There's also the fact that everything in manga/anime tends to be a bit exaggerated when it comes to proportions. (Look at dem big eyes) This is a good point other people have brought up to me. Maybe Japanese men prefer bigger breasts. I would guess not however considering the average breast size in Japan is very small and there tends to be correlation between average size and what men like. I did quick google search and couldn't find any data on the subject. But thinking more about it now... it's definitely not the case. Look at anime as a whole and the youth-worship that exists. There are many more young, small breasted anime girls and Japan sticks out for this fact. This is the country from which the word 'lolicon' originates. I think your other point about anime exagerrating everything is more likely the reason. It's kind of strange though... The big eyes exagerrate features that fit a cute/petite sort of girl which is a type that typically has smaller breasts so the art style kind of clashes with massive breasts, in my opinion. |

| I think part of it is that people associate loving lolis with pedophilia and don't want to associate themselves with it. Lolis are wonderful and they make me want to protect them like they were my daughters or younger relatives but some people can't seem to understand this type of love. |

I never called anything offensive, nor do I believe anyone got offended by these, it's about the fact that people often lie in all sorts of polls and indeed are easily swayed towards opinions and statements they might believe to be more 'normal', especially if they are on the fence. But whatever, it's not about the general outcome being different, maybe slightly less extreme. No matter. I don't at all doubt that people generally prefer a more typical size (although I don't believe most are as sensitive with the size to call rather normal, even if on the bigger side, Dumbbell's Sakura 'giant', or 'anything over D freakish'), but I wouldn't bring up your poll when talking about anything outside MAL (I even metioned it earlier in the thread to counter the point that 'most mal like big chests', because I see much more dislike towards it and kind of expected the result, even if I didn't like it personally). That being said, there's another important point to be made, that real life preferences, and those regarding anime girls, don't have to overlap completely, in fact I like the anime tiddies significantly bigger than RL ones, if your poll was talking about real life women, I would also go with the 'everyday' choice, not the cannonballs. I bet I'm not alone who has different preferences like that. Anyway, I just believe the creators generally know what they're doing when they choose heroines like that. They do bring results, I think. Most of the main heroines of shonens, battle light novels and all that, are quite above just 'D', and they're ever popular. I wonder what the results would be if these weren't together with the complete end of the spectrum like IDK, Passionlip. And if they included the main audience - the japanese youth. |
