Idols are very popular, example is Ohi no Ko but what if sports anime had idols, would it attract a larger audience?

I'm not a big fan of either two, so having idols in a sports anime would not look that interesting to me.

I'm baffled, as there's literally a Sport Idol anime aired recently, and the existence of Keiji!!!n but OP had to make the long and winding run with photoshopping. And there is no sign of Messi.
Help! I need somebody. Help! Not just anybody. Help! You know I need someone. Helpppppp!

juggling sport and being an idol...? Who knows, but using sport to work off the stress of being an idol brings with it sounds kinda interesting. This would also create an contrast between the perfect clean idol fasade and the raw, aggressive side showing in sports.

I don't think so... I simply don't have that much interest in sports anime but I would surely give it a try

I don't know how that would work? A (insert any sport here) team that are also Idols? OR Idols that are like cheerleaders in a Sports Anime? I do not think that just because Idols are popular, that mixing them into a boring/not so popular genre will fix it haha.

No. It would actually put me off one of my favorite genres. I don't like the idol genre(anime) at all. And Oshi no Ko is just a caricature trying to educate its viewers on the dark side of idols and idol culture but it also contains some of the most stupid and unfunniest gags known to existence.

The problem with sports anime is that it's primarily about dudes. If they were more like Keijo then I'd be a bigger fan.

and no one mentioned uma musume series
i thought it is perfect blend of both sports & idol

i personally see idol genre as just female version of sports
always about friendship, aiming for the top & training
Nah, i dont think sharing anime ratings in signature is cool thing.

Here, stare at this pointless signature instead.

Only sports anime worth watching.

I don’t think people enjoying Oshi No Ko are thinking “man, this anime would be so much better if there was a sports arc going on”. I don’t really see the correlation in combining the genres. If you just want a sports anime with cute girls there are plenty of those already.

I enjoyed Extreme Hearts last year, so why not. I don't really like either one, but putting them together should make it somewhat interesting.

That being said, I'm all up for a group of cute tomboys in jerseys doing sports and sweating. Preferably something like basketball, cuz I don't recall there being a girls basketball anime. (And no, Ro-kyu-bu doesn't count, that's loli)

No. In general never was a huge Idol fan or sports fan when it comes to Anime. But I due tend to gravitate towards Anime that feature fictional sports revolving around usually a female cast like "Keijo!!!!!!!!", "Battle Athletes", and "Girls und Panzer".

Though, it can also be a gamble where you get stuff produced like "Kandagawa Jet Girls" and "Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART!". Just because An Anime has a cute female cast and a made up sport doesn't always mean it will be good even when it comes to a remake/reboot of a franchise (pointing at you "Battle Athletes Victory ReSTART!").

Also some of the most interesting contemporary Anime to watch is when there is some fictional sports tournament that is almost the main feature of the entire story or a tournament arc that usually takes up most of a series time. Which was one of the main appeals when it comes to Anime titles like "The Asterisk War", "Chivalry of a Failed Knight", "The Misfit of Demon King Academy", "The Irregular at Magic High School", and even to some degree "The Eminence in Shadow". With "The Irregular at Magic High School" they even produced a spin off called "The Honor Student at Magic High School" which basically takes place during the tournament arc of the main story of the 1st season focused on just the girls of the Anime.

I would throw "Infinite Stratos" up there in the mix too but I don't even remember any actual tournaments completely taking place because they were ironically always interrupted or simply never even ended up happening. lol

I'd probably never watch it then. I have watched very few but I do like it when it is grounded in reality (for the most part). To me idol culture is extremely cringe-worthy, I don't like it. Oshi no Ko was okay but some of the shitty idol scenes were one of the reasons why I rated it so poorly. Disgusting.

Jumping on the bandwagon of having Oshi no Ko in mind, I hate that it's a walking contradiction of itself. Just one of many dart boards with the biggest double-edged sword from the very beginning.
