So...I've been watching anime for a LOOOOONG time, as you guys can see, I joined MAL in 2008 but I started watching anime around 2005 or 2006. I remember when the "Are traps gay" thing came about, it was NEVER meant to be transphobic it was just fun and games in the ANIME world, not necessarily the real world. I will admit, I have used this phrase a lot and I always kept it to the meme/joking aspects of it all. I think I started to change my mind when I saw Contrapoints video on this subject: Now, I will say that in the ANIME world...I don't have any problems calling characters "Traps", but in the real world, I don't think I'm going to be doing that anymore. Femboy is a much better term IMO and there are ZERO negative implications behind it.....remember SOME guys who like to crossdress and act feminine are NOT necessarily trans or wanting to be trans, they are more than likely "Femboys" and the distinction should be aptly named. The reason I also want to bring light to this old meme is because of this BULLSHIT "Super Straight" Cringey as fuck thing has now started to gain traction. For those wondering....YES it is transphobic, 100% and yet another attempt for people on the FAR RIGHT (including alt-Right dipshits) to try to normalize their hatred and bigotry. With that being said....hopefully we can have a nice civil discussion on these topics. |

Its fairly simple my dude. What are ppl atracted to when they see another person? Its the secondary sexual features that attracts the opposite sex, and not the genitalia, since you only get to see that way latter....normally . So if u take what i said above, then its easy to figure out that if you are a guy and are attracted to a trap, then you work perfectly fine , since its the secondary sexual features that these traps have that make you attracted to them not to mention that we never get to see the dick anyway. That being said, as a rule of thumb, if you are a guy and the person you are fucking, or have some sort of lewd interactions with has a dick, then its gay no matter how feminine they look from the outside. The dick is what makes it gay. |

No because you are attracted to a trap because it looks like a girl, not a dude |

The question is stupid because it's asking whether a group of people/character with certain physical characteristics all having same sexual orientation or not. Some traps might be gay, some might not. |

It has to do with if you view what you are attracted to as a man or woman. So the answer is quite obvious. Traps are just dressed up brothers. |

Now, I'm radicalized by the far left. Thank you for saving me, Mr ContraPoints! |

It's ok Alex-kun no one will judge you for going balls deep inside another dude's turd cutter. It's considered normal these days and even encouraged, but imagine trying to cope to the point of asking this question... |

This I will never understand. I've always taken "trap" as a compliment. Hell I have people who regularly call me that. I guess I will never understand the perspective of those who are weak. (and yes the superstraight thing is hilarious because of the chimp out it has received) |

Alex, you have already created countless threads were you said that you were bi, so why asking? _Nette_ said: This I will never understand. I've always taken "trap" as a compliment. Yeah, people need to stop using this slur to refer to trans people and crossdressing guys. But of course they probably won't. |

Are traps gay? - yes because a boy who is dresses similar to female fashion. Secondly, the way they talk and body langauge is a giveway. If a male has a interest in a trap then it means they are probably gay as well since they cant tell the difference with voice. |

It is not transphobic, hateful or bigoted for a male to only want to have sex with a biological female or for a female to only want to have sex with a biological male. This preference has nothing to do with political ideologies either. (I do acknowledge that some people involved in the "super straight" movement are the things you have claimed, however.) |

I still find it hard to see how trap is considered a slur when it almost always refers to either anime characters or males who look feminine, sometime to the point of being mistaken for the opposite sex |

Obviously. They also have nothing to do with trannies so I don't know why they always take offense to the term. |

I never heard of such circles, but in the communities I'm in trans people don't tend to like it because times trans characters get called traps in wich case it can means a) That person is calling trans people decivious, because that is what IRL traps are or B) That person is conflating crossdressers and trans people. Exemples of characters that are trans and I see many people calling traps are Luka Urushibara (Literally changed sex, only came back to save a life) Liliy Hosikawa and Ferris Argyle (Tho you would need to read the source material to know) I also seem some Crossdresses say they don't like it but is much less personal to them. i think you need to take a break from twitter OP nobody knows what the superstraight thing is off of that website and I wouldn't take that shit seriously Also Most Trans people I know are ok with being called traps or they literally don't care I think that's more of an - once you hit your late 20's - 30's trivial shit like that doesn't matter. I only know one person who gets upset by that and no offense to her but she gets upset by everything. Contrapoints can't speak for everyone basically since everyone has a different opinion. |

Are traps gay? Well cross dressers are gay yes since when you go home you get a dude. Trans people no, you go home you get a lady. The problem here is trap is often confused with trans people when they're very different things really, calling trans people traps is pretty bad ngl Contra's video is a very good video on this |

A serious answer to this question is no, most traps (crossdressers) are not gay, they just have a kink for crossdressing. |

I always thought trap was an anime term. Pretty cringe when people unironically apply it to 3D. Anyway, yeah it's all gay. Just own it and get NTR'd as Momo helplessly watches you submit to chinko shoujo. |

I don't recall seeing anywhere where felix was explicitly stated to be trans though, just as being biologically male, so likely there isn't a canon gender identity for him (i suppose when the anime adapts that part of the source material it might change, also idk if japan actually has the same concept of gender and sex being often considered seperate, and recent developments might have changed or complicated things). From what i can see, characters like him could easily be classified as non-binary just as easily, or simply classified by their biological sex |

From what i can see, characters like him could easily be classified as non-binary just as easily, or simply classified by their biological sex I kinda of regret even bringing it up because there is a LOOOT of stuff that can be said about Ferris, most of it is related to QNAs and this one ligth Novel focused on the character https://myanimelist.net/manga/95243/Re_Zero_kara_Hajimeru_Isekai_Seikatsu_Ex I will try and keep things short: In that one novel the third person onisciente narrator says that Ferris should had be born a girl, it is show that she has uneasiness with male secondary phisical caracterists, did evade male puberty by praying very hard, changed her name from Felix to Ferris, and use only the feminine variety of pronouns - wich is consistent trough re zero in Japan, but was translated as masculine pronouns to the rest of the world (and tho one migth be eager to atribute that to transphobia the translators actually were in a hard spot, because Japnanese pronouns are more flexible than english pronouns) there is prob some more details, but let's move. The QNAs in the other hand are more complicated, One time the writer was questioned why Felix (at the time) behave in a feminine way and so he responded that it had to do with a promise she made with Crusch when they where kids that Felix would hold Crush femininity when she wouldn't be using it. That made fans at this point belive that Felix was asked to do that and rolled along because of his love for Crusch. That however was proved wrong when that history was wrote, because Felix was the one that asked for it, not otherwise. Also, when asked if Ferris could ever go back to be Felix the Author said no. (But let's not take him at his word, he made stuff he said he woldn't do some times before) As for the part of the Knigths gender and dressing code, I think that if they had a gender rule (I'm not sure if they do) it wouldn't be out of place to Ferris be an exeption, since she is with Crush who have power and influence to make it. So, in other words, it is pretty easy to say what Ferris is supossed to be, but translation and adaptation don't necesary capture it creating this strange state in where depending on how you consume the series you wouldn't ever know. |
