The 5-toubun no Hanayome (The Quintessential Quintuplets) Special Event 2023 announced on Saturday that the series is receiving a new anime, which will be adapting stories from the manga that the series skipped. The event also revealed an announcement visual (pictured) and video.

Tezuka Productions produced the first 12-episode season, which aired during Winter 2019. The second season was produced by Bibury Animation Studios and aired in Winter 2021. A sequel movie opened in Japanese theaters on May 20. Crunchyroll is streaming both seasons with subtitles and an English dub.

The anime series adapt Negi Haruba's romantic comedy manga, which serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine from August 2017 to February 2020. Kodansha shipped the 14th and final volume in April 2020.

Kodansha USA began publishing the manga in English in June 2018. They released the 14th and final volume digitally in August 2020 and physically in July 2021.

There isn't that much to begin with though. I mean they rushed through it, mainly in the movie, not like they totally skipped something hugely important. I mean I don't remember any such chapters.

Though more Gotoubun, whatever it may be, is immensely welcomed.

Okay, I was thinking that this might be one of the most convincing April Fool's prank but this seals the deal in my mind, ig.

More 5-toubun is always welcome! Not much to adapt though, hoping for some sort of a coherent storyline here but let's see.

Did the producers suddenly realize that despite the end of the franchise, it still has a pretty high financial potential? Hell, why not invest more money in animation then?

Instead of making sequels of other popular shows or even adapting new series they want to do this .. damn

For your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And honour your parents. If one or both of them reach old age in your care, never say to them ˹even˺ ‘ugh,’ nor yell at them. Rather, address them respectfully.
And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”

To Love Ru was already doing it before it was cool (season 2 of that is literally just adapting material season 1 skipped).

Looking how anime industry is heading in the recent couple years , and with the japanese mindset of anime culture getting worse . I can only say R.I.P to those golden past years that we witnessed glorious series that needed sequels  and yet studios don't give a damn about them and don't even look at them  ( DxD series , Fullmetal Panic , Yona of The dawn .. etc ) imagine going from these great titles to adapting " someone turned to a dog , and other isekai series about some loser Reborn as a Vending Machine ..
Holy shit ..

unfortuantely this is typical "i think i've seen more than i actually have" thinking

theres nothing really "new" about any of the concepts in anime being adapted today, i mean... there was an ecchi OVA about a guy getting turned into a dog in the 80s lol

theres always been "trends", but nothing like todays isekai/reincarnation and the issue i have isnt that theyre isekai or reincarnation but its more so that theyre ALMOST ALL medieval setting with pretty much the same kinds of monsters, with an overpowered/unbeatable male lead with short black hair and some main girls that may or may not matter... like... i mean, laziness hasnt gotten any more obvious than that

i agree theres hella anime that need sequels and theres plenty of cultured/hit manga that could be adapted that aren't stuff we've seen 100x now, but the people at the top of industry dont necesarily care what certain fans want, so they just play it safe, and are afraid of risk, at least it seems that way now

at least part of it is due to the increase reliance on foreign market/aid due to the declining population, and increase in money coming from outside japan, so im pretty sure that at least to some degree affects whats being made

Quintulplets was HUGE and is a pretty recent adaptation, so this is no surprise whatsoever

Now this is an unexpected surprise. I didn't think they'd make more anime content for this series since the movie wrapped up everything nicely.

"certain" fans certainly mean foreign fans LOL
They all could cry in an alley with their stances and ideology but Japan wouldn't give a f#ck about it.

i honestly wasn't even thinking western fans when i said that, as theres plenty of genres/types of anime that have gotten cucked over time lol

theres probably a decent amount of japanese fans just as annoyed by having so many copy paste/ai generated isekais and or reincarnation a year lol

I really hope its a alternative ending to each sister. Like I mean that would make all the fans happy, right.

What I mean is that those that loved the ending that it got originally would be upset that it would get changed. I also thought that the ending we got was not supported by the storyline, but that was the authors "clever" decision at the time and it would feel like a copout if they changed it
