| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Welp, I got what I had expected from the episode. Cute characters, shogi, awkward moments, comedy, etc. It stayed true to its premise pretty well so far in terms of storytelling. I like Ginko so far with her cool personality and presence in the series. Ai is also quite a cute girl. Not a fan of that Yaichi guy though except for his shogi skills. First episode pretty much sets up for more storytelling to come later. I expect more shogi matches and maybe even some characterization about the main characters. |

| Yaichi is quite young to have the highest title in shogi. He now has a disciple who really admires him. She's good at shogi as well. The scene of his sister catching them on top of each other was awkward. Ginko is a cool character. |

| I haven't watched it but it's the Top 1 Light Novel in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi of 2017 and 2018, so I'm pretty excited to see it, though as a guy who downloads pirated compressed episodes, I have to wait for a day for me to see it... Nah I'm gonna download it now. |

It's good at telling shogi (which apparently every critic worth their salt should love) with extensive research on the subject, but good God does it have the cringiest fanservice. |

| Very impressed with The Ryou's Work Is Never Done. The way the narrative uses the cute girl to stimulate my interest in shogi (Which I never played) is executed decently. I really want to see more layers of Yaichi and Ai's character in the next episode. I can see bits of greatness and potential if the story does not go off-track. |

| Damn, I don't care anymore, the OST is good, it's my only reason to watch it, I felt the intensity of the fight even if it's for a moment, that was really good. Yandere scene was enjoyable This anime is inspiring me to play Chess even if I'm not good at it. While I think it's absurd to see a young grandmaster, Magnus Carlsen destroyed my logic. |

| I don't mind tropes with anime girls, but I was expecting the male MC to be more cocky and full of himself, I mean he is a goddamn 8-dan at 16 (kinda unreal though), the loli is like also too overpowered genius already, at least she lost to maintain the plotline. Anyway, it was still enjoyable and I will go for the three episodes before if I continues to watch or just drop. |
| The only thing wrong here is that they don't actually show the match I know sport isn't supposed to be the main genre, but still... they could have got a lot of more attention. |

| Huh. The anime didn't even show how to play Shogi. Lol. Apparently the LNs were quite good at that part, so I'm surprised it isn't in the anime, literally, at all. Although, I didn't expect the naked loli either and I think that was in the light novel... I'm glad the animation studio is getting their priorities straight. That dragon knight guy saved the show for me. He's interesting, and I wonder what they're gonna do with the shogi battles. Although I have no idea what's going on and I'm not gonna research shogi by myself, the OST and atmosphere was well-presented. But good god, there a lot of characters, seeing that last shot of the opening. This anime could go 50/50, and I'm staying on the ride for now... But if there's more naked lolis then the FBI will probably catch me before I finish the show. |
| Exactly as I expected. Super cute loli main. Ai-chan might be best girl of the season. Good ending theme. Soundtrack fits well. Character relationships so far are predictable but enjoyable. A lot of adorable faces and poses from Ai-chan. Fun episode. Good start. |

| I love how offended people seem to get over "loli" anime. lol. Not even real people, yo. I kinda doubt the people posting here hating on it because of "pedophilia" have even watched the show. There wasn't even anything really sexual except dude falling in one scene - the thing that happens in basically every anime. And fun fact, in all of those anime the girls are underage but ya'll okay with that just cuz they're 14 instead. |

| As expected, many people kinda allergic to this kind of shows. Imo, it's a good premiere. Gave me Oreimo vibe in a good way. The characters are pretty likable, good animation and art. I do think the premise itself has some questionable aspects, but overall, pretty entertaining show with many potential |

| hearing this is actually regarded highly depiction of shogi from pros triggers the hell out of me ,since i was hoping that was the case and thinking it was gonna be genuine but then they throw all this loli bait trash in the first episode c'mon! like besides all that stuff this seems okay i just don't see how you can look at that stuff and not consider it pandering i guess on the plus side they balance it out with all those other players. this isn't my jam but ill stick around to see if it gets better or worse |

This is exactly what I feared this show would be: a rip-off "3-gatsu no Lion" with some loli-harem bullshit thrown in to drown out how ridiculous this premise is. I did a triple-take when it was revealed that this girl was able to engage him even though she's a grade schooler and has only been playing for 3 months. I call bullshit! I was even willing to put up with it, but the nude fight at the door killed it for me. |
