site, Fractale was part of that block. Since the idiots in japan took the show back, this is the hand they are left with.

It'll be fansubbed anyway and uploaded elsewhere regardless of FUNimation simulcasting it...

Can I take that as a "Fuck that, we're not even gonna bother with the fansubbers"?
That just goes to show how unreasonable their request was. Also, they should have stopped the raw providers if they actually wanted to contain the fansubs. No raws = no fansubs so obviously it was their fault more than Funimation. Obviously they realized it wasn't worth the effort and went for a plan B.

I've already dropped Freezing, but even then I wouldn't watch it in dirt quality unless it was 16:9 and Uncensored. It will probably be neither.

Jan 21, 2011 2:11 PM by CL3

Quit Fractale and started freezing? Wasn't planning on watching freezing, but oh well, it's still a step in the right direction. Why'd they drop Fractale again? *checks* ah...the producers making it told them to...anyway, ganbatte ne, FUNi.
