I am very embarrassed by the change of studio, although this may mean that this year White Fox will be busy with something big and interesting. But anyway, I like that each new year is more and more overloaded with different titles.

Awesome! At last we've got some more information regarding the second season of Goblin Slayer anime.

The studio jas changed, but I have fingers crossed for LIDENFILMS to deliver a decent looking animated series.

I hope that they are not passing Goblin Slayer over because they have financial difficulties...I would hate to see my favourite studio go bankrupt. :(

I wouldn't want that either, but I doubt it will come to that. They have good producers and a lot of pretty massive IP like ReZero and Steins;Gate.

Some of their staff left but it was like in 2020 or so. And they just finished Utawarerumono S3 last season and it did not look like the studio is struggling with production. So I don't think it is the reason.

It's about time they are finally working on this. I doubt much is going to change since it's the same Chief Director. It's not like character design is going to drastically change either since there is an already existing precedence.

I was kinda hoping White Fox would keep creating Goblin Slayer but oh well. It's a little depressing how many series are switching studios as of late. Especially when the old studios were personal favorites.

White Fox is not a member of the committee for Re:Zero so they see none of the profits that show makes.

They however own 50% of Studio Bind with the other half being owned by Egg Firm

I highly doubt they aren't generating revenue from one of their biggest brands.

Well they aren't, cause it's not their brand, they don't own the IP for the anime.

The Re:Zero anime is produced by Kadokawa, with the other committee members being Hakuhodo MAP, AT-X, and others.
White Fox is just the studio they contracted to make the animation for them.
Once the show is done they don't see any of the profits the show makes.

Well, we're talking about the show, not the rights to the entire franchise.

Yes exactly, the anime of Re:Zero was produced by Kadokawa, AT-X and so on, while the light novel is published by Kadokawa.

So any official merch that you see from Re:Zero will have a tag in the bottom saying "Tappei Nagatsuki / KADOKAWA / Re: Zero Production Committee"

This means it's official merch licensed by the committee, which White Fox isn't a part of.

The merch comes from the anime.

Blu-rays, clothes, and figures are all licensed products from the anime, and not from the light novel itself.

That can be seen by how the merch will use the character design from the anime instead of the original one from the LN.

Here's an example from the official English blu-ray:

@MadanielFL Dude, I know the merch is based on the anime. I'm asking you what the hell does merch have to do with our conversation if we're talking about anime? You have nothing to do? If not, then I'll just add you to the ignore list, I'm tired of this shit.

I genuinely thought the makers forgot about this, as I remember second season being announced some two years ago lol. Though good thing that's not the case and now it's coming this year itself.

What @MadanielFL want to say probably success of Re:Zero anime White Fox will not get profit from it. All profit like bd sales and anime merch will go to production committee like Kadokawa, ATx and others.

Basically production committee pay lot of money to White Fox to animate Rezero and profit only production committee get. White Fox get nothing from Rezero success.

Like it or not, it does not negate the fact that it is they who receive the money for the adaptation of this brand.

Surprised not to see White Fox not taking charge once again but hopefully Lidenfilms will be able to get a good job.

As for the PV, there was hardly anything in it so no comments, lol. Kind of hope they take as much as possible and just air in Fall '23.

I didn't expect it to get another season. First one was pretty disappointing. Manga is a much better adaptation both in visuals and writing. Still, I'll take anything that isn't an isekai or a fake fantasy indistinguishable from an isekai. At least GS is upfront about being a D&D campaign and still doesn't have any of this skills and stats windows bullshit.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

This change in studios leaves me nervous as most changes in studios for a sequel will, that said this studio has done some good work recently, so if a good staff is picked, it might still rock, that said I have never followed through with reading the source material after the anime, so I m in the dark on what to expect.

Why? The first season had 12 episodes and it's not like the entire franchise is deep enough to take 2 cour.

I am seriously looking forward to this. It was only the other day I was talking to my brother and I said I hope Goblin Slayer comes out this year. I have rewatched the first season and watched the movie. I would have prefered a more consistent art with this series but what can you do. The choice of studio is not too bad, it is just that their adaptation of Berserk let them down in my opinion. Nevertheless, happy with the news.

It is a possibility, not a certainty, because there is a tendency for two cours, for many animes now.

This " tendency" is for plot-focused shows with different arcs, not just gore and action shows.

Maybe yes or no... it's more likely to be two (to reduce costs and production); But most of the time they really divide everything into 2 parts.
