Does anyone rewatch an anime sped up? I guess it can be useful if you want to refresh your memory about a show, but I've never heard anyone say they do that.

I got this idea when I thought of rewatching something at 2x speed, then 4x speed, then 8x speed, and so on. This way I can rewatch an anime infinite times in the same amount of that it takes to rewatch it once.

This is a joke, I assume?

If you're going to speed something up, just rewatch clips on youtube or read up on their wiki instead.

You're rewatching at 2x speed? I watch slow pacing anime for the first at 2x, and all stuff at 1.5 (not only anime, but youtube and netflix too)

That seems pretty braindead. The lowest I'll go is to watch recap movies, but it's always a diminished experience.

I think people who go out of their way to rewatch content are of a disparate sort from speedwatchers.

Nah the highest speed-up I do is x1.5 (but mostly I watch at x1), if I want to get some scene by faster I just fast-forward without a higher speed than x1 (or x1.25) by skipping 5 or 10 seconds, if not multiple times.

If one really uses x2 or more then the sounds will be bad af, and there's no way you'd be able to follow the text.
Better read the manga at that point?

i love this modern take on zeno's paradox :)))))

yes i often rewatch on 3-5x , either to recap what happened in the last episode after a longer break, or to take notes... i almost never do a full rewatch, speed or not

Keep in mind that when you increase the speed the player starts skipping frames, so you would have to increase the FPS exponentially, or else after the 15th rewatch you'd be staring at a single static frame (assuming a standard FPS of 24 - just do the maths.)
You're welcome.

one piece and chimera arc are probably the only times you HAVE to speed up the episdoe just because of how poor the pacing is

Nope. It defeats the purpose of rewatching.
Also can dilute scenes that are perfectly paced, but becomes wacky when at 2x speed.
That's why I never rewatch my favorite animes at 2x speed.
Always at normal speed.

I wasted all my time in rewatching to the point of my rewatch total is higher than my overall anime total lmao

You'll laugh, but I actually heard that someone was doing just that - adding anime to their list after playing them while they were asleep. It's second-hand information so idk if it's true, but it wouldn't surprise me. That's what MAL does to people :>.
I probably regret this post by now.

When I'm editing together an AMV: Faster than that, but around that speed when looking for sets of mouth flaps.

When I'm watching for enjoyment: No.

I may do that for ones I've never seen (not rewatch) if they are a long grind and I have a quota to meet for blog posts.

Not 2x, though. Maybe no faster than 1.5x.

I will return them to normal speed during really good scenes.

"Does anyone rewatch anime at 2x speed?"

Not me, but I can skip a scene if I really don't like it or repeat a scene several times If I like it while rewatching.

I have to admit I've once done it for One Piece because of how slow the pacing is to some extent.

If you're looking for a particular part of an anime and don't know what episode or whatever, sure. But rewatch and entire anime just for the sake of "rewatching"? No, what would be the point? Online dick list measuring?

My point of rewatching is to reexperience and recollect. watching at 2x speed wouldn't be different from wasting my time.
