Which anime school has the coolest architecture?

I mean as in terms of construction details, interiors, or even landscape.

In terms of style, two of my favorites are definitely Luna Nova from Little Witch Academia

or Hope's Peak from Danganronpa.

As for interiors, I really liked the one from Nisekoi, with its weirdly shaped windows and floor tiling

or the one from Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge. Those bridges across the second floor and the metallic roof structure are so cool!

And as for landscape, the one from Flip Flappers is the only one that comes to mind right now, with all that greenery on its roof.

So, do you know any other? With so many school anime, at least one of them must have caught your eye. Please show some pics if possible.

Please try to keep it as realistic as possible! Don't say something like Soul Eater, because that's just too over the top lol. I think the classroom interiors are cool tho.

Interesting topic

First which came to my mind were Totsuki

and Duel Academy

Tho, a school on a mountain or an island with active volcano isn't the best idea.

Angel Beats

Also Nagi no Askura

Pokemon S&M has pretty cool looking school

another noteworthy is the Girls und Panzer franchise.
It has school-ships with a mini society built on them.

also, Gosick has a.. sick school area. No I am not sorry about that.

Then there's Kill la Kill's academy

And wow! That one from Gosick is one of the best I've seen so far! Although it must be a pain in the ass to walk from one building to another.

I'm not sure about "coolest," but I have three schools off the top of my head that I can highlight:

First, for a really accurate recreation, I've found things from Kyoto Animation to be really well represented. An example of this would be Sakuragaoka High School in K-on, where the real life Toyosato Elementary School in Inukami District, Shiga Prefecture was turned into an actual culturally protected and preserved site. It's kind of silly, but the thought of anime having real world implications in giving real life structures and locations cultural importance is really fascinating to me.

Second, for something that's technologically enhanced, I've always found Mitakihara Middle School from Madoka Magica to be interesting to look at:

However, it's kind of nonsensical where the rooftop is just the Milan Cathedral in Italy,

or that the skyline beyond the school is Dubai.

Lastly, as a fantastical entry (since I think things like the aforementioned Soul Eater could still be interesting as imaginative thought exercises in design), the architecture of Ohtori Academy in Revolutionary Girl Utena gets super abstract at times, looking like things from Archigram and other similar avant-garde designs.

I spent an hour on this post, what the hell

@Shocked

Wow, now I just feel like a fool for having forgotten the one from Madoka Magica. Yes! To me it looks like something taken directly from near future.

I'm dumbfounded by the architecture of Utena. Some of its buildings have a lot of ressemblance to Italian futurism, with all those vertical shapes and monumental scale. Thanks for letting me know about it! Now I definitely have to check it out.

That's the point, my dude. If I hadn't asked this question, I wouldn't have found out about Utena; but now I do know.

Even so, there are many architecture styles and irl buildings that animators can grab inspiration from; so I wanted to know which of them appeal to people and why.

Apart from the school topic, I can't really describe the architecture of Naruto. It's like, modernized Japanese style? with all those narrow streets and full of ornaments, but with some weird shapes foreign to Japanese traditional architecture too.

I personally loved the design of the Rain Village.

They may not have sported the most original 'architecture' per se, but for the purposes of immersion I'd be remiss not to mention stuff like Kaiba, Rain Town, Angel's Egg, Ergo Proxy, and MONONOKE.

And yeah...Utena is a big, duh.

And the location they had the dance scene was unbelievably beautiful too:

As I stated in some other comment, I see a lot of ressemblance to Italian futurism in the shapes of Utena's buildings. So, at least to some extent, something like that could haven been possible irl (the buildings moving part was too much tho lmao.)

I totally have to watch this ASAP.

Ooh, I like this thread.

Re Utena: it looks a bit heavy on a surrealism influence for my taste, though the spiral ramp is certainly quite neat.

On the other hand, my favorite one here as far as realism goes would be:
the one from Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge. Those bridges across the second floor and the metallic roof structure are so cool!

As for simply cool/awe factor, I quite like Gosick's library tower. The outside scenery seems a bit meh but the sheer scale of the tower and the way it has a garden on top is cool.

The "green roof" in Flip Flappers is also really neat.

The way that Soul Eater lecture hall looks narrow and tall actually reminds me a lot of room 35-225 at MIT.

I'm also curious to see more of Pokémon S&M just to see the architecture in its tropical setting.

The LWA school has clear elements of gothic style mixed with some organic shapes that ressemble art nouveau, so I don't see why that's not possible.

Well, with the obvious exception of having the Philosopher's Stone inside a tower.
