THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Jegal Taek's shark Charyeok is just about the MOST INSANE THING EVER (and there're still more to come being suspects of the "Key"). And yeah yeah, all the other provisional cities fights: PASS (as always VERY condensed), while showing all the other martial arts that are not-so-worthy than what is already shown from the trio, the Judges and Nox's abilities.

Park Il-Pyo (another Tiger Cub) gets to flex his power with the old marital arts style "Taekkyeon", a very fast action work. Even under a rival's Charyeok, it's just a piece of cake to handle. Certainly our main trio should've realized their rivals' insane Charyeok powers, and facing them head-on is just instant death (even training doesn't reach to that level). The meeting between both Tiger Cubs (him and Jin), a short but eventual meet for students taught by the same master.

His backstory of meeting Jin Tae-Jin amidst harsh childhood parental life and unfamiliar surrounding, but teaching him Renewal Takewondo (just like how Jin would later be) for a renewal spirit, abetting him with the mark of a Tiger Cub. But Taek's momentary interference just about spoils their mood, and the danger is written in stone. No matter, these 2 Tiger Cubs better fight well to survive as long as they could, even if one is a fan of the other.

Thank God that Judge P has secured Shim Bong-sa's wife and child amidst his death. Judge Q being cut of his then 3, now 9 months pay for using his Charyeok for property damage, and finding leftover money on the streets is kinda hilarious, but hoping he'll get his long-due pay soon enough, a deal to Daewi's advantage.

With the remaining judges feat. Park Mu-Jin (with the hidden traitor in the shadows and the unknown "Key" catalyst), the fight between them and Nox is about to begin, in an all-out war of Charyeok.

On the other hand, Jin, gotten word that his grandpa Jin Tae-Jin has been assumingly "killed" by Nox (but of course the culprit kept in secret), Park Mu-Jin has no choice but to etch it in his face, but in confidence he rebuts it straightaway. All that training, all that fighting for his Tiger Cub grandpa and gaining his recognition, it was a dream that ended too soon after his 6th birthday. But in the midst, a sudden birthday? A nice time of little moments to treasure their time together while they can, as teammates, and importantly, as friends fighting in the same tournament.

A letter sent to Jin as a death threat? Looks like Jin Tae-Jin is still alive, but captured by Nox (with that missing arm from last episode being pivotal evidence). Time for a rescue operation!

Now I truly realize that what director Park Sunghoo said about a "self-contained" story (during Crunchyroll's BTS interview), THIS IS WHAT HE MEANT. A better episode than I initially bargained for.

I am not sure why, but in this tournament arc of an anime, I am liking the break episode from the tournament more enticing and enjoyable than the action heavy ones. Even though there was some action in this episode, the light and slower tone really does miracles for this story.

Park was a nice new character addition and I hope more is done with him outside of just his upcoming fight with Jin.

Shocker, his grandpa isn't dead, but is in fact injured and kidnapped and using him as blackmail. I wonder for what purpose.

Apparently one of the commissioners is a traitor, too bad I don't care enough about the story to even guess which one it is.

All in all, one of the better episodes.

This Ilpyo guy sure seems interesting. Learned those same techniques that Mori got from his grandpa back in the day. Their little spare at that park or wherever looked like a good prelude to their eventual real bout. Which I'm assuming we'll see in the next few episodes. Lot of this episode mostly being based around our three heroes getting stronger for their next fights. They all don't feel like what they have right now is enough. Not a far off statement given how crazy powerful both Ilpyo and Jegal have shown themselves to be. Interesting connection between Mori and Ilpyo with their shared relation to Mori grandpa Taejin. Whom at the end we saw has of course been captured following that gigantic sword coming out of the sky when he faced those Nox guys.

Glad at least to know the announcer wife and kid are still alive, that would've been too sad. These commissioners being let off their leashes and able to remove their limiters sounds cool. After the big fight we saw two of them have last episode I'm excited to see how far they can go next time they run into some Nox punks. Park Mujin declaring war on Nox is awesome! I hope we see him fight soon too or at least before this is done. Looks like it's time for a rescue mission though before the tournament starts back up.

Ilpyo Park aniki has arrived, he is indeed a real bro and OP to boot. His backstory is one of the most solid ones among all GOH characters.

I love seeing how close Jin, Mira and Daewi have grown. Their wholesome moments in the midst of all the craziness is great to see. I wish I had friends like that.

I’m so glad Sim’s family is alive. It was sad enough he had to die, but his family going out too would’ve been too much. Feel bad for Q losing out on more months of pay over an assumption lmao.

This was a pretty nice setup episode with relatively little action compared to the rest of the season. Some nice flashbacks with Jin and his grandfather. Nothing much else to really speak of for today. I had fun

Honestly I think this was the best episode, because we finally saw some human interactions between the trio. Sadly, after 8 long episodes, I finally get to see something that puts a smile on my face, Mori’s birthday, the group actually interacts, looks like an actual trio instead of a bunch of strangers, there were actually funny scenes and not scenes where Mori is rolling in the floor while in his chibi form. Yeah this is the best episode so far.

So the audience are able to see all these JoJo stands and these superpower so called martial arts but none of them are confused or asking about the science behind it and instead hosting a tournament where they fight each other like dogs?

At this point I’m more interested in the people like Commissioner and Park Mujin because they are literally more interesting that the MCs. Their interactions are funny unlike the interactions between the main trio where Mori just goes chibi and it’s supposed to be funny.

I don't care about the GOH tournament, charyeok, Nox cultist, the Anti-God commissioners administering the GOH, heck even the end of the world anymore, I thought seeing kid Mori again was enough for me but baby Mori sleeping with eye mask on takes the entire cake, icing and whatever's on top!!! ♥_♥

At first I thought grandpa sent HBD reminder to his friends, but at the end he was captured so it has to be someone else... hmmmm

Oh! What if traitor is not a commissioner but a previous MC that fake his death?

This GOH episode was pretty good!
Jegal Taek's Charyeok (A MASSIVE FUCKING SHARK) is amazing and VERY DANGEROUS! I am pretty sure he killed Jeon Jugok (previous fighter from last week episode)- before the OP we hear a flatline coming from the EKG heart monitor.

We finally meet Park Il-Pyo a seemly carefree, fun and charismatic martial artist. Park Il-Pyo quickly defeats his opponent using Taekkyeon (A traditional Korean martial art) despite the opponent possessing a Charyeok. INSANE

Han and Mi-Ra notice that something is disturbing Jin but he isn't ready to talk to them yet. We later find out that Jin's Grandpa (Jin Taejin) has been captured by Nox however instead of Jin he been overly worried he has faith in this Grandpa's abilities and reassure Park Mu-Jin that Jin Taejin will be alright

Thankfully it is revealed that Sim Bongsa's wife and kid are safe due to one of the commissioners creating a fake marionette which Nox actually killed. Commissioner Q needs to stop jump to conclusions!

Jin believes that he is stronger his Grandpa would see him as a burden so he is starts training so that he can become stronger and fight alongside his Grandpa

It is revealed that the commissioners have been holding back and because of Nox Park Mu-Jin as allowed them to remove their limiters and fight at full power. Can't wait to see what they can really do.

Jin is fulfilling his promise to his Grandpa- he making friends. It was fun to see Jin, Mori and Han celebrate Jin's birthday.

However the next morning, Jin receives a mysterious letter (probably sent by Nox) which contains a map and his Grandpa captured. Jin is going to have to rescue his Grandpa BUT WILL HE SAVE BEFORE THE GOD OF HIGHSCOOL TOURNAMENT BEGINS!

It really needed this episode. The chill vibe and the story details thrown in it were very welcomed. The fights are awesome but you need substance to make the show special. I really like the main trio even if they are cliché. Gives me Team 7/Yorozuya vibes.

I can surely say that GOH is getting better at every episode. I like that cliffhanger they gave us at the end. Other than that, Ilpyo Park's backstory was cool. I really like how Mori's grandpa is shown to be somewhat of a cool but strong af guy.

I actually think this is the best episode in a while, it still feels pretty fast-paced but not NEARLY as much as the past few episodes. Previously we've just had fights after fights with barely any time to comprehend what's happening, but this episode was a breather with nice flashbacks and a wholesome scene among the trios with the birthday party. I also really liked the scene with Mori Jin and Park Ilpyo fighting, I feel like they could become good friends.

On another note, poor Q...9 months without pay lol. At least he'll have Daewi as his personal chef. xD

There should be no argument or complaints for this episode. This is the best episode yet. The only problem with this anime is that it doesn't have episodes like this. Where the story just slows down and takes its time, characters actually interact with each other and more backstory gets shown. I loved this episode.

Definitely one of the better paced episodes, which is surprising considering so much happened. Il Pyo Park is another quickly well developed character added to the cast. I always love when the rival starts with a friendly relationship to the Hero.

Also, I made a Tierranker for the different episodes cause my enjoyment changes so much week to week. [url=https://tiermaker.com/create/god-of-high-school-episodes-152221[/url]

Finally about time a good freaking episode came out of this anime, the pacing was calming down, next episodes are gonna be fights and fights and gets meh, only 50 more chapters left to cover in the next 5 episodes, if only GOH started off like this and wasn’t crazy promoted by crunchyroll, MAL would take this show nicely and criticism would not be low but not too much, Re Zero and fire force still feel a bit more interesting than GOH In my opinion

Jin, Daewi & Miira have become one of my favorite anime trios ever; there's so much chemistry between them and it's a friendship that I'd love to have!

I instantly fell in love with Park Ilpyo; I have a soft spot for characters that are sweet and adorable but OP Af haha

With every new episode, I grow more and more distrustful of Park Mu-Jin... there's just something so off about him. I feel like he'll turn out to be one of those characters that walk a tightrope between good and evil.

Quite the calm episode this week, and we got to see a wholesome celebration of Mori's birthday. Unfortunately things ended suspensefully with us learning that Grandpa is being held hostage, next week should be interesting.

Wait. So the two are his first frirnds since he was 6? That is so sad. ;_;
But still what a nice bday.

I agree much better pacing this episode. THough it is not a lot, the extra bits of world building and establishing characters were good. And every moment with Q is a win anyway. He might be a chain smoker but a great character and fighter. Hopefully, he will also be a great teacher.

One more episode of GOH and.. waht an episode!

First of all Jegal Taek's shark Charyeok is just BRUTAL and the action scenens today ... just Top as the entire season :)

Also great to see how interacts and support our main trio, getting closer and closer
Nux vs Commisioners it seems to be the great thing in future episodes so really interesting to see wht can Daewi learn from Commissioner Q and also (and I think we´ll see it soon) how Jin is going to rescue grandpa..

Reallly solid episdoe, probably the best one so far!

Man, what a relief that the Family of the announcer is safe and alive! Also good that the commisioners have gotten permission to go all out on Nox!

Quite a more relax episode, especially the second half! Some more bonding between the main trio was nice to see as they celebrated Mori's birthday!

Mori get's a letter with a photo of his Grandad in chains, next week gonna be lit! Unless he will let the commisioners handle it. Would still be interesting!

It was a nice episode. I think even if Jin doesn't want to, at one point he is going to take some godly power because of some survival situation. That event could be rescue mission of his grandpa. I don't think he can keep fighting after seeing that photo.

I was just about to comment this!!!!

There's actually been no given reason or genuine development of friendship. If anything, Mira and Jin should deplore Daewi for intentionally rupturing Miras wound and causing serious internal bleeding cause he was 'sad'. I need someone to explain to me how their friendship got established after that.

Probably the best since the first one, but that scene with the shark guy was very nonsense, he just out of nowhere almost killed Jin, and what he do next? turn around and just leave, also Jin and the other guy act like "meh, just another day" lol, and so the guy just leave Jin there alone less than 5 minutes after the shark guy tried to kill Jin as if he couldn't just try to do again, also, where the hell is the police or any kind of law in this place? a superpower guy can just walk anywhere in the streets, try to kill someone and nothing happens lol

So for the first time we saw Ilpyo fight. He has an interesting fighting style and even tho his opponent used Charyeok he had absolut no problem with it. Interesting enough that Mori recognized his grandfathers lion symbol on Ilpyos jacket.

We also saw more of the conversation between Daewi and Mujin about the Charyeok. So in theory everyone could learn it. I somewhat had a feeling Mori wouldn't want this kind of power at all.

At first I was surprised about Moris reaction when Mujin showed him pictures of the place where Moris grandfather fought especially with all that blood on the ground. He didn't seem to be worried at all even if the rest of this episode showed that the opposite was the case.

I liked the meeting between Mori and Ilpyo. Of course Ilpyo wanted to spare a little bit :D
The flashback explains why Ilpyo has that lion on his back. But damn seeing baby Mori with that eye mask was just cuteness on another lvl.

I'm glad to see Sims family being alive. Poor Q. His salary got canceled even longer lol. I hope he trains Daewi. Would be nice to see.

I really loved the ending where Mira and Daewi came to celebrate Moris birthday. It's true, if you have friends like this there's almost nothing better. :)

With that picture Mori got you can be sure he will try to rescue him.

I'm really curious on what Jin Taejin said to Ilpyo, that he and his grandfather saved the world at one point. I think at one point Ilpyo will help Mori considering the debt he has to Mori's grandfather.

One of the better episodes in my opinion and loved that final bit where the trio celebrated Jin's birthday. The pacing can still improve though.

Seventeen? And he's already this badass? Damn! xD But glad Jin had his first bd party. These past 2 episodes have been pretty chill, they are saving all of the juices for the next episodes?
