| I was discussing this with a friend, what characters can you guys think of, that if wasn't for him or her the show would be way worse or wouldn't even work. Like, no other character could replace it. For me, the first i can think of is Izaya from Durarara!. I only watched the first season but i can't imagine the anime working at all without him, he is basically god there and make the entire plot work. (Try to avoid MCs if you can) |

Char Aznable is the MC in Origin, secondary MC in CCA, and deuteragonist in Zeta, but "only" a rival character in original Gundam. Madarame Harunobu is never the MC of Genshiken in any arcs, but it's obvious he is the one who carried the show from the start to the finish. Oh, and also Fujiwara no Sai, a deuteragonist in Hikaru no Go. |

| Miu in Strawberry Marshmallow. The show is very mundane and down to earth, the character's don't get into much adventure or anything super exciting. Until Miu decides to pull a prank or do something that's a catalyst for future events. The episodes that don't center around her starting a conflict tend to be boring. Here's an example, my favorite episode is the fourth one. Her big sister gets a job with an embarrassing uniform and Miu decides to keep bringing her friends to her work to embarass her Onee-Chan. It's hilarious at the end. |

| Vinland saga was carried by Askeladd. If Thorfinn wasn't there(when he's the actual protagonist) the show would've still be fine without him tho I heard he has gotten major development in season 2 so let's see how it goes. |

| Probably Lelouch from Code Geass. Only memorable character from that show in my eyes. I half agree with people saying Light Yagami from Death Note. The thing that "carries" Death Note is the dynamic between Light and L. If one of them outright "disappeared" , Death Note would lose its spark. |

I only watched first season of Re:Zero and basically what Subaru just did the whole season was: 1- Freak out 2- Compose himself because it was his only option gave the anime setup. Like if you put any other anime generic MC like some romcom anime protag in the place of Subaru, he would for sure do the same thing. Since Subaru is immortal either he would keep dying forever what is just dumb or look for a solution each ressurection, what he did. Steins Gate for example do the same thing and is so much better than Re:Zero. The reason why, is simple because Okabe is a way better character than Subaru. |
