One of the best romance stories out there
Here U are is a realistic depiction of what gay males go through. And the writer Djun actually wrote it while taking his own personal experiences into account.(Yes the writer is a male)
Its not your typical BL where everything is just good and lucky or where you would have a issue of over the top or forced relationships.
One of the main charms of the series is the challenges the main character yu yang faces in order to be who he is. The manhua beautifully potrays his strong willed nature and ... his weak sides(which he hides for most of the time as well) simultaneously
In addition to this it establishes Romance in a very great and believable manner. In other words the bond between the main characters basically develops for a very long time before they become a couple. They learn each others circumstances, understand each other,get misunderstandings, support each other and then become lovers.. The characters also take time to get comfortable around each other and the writer focuses on the side characters aloot as well. There are many ships in the manga including a straight one too.
Here U are depicts the importance of family, acceptance, emotional break downs, psychology, Love, relationships bonds etc. and its a highly character driven story. In other words if someone is looking for good characters, character development, dynamics and a story which deals with social issues then this is the perfect recommendation
The artstyle too is quite detailed. However if college settings and BL are not your cup of tea then u should stay away from it i suppose. Because the only way i can imagine someone hating this is if he or she dislikes Bl in general or finds it boring due to the sol elements(even though its paced in a very well manner)

This is my first review!

So I absolutely loved/love this so much, I binge read it cause I just could not let it end!!!
I love the story, it doesn't feel forced, I love all the humor in it, I like how the relationship's in the manga are shown and how they grow and even the way they show the past trauma's and past relationships. DG did so good, so funny, so silly love all the little easter eggs hidden around.

I LOVE the art style it is so nice. I love the subtly of the derpy easter eggs and yuyangs rings. I love the style of the ... characters and the character themselves, how they grow and learn and take actions.

I was squealing and speaking out loud when I read this XD I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Overall it is a sweet story, very funny and it expands on different relationships which usually I will only want to read and see the MC and the MC's past but honestly did not mind the extra characters and all their stories as well. I actually even loved the side stories it was really really great I loved it so much!!!!

20/10 recommend! especially if you are into BL, it's not vulgar or show's too much it's just super sweet and I love it!

I believe it was my first Manhua and BL story I read and I instantly fell in LOVE with it!
The story is absolutely SWEET! All the characters are just charming, cute, unique and hot by the way, especially the main characters!! The expressions and personalities of these two are just adorable, you just can't fall in love with them!

Like mostly you will see the past love/life stories of all the characters in the story, so, it's amazing to see how they are evolving in their own ways. The main story is long but that's what is so good about it!!! Seeing characters past and present ... you can definitely feel all the emotions and feelings right on the point. You will feel them, love them and understand them!
Basically, the Manhua has many characters to choose from to cheer on in the story, many sad and happy love stories, past trauma's and many hilarious moments!!! The humor in the story is priceless!! XD There are no vulgar moments which is good if you don't want to see it but a disappointment if you want to see the characters on action. The art style is light, cute ant sweet. Nothing more. In my opinion the Author made a super amazing job!!!

By the way, believe me, you will want to see the side stories sometimes even more that the main story because it's just too cute!!! (there were happy tears and screams of pure joy!!! X'''D)

Overall it's absolutely sweet and funny story!! Love the Author art style and humor level, love the characters, love the main story! I LOVE it all!!!! T^T/

I love this manhua.

The story starts off slowly as we're getting to know the main characters and their relationship evolves from acquaintances, to a romantic interest, to eventually them starting a relationship. It's not accepted by everyone, and I like how it showcases both negative and positive atittudes towards Yu Yang and Li Huan's relationship.

I like that one of them is an openly gay student as opposed to many of the tropes we usually see in yaoi and shounen-ai. The story is sweet and focuses on their romantic relationship, but also on relationships with friends, family etc which are just as important. Sex is a ... small part of the story and you won't see much of it, perhaps due to censorship (it is China after all) or perhaps because the story simply doesn't need it.

The main story ends at chapter 137. There have been several side stories published which focus on the other couples from the main story. While they're not all about the main couple, it's still entertaining to read because we've been with these characters throughout the main story and they deserve a proper ending as well.

The art is fantastic and aesthetically pleasing.

So, dear reader, I imagine that you are expecting me to tell you whether this is worth reading or not. But to be honest, I have my own question that I'd like to ask first: "What was the point of Here U Are?"

Well, maybe that question is enough to answer your question, in a way.

Now, to not be misunderstood - Here U Are isn't exactly bad, definitely not. I like that the characters feel as more than just cardboard cutout for BL fanservice (well, most of them at least). I like how it took time to actually develop the chemistry between the characters before kicking ... off the relationship. I like how it acknowledges that women exist, and that the world isn't just full of bishies with questionable sexuality. The art also isn't bad. So, it manages to dodge a lot of faults of your average BL. So, where's the problem then? It's boring. There just isn't much interesting content. The story is on a level of a soap opera. At best, at a level of average romantic shoujo manga (which isn't really that much better than a soap opera now that I think about it). It's obvious that it's more geared towards readers that are okay with style over substance. Any by "style" in this case I mean "WOOOOOOW there are guys who are in love with each other, that's like, totally AWESOME!". Yeah, sure, we get some of the usual "gays have it hard in society", and while slightly better executed than usual for the genre, it still feels like it was included just to make the comic feel like it has more meaning. It doesn't add anything unique on this point, just the same old story seen hundred times in various lgbt-themed media.

Here U Are also has some weird pacing issues. To the point that it sometimes feel like chunks of story was just left out. The greatest offender would be chapter 54 and 55. You see, chapter 54 was actually interesting (to an extent). The character chemistry was picking up stream and the relationship between one of the protagonists and his family looked like it could net some engaging story points. Then comes chapter 55 - it cuts to some completely unrelated event, ignoring whatever was happening previously and letting the previously started story points be more blue-balled than a mod for twich titty streamer. I though that surely I must have loaded a wrong chapter and there just has to be some conclusion to the previously presented scenes, but nope. I think this was the point where I started rapidly losing interest. The story later introducing more couples I didn't care about (didn't care about even more than about the main couple) didn't help either.

In conclusion:
1) Will you like this if you're into BL?
Well, considering it's a BL... I'd bet so.

2) Will you like this if you don't like BL/don't care about BL?
Unlikely, but as it doesn't have explicit scenes (if you skip some of the later extra chapters that is), feel free to give it a try. This is among the better boy's love titles, but if you're familiar with the state of average boy's love title, you know that's not saying much.

Coming from a Chinese queer person, this manhua features one of the best queer representation in East Asian media I've ever seen.

There is no pedophilia, no problematic kinks, and no romanticization of toxic or abusive relationships. That might feel like the bare minimum (and it is), but it's so refreshing to see good LGBT+ representation when there is usually so much gross fetishization and romanticization of unhealthy tropes in East Asian media when it comes to queer relationships.

Most importantly, DJun touches on homophobia, fetishization, acceptance, and tradition in his storytelling - so many important topics that are sometimes glossed over in favor of showing two ... men kissing instead. He details the experience of (and the intersectionality that comes with) being Chinese and gay in a way that I really relate to and appreciate.

In addition, the main love story is a gorgeous depiction of a healthy relationship, and even the side love stories leave you hooked. There is so much rawness that comes with Here U Are as a story; the behaviors and feelings of the characters are so real. It is not all fluff, but it is not all angst either. Everything is incredibly honest to what it's like being in a queer relationship (and being queer in general).

I will say that there is one borderline unhealthy age gap relationship that I felt uncomfortable with in the beginning (between an 18 year old and a man in his mid-thirties), but the author wrote them in such a careful way that made them grow on me.

If you respect LGBT+ people and want to see them represented well in media, I suggest you get to reading Here U Are. You will not be disappointed.

I thought it was an amazing story that I really enjoyed reading, however I didn't like the way it ended. I felt like it ended too abruptly. I would have liked to see more from the main couple after they got together, and more from the side couples, but for the most part my problems with this were only in the last few chapters, other than that i really enjoyed reading it and would highly recommend it. It also has great characters and character development. Another thing I didn't like was the age gap between one of the couples, that big of an age ... gap would have been ok if they were aged up, but one was literally 18 and the other was almost 40; It was legal, but it still made me uncomfortable, and i would have preferred if it was that big of an age gap. Also the main character reminded me of Oikawa from Haikyuu!! and he is one of my favorite characters, so if you like Oikawa you definitely going to like Yu Yang, and I actually didn't like Oikawa but after reading this I really liked him.

I'm quite satisfied with this manhua: I really like the type of drawing, the main characters are both pleasant and appreciable, well written and responsive (each in their own way).
The story begins slowly and the first 40/50 chapters are the ones I appreciated the most along with some of the final chapters: the situations described were very credible and engaging.
Around the middle of the manhua I think there's too much drama (it's still absolutly tollerable) and a trope is introduced - which I think is starting to become popular in BLs since I saw the same situation in the BL that I read before this ... - and I find it incredibly stupid and also ugly (like all the tropes in BLs If I have to be honest) [SPOILER]: the "I am gay, while you like women - even if you like me, a man - and therefore you are normal, so we do not understand each other and you cannot understand me and I don't want you to experiment what I am forced to go through as a gay dude" trope.
Now, this is an absolute nonsense - that I hope I will never read anywhere else again - for a number of reasons: first, there is a sexual orientation to indicate people who like both men and women and this term is bisexual (not "straight, but you are the exception") and the concept of "you do not understand what it's like to be gay and you would not understand even if I explain that to you" is absolutly ridiculous because the other person is already having the same experiences of the "gay one" because he already has a thing with a man!
Luckily this manhua, in the end, manages the situation decently: "the heterosexual" - who fortunately has never really declared himself straight, but only "non-gay" - becomes aware of his sexual orientation (a character even uses the word ""bi", what a miracle) and comes out to his father saying he did it firstly for himself and not only for the comfort of the other guy, and the other one - who had accused him of not understanding - apologizes because he realizes that he told him some nonsense without even taking into account his feelings. [END SPOILERS].
Although I liked it a lot I can't give more than 8 for two other reasons "and a half" (in addition to the overly dramatic situations in the middle of the story, as I already told): first, the introduction of other gay couples - another BL's trope that I dislike a lot and plus they were not very credible, the characters were uninteresting, individually they worked better than as a duo and that's why I just pretend they don't exist in the story at all - and, second, because the author should have already had finished this work cause the main couple (which is however the only one seen in 95% of the chapters) was resolved shortly after the chapter 100 and there is very little else to say - if not continue for the others, who as I said, are absolutely uninspired!
The "half" reason is that (SPOILER) they don't change positions when they have sex - although I still have hope, since they start doing it very late in manhua -.
At this point I think than when - and if - I will find a BL with a versatile couple I will have a party. (END SPOILER)



Ultimately, I recommend it - albeit with its shortcomings - because it remains a very nice BL, the characters are interesting (and not stereotyped), the situations are credible and engaging and it has very well-made drawings.
The chapters are many, but often they are short and therefore it doesn't really take much time to read it all.
I would say that it is more than acceptable even from the point of view of a gay guy and not just of a fujoshi, so I'd say it's promoted.



I read this review at least three times and I'm sorry If I made some mistakes, but english is not my first language.

I’ll keep it short. This is a romance story with a slice of life pace. The difference? We have a look into some of the struggles gay people (and bisexual?) might have. I’m in no position to say how realistic the story is, as I’ve never faced those situations myself, but considering what I’ve seen and from my understanding, it touched on important topics like: prejudice, the impact of social/family acceptance (or lack of it) and insecurities/fears/awareness that heterosexual people usually don’t have.

I’m not gonna lie, we can find some common tropes, like the “fate/ destiny” one, and clichés here and there, however, ... they weren't the main factor building the relationships. And the drama doesn’t rely heavily on “Do they like/love each other? Will the couple end up together?”, but more like “If they end up together, how is it going to work? What is necessary for that?”. As a sucker for stories that focus on characters and their relationships (not only romantic ones), caring about the process, I’m satisfied with what was delivered. It’s a work that stand out among others on the BL and romance genres for me.

If you decide to give Here U Are a chance, I recommend paying attention on what makes the characters fall in love or strengthen their bonds with one another. Not from a judgmental stance, but trying to solely understand them. I’m pretty sure you will recognize similar dynamics playing around you or even expand your point of view on these matters.

Considering it’s a colored work, I enjoyed the details and how the backgrounds aren’t dull. The lightening and scenarios change quite often, adding to the story. For example, through the interior design choices, we can see that the characters we follow aren’t tight on budget or have families with a good financial condition overall. Also, although I’m not into fashion, I think the clothes choices reflect a lot about the characters and their personalities.

My favorite element is how they interact with each other though, expressing different sides of themselves and giving a more 3D aspect to them. In addition, I personally like the author brief appearances. I find their antics comical, but underneath all that, I see how D Jun put effort and consideration into Here U Are, paying attention to reader’s feedback and details as well. It isn’t a flawless work (is this even possible, considering how artists/writers, who are humans, are "flawed" too?) and might not be for everyone’s taste, but I found it to be a heartwarming and meaningful one. I had a good experience and I’ll probably remember positively about it in the future as well.

One of the first BL I've read after a super long time, and it absolutely won my heart. The plot is beyond amazing, the story is so enjoyable and perfectly simple, there aren't any overly frustrating scenes. The art is just *chefs kiss*.

The personality and physical differences between Yu Yang and Li Huan make the story even better. I didn't feel like there were any stereotypes as well, which made the story much more down to earth than your everyday BL stories.

I really liked how Yu Yang approached Li Huan despite his "hard to approach" vibe, he really helped Li Huan bring out the ... best of him, and vice versa, I think.

Overall this manhua was excellent, from the art to the plot, it's a must read if you enjoy reading BL.

What an amazing Bl you guys! I love it!
This was the first time I read a chinese Bl and I admit to y'all, it was great. A very well-constructed, realistic, non-fetishized, non-toxic, and lovely story. I was into this Bl since the beginning and I finished with a wonderful closure, it didn't let any kind of questions about the plot. I believe it's focused on romance and drama, but it has some funny moments.
The characters are so captivating and nice, the author gave the spotlight for each one of them in their own way, so I love it. The couples have great chemistry as ... well.
The art is great, simple but detailed at the same time. I've never seen this kind of art before, so I love it. Very light to see.
So, overall, my experience with this BL was great. I really recommend it.
