Well that's no ordinary tree. In fact, this episode was hardly ordinary at all with the creepy gimmicks.

One thing I'm glad to see from this episode is the return of Souichi. He brings in a dark comedy to this show and it's definitely something that lightens up this series a bit. Still, I did find the scenes when he was taking those photos with his camera to be kinda creepy. Overall, felt like this show was so-so.

Yeeees Souchi's story to close off the anime <3 and the model is back, so 2 recurring characters already. Didnt know she was slepeing in that swamp, also didnt know she was so huge, oh boy she got angry for taking her pictures, i bet i know how she dealed with all the other noisy reporters lol. Isnt Souchi pretty powerfful too? shouldnt he be able to stop her? But yeah, every Souchi's attempt at anything turns on its head in the end :(
I wish tho the last episode wasnt just like any other, and it would've had some resolution like Yami shibai season 3.

Nonetheless this anime is fine, some storeis were good but none were even finsihed so the anime served as manga ad the most. CRossroads was my favorite story even though they adapted like 1 chapter out of 5. Oh well gonna wait for Tomie's Ova at least, feelsgood. Hopefully it will be a finished story.
Also episodes 7-11 straight out SUCKED. Especially the OIL EPISODE GOD SAVE ME, I cfant look at volcanoes the same again :(

That was a very weird tree. Lots of people got squashed by it like a mosquito. Souichi is back and he's still cringy. Not a good show overall.

Hmm,so what was the trigger for people getting smashed ?

And lol Souichi meeting the "beautiful woman".

Overall pretty much a mixed bag, unfortunately sometimes rather laughable than scary.

Not bad,but below average 4,5/10

I was afraid they were going to end the season the way they started it: with Souichi (not that I think those stories are bad, I just think beginning or ending an anthology of Junji Ito stories with them is a poor choice). That said, the twist of bringing the fashion model into this story helped make it a little better as a cap for the series.

That first one though... It really needed some sort of defined rules for what constitutes being noticed, it wasn't very effective without that...

So the stories are now over sad to say I was not impressed with these last stories the tree one was just meh I was hoping that the tree's nectar is the blood of all it's victims and that a part of the (like the arms for branches) victims become a part of the tree. as for the last story why am I not surprised it's about souichi but I did like that they brought back the ugly model that was an interesting surprise. I'm still disappointed to end it on a cliffhanger this anime ends things so abruptly it's annoying at the very least they could have continued the story in another episode kinda like a two part(er?) thing where they continue the story later. anyway it was a fun and interesting ride could have been creepier but I still enjoyed this anime get's a six from me (I wouldn't mind if they decide to make a special or an ova down the line).

Pretty underrated imo 7/10 I mean even we the low budget they had, I feel like they still did a nice job at each of the stories and the trimming of some of it doesn't really harm the premise in itself

Enjoyed the series. Junji Ito certainly has a vivid and scary imagination. I'm really not a fan of Souichi though. He's annoying and juvenile but not in a way I find funny or creepy (of course in real life that would be another story).

Welp, I guess that’s that.
Lackluster ending, I must say :/
As a huge Junji Ito fan, it has definitely been really fun to watch this series. And while I don’t think the anime packs even a quarter of the punch that the manga did, I've still enjoyed every second. Simply because it’s Junji Ito<3
I was hoping for some more Tomie, especially for the finale because her stories are always crazy, but I’m glad we’ll be getting 2 Tomie OVA’s soon.

Funny how in the first story, all the tree was doing was squashing the humans for drinking it’s nectar, the same way the humans were shamshig mosquitoes for drinking their blood. Silly humans!
I had a feeling that Souichi would show up for the end. I do like Souichi, he’s absolutely ridiculous, has not an ounce of self-awareness, and he’s just a riot. But as someone else said before, despite bringing in the model character again, the ending had little impact.
Im thinking overall like 6 or 7 out of 10.

I don't like Souichi's stories so this was a weak ending imo. This series had multiple good horrifying or disgusting stories that were well-executed, along with some other poor ones. 6/10

i didnt suspect that Splatter Film will came up outta nowhere, this chapter is in Mimi no Kaidan though, not Junji Ito Kyoufu Collection.

i like the first half, love the animation, it’s the biggest and the most gruesome bitchslap in history, holy shit you get flattened by it. that slap was traveling across dimension straight from central america to Japan, how amazing was that!. back when i read the manga, they still didnt tell me how to eat the nectar without getting caught, it just lucky chance i guess.

the second half is Rumors!, they should put this earlier, and then put the older Shouichi marrying Fuchi and create a haunted house consist of his demonic child in this finale, it’s gonna be the most anticipated crossover ever.

despite the animation, i will miss these artstyle to be honest, the artstyle is very ... i would say, calming, also with the color pallete choice. every girl in here looks so cute, especially Tomie, she’s mad cute. now we wait for the OVA.

well, i dont say i don’t like it, but this is the closer we are to the proper adaptation of Junji Ito. we’ll probably never seen another adaptation again for a while:(, sad times. just like Berserk, both of these are considered a piece of legend, yet no one seem try hard enough to pull this off:(

RIP 2018-2018, your beautiful artstyle and infamous animation will be missed:(

Humm... it's an okay episode, the pacing is generally fine, but the are work is not good... as usually... which really the biggest weakness of this show, the art of the anime don't deliver the same creepy feeling as the original manga, and when you are making a "Horror" anime, you have to be able to do that.

And about the story choice, I was hoping we could get one more story with Oshikiri... Souichi is the only recurring character from the manga that actually recurs in this show, (oh the model too I guess.) it really makes it feel like fails advertising for Oshikiri and the pretty boy of the crossroad to have such major spot in the promotional material.

Also the teacher one is really a bad Souichi story choice, but since they decided to just remove his cousin, their option was pretty limited...

Over all, despite how entertaining this show is, I still can't give it higher than 6/10, it's really not the right way to get introduce to Ito's work.

The first story felt quire subpar even for this anime. Also, were those mosquitoes just a metaphor for people who drink its nectar?

Souichi and the "beautiful" model are back to make it feel like a finale which the anime starting with them and ending with them. Felt like a comedic episode over a finale of a "horror" show.

Overall, the anime was quite disturbing sometimes but it certainly didn't feel like a horror one. Some of the episodes were quite entertaining, some affected me for a couple of hours (the one where everybody's privacy being broken seriously made me feel disturbed just for the thought of everywhere looking like slumps that way), some were disgusting and some were outright plain. Would I ask for more? Probably not. Would I watch a second season? Probably, as long as it doesn't get even worse.

My final verdict: 5.5/10

Tree with the swet nectar of crushing death.
Souichi with the rumors and it comes back to bite him in Fuchi being there.

8/10, obviously not as good as the manga but I like the pencil like outlines and some stories were well done.

I've grown to accept this series for what it is. It's not as amazing as it could have been, or even what Junji Ito and his fans deserve, but it was still an enjoyable way to consume both his lesser and well known works in a quick burst. It wasn't scary in the slightest, but at least it was enjoyable!

If anything, these episodes have made me want to go back and read all of Ito's work in full. I think fans had their expectations set way too high, especially given Studio Deen's track record as of late, and as did I at around mid-season. When I got rid of those expectations I found myself having more fun with this series.

I thought the quality would only go up after the staff got their footing in the first couple of episodes. Sadly, I was wrong. With that being said, I again, was still very much entertained, and while I still hope for more with anything that has Ito's name attached to it, it still counts for something that this series kept me and a lot of others watching until the very end, 7/10.

Maybe one day we'll get the Ito anime that does true justice to his manga. Personally, I would love to see a Black Paradox adaptation in true gritty/gorey fashion. In the meantime, let's hope the studio saved all their budget for this OVA!

First part was laughable to say the least and the second one was so... I don't konw, to be honest, I don't like Souichi at all. He's so annoying and I pity him at some point but well, I think these stories weren't the best ones for a clousure ep.

Overall, I won't miss this show at all but at least I can say I would read some stories by this author, probably. 4/10 because of the artstyle and animation from some episodes and besides, from the 24 or 25 stories (I can't remember if any ep. had more than two stories), I only found kinda interesting around... 4 or 5 ones... maybe.

As an episode, this one was very good. Souichi and Fuchi are my two favorite Junji Ito characters, so to see them both in "Rumors" is awesome! Also, the story "Smashed" was kinda unique, with the whole tree god thing and the people eating the nectar even though they know they'll die.

As a finale, on the other hand, this one was kind of disappointing. I feel that even though both stories were good, they didn't really leave much of an impact. Personally, I would've ended with a couple of Ito's more sinister stories, such as "Army of One" or "The Enigma of Amigara Fault". Heck, if they wanted to have Souichi and Fuchi in the final episode, they could've picked "Secret of the Haunted Mansion", or "The Souichi Front".

Overall, Junji Ito Collection was a great series! Can't wait for the "Tomie" OVAs!

About the second story it reminds me about the story of the ugly model. Is the same? At the beginning I thought that the story will be telling us about that creepy studen with his strange teeth.

And the first? well... I was wondering what kind of thing was creating that strange honey and why randomly the people died after eating it.

It is me or the animation in this final episode was really low quality and awful?

Meh. Why did we get another Yami no Koe chapter animated? It's not that I don't like the honey story, but I wished for the last episode something I haven't read yet :/ But it was alright

The souichi part was defenitely a bit funny, gave me a few good screenshots. But meh. It was alright I guess.

Just like the whole show. As much as I like Junji Ito's works, this adaption doesn't give him justice and now I doubt that any animated work ever will. However it gave us a great Opening and an even better Ending so I know what to listen along to the manga now hehe.

All in all I can't say that I was scared, but I also can't say that I was bored. Therefore 7/10 from me.

Really liked the comparison between humans and the mosquitoes with the first story. While mosquitoes find the taste of blood irresistible and get squished for it, the same premises applies here but in this case is with humans.

Regarding the second one, i still not sure how to feel about it.. i always assume that Souichi was like the "nobita" of the stories with everything he does ends up backfiring on him in the end. But this time it ended in a pretty dark note, more so then i was expecting wow >->

And thus, Ito Junji Collection has come to an end... I kind of stopped caring half way through, and then skipped a few episodes to get here, but after skimming through previous episodes, I can kind of tell I didn't really miss anything. Some of the ideas themselves were cool and all, but it all just got boring after a while, and it's not like it was really all that scary in anime form either, just kind of dull.

That being said, this episode was kind of hilarious actually, especially the nectar bit. It ended just like how it started... strangely funny, kind of awkward, kind of wtf... and with Souichi again, somehow he was the best part of this anime. Oh and the creepy model lady came back so that was... a thing... All in all, I'd give this a 5/10. I got a couple of cool ideas out of it for my own personal stories, and I now have a new kick-ass OP to listen too.
