Alright...if in gonna drop the internet persona for a bit, I guess I'll be a bit serious.

99% of people are NOT serious....not even remotely.

Obviously the real thing is much better than the fictional.

The problem is a lot of people don't want the hassel and work that a real relationship brings.

Furthermore, some guys who are virgins or have "given up" are people who don't want to put an effort into making themselves better.

Like....you want to fuck a hot girl, but you don't care about your appearance and think girls aren't going to notice or something?!

I just realized that the girl in the first picture of the OP is "Tsubomi" who is a very popular Japanese Porn Star....and has a really great body.

I can guarantee you that almost every straight guy would instantly drop the whole "2D>3D" if they were in her presence and she actually wanted to fuck them or whatever.

This is all a joke.

And the 1% or lower that ARE serious....well, they can do as they please.

No they're not serious.
Its a joke.

Maybe this topic are specifically to "2D/3D Waifu/Husbando" which one is better "In anime vs real life".

2D > 3D because 3D girls are too much hassle for me, an uninteresting guy with no personality, lack of social skills and that's out of shape. 3D girls will not love you back, but they don't judge and require literally zero maintenance or care, just an internet connection, and money IF you want to buy figures and such. I consider it my safe space(?)

Well, if you want a female perspective for male anime characters vs. males irl...

For me I think there's good things in both male anime characters you love, and a male husband irl, and I couldn't just choose one, but I love them for different reasons.

One thing to remember though, is that 2D characters are just fantasy. Anyone can love them or claim them, not just one person.
You cannot live reality with them. You cannot have a family with them. You cannot form a real human bond or socialize with them. They're really just like dolls.

And I love dolls, but I wouldn't marry a doll. Or my numerous anime male figures.
I like to decorate my room with pretty/sexy anime boys, but I don't claim them as husbands (except rarely jokingly). I even have a dakimakura of a male anime/game character, but this is just decoration to me, the same way a kid's Pokemon-themed blankets are decoration to them.
2D cannot provide the warmth or love that a real life human being can. You can't really support each other.

And that's why I'm getting married to a human male.
He understands this, and doesn't expect me to choose between him and fictional characters/celebrities. We have plans to have a family in the future and travel together. We play games and watch anime together and we understand it's all fictional/fantasy. I let him ogle his sexy busty anime girls, and he lets me ogle my beautiful and sexy anime men. We understand it's all fictional, and we give each other the fairness that should be expected in relationships.

You can have it all when you find a person who understands you, and you accept that they may be the same way with their own preferences.
You can't expect a girl to not have her own fantasy-preferences if you have yours, and that's why I feel disappointed at the guys who feel only they can like sexy/cute girls or hentai all they want, but feel disgust at girls who like yaoi or sexy guys, yet ask why they can't find a girlfriend who likes anime/games. If this is how some guys truly are, then they probably are really best off sticking to 2D, as 2D cannot form sentience that can possibly offend them.

Some people simply may not care about such things as kids, socialization, sharing, or going out irl, so they may choose to prefer 2D characters who can't really be human or take up their "space" and time. Some could be legit asexual and not be interested sexually in humans at all.
Well, it's their choice as long as they aren't hurting any real people or breaking any laws, and stay courteous.

Most of my male friends who are into anime girls want real companionship rather than 2D, and the few I know who do claim "waifus", just joke about a character being their waifu and aren't serious about it IRL (except maybe one, but he's kind of a strange/private person so I can't tell if he's joking or not).

Honestly, I wouldn't take too seriously what people on the internet say, because there are a lot of people who try to be "funny" by exaggerating things or claiming things for the sake of shocking you.

Not very serious.

You are thinking the entire thing wrong if it somehow involves you taking people online seriously.
I'm not a lolicon, you're just projecting your tendency to lewd 2D characters.

If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

Welcome to MAL, that's the way they hate their lives as humans.
They wish those chinky cartoons exist so that their fantasy gets real. (or they live on anime world)
And those people are scums on Japan, and it already spread all over the world.
Haters always gonna hate.

I don't quite understand this "waifu"/"husbando" thing. You like an anime, you like a character but what is more about that? Collecting figurines, printed goodies and other anime related stuff is understandable but going beyond that is...beyond me lol.

I just based my answer on memes. Many people likes 2D characters rather than 3D. Maybe because they have cuter face, personality is perfect for them or their physical appearance is pleasing them. So they are 95% serious. 90% want to marry them then realizes they cannot because they are fictional. 5% for other reasons....

Of course I'm serious. I plan on literally marrying an anime character and having beautiful anime children with her.
My name is 3DPD and this is my Internet forum signature. If there's anything I've learned in 21 years of using Internet forums, it's that life is meaningless and nothing we say or do here will matter in the grand scheme of things.

Exactly. I could never get more attached to an anime character than a real person, you can't interact with an anime character. They are fun to fantasize about, but nothing compared to real human connection.

To those who say 3D is better, I ask you...have you ever felt what it is to strive for greatness?

Do you think the ancients sat around thinking "Shucks, living in caves is natural. Guess that's it then"? They became engineers. They built towers and cathedrals and the freakin' pyramids baby. Or how about space travel? We went from gazing at the stars to communing with them. Neil Armstrong walked on that moon and his footsteps remain enshrined in heavens to this day.

Our greatness can only be measured by the number of stars in the sky. By how many grains of sand make up the desert. If you say that 2D is for lonely virgin weebs, I say to you....3D is for those who gave up on humanity's unlimited potential and settled for mediocrity.

If George Freakin' Washington had drowned in the Delaware! If Albert Einstein hadn't escaped the Holocaust!! If Magellan hadn't circumnavigated the world!!!
IF THE ANCIENT GREEKS AND ROMANS HAD SAT ON THEIR ASSES WATCHING NFL ALL DAY INSTEAD OF BUILDING MARBLE STATUES AND LAYING DOWN THE GROUNDWORK FOR THE GREATEST CIVILIZATION TO DATE!

I hope you understand now why continuing the dream of making 2D>3DPD is not only noble, but an obligation to those who came before.

Let me say thay in a more proper fashion. Not everybody who prefers 2D has this, but there is an illness being studied or was studied in which effected brains prefer cartoon characters and feel love for them. Forgot its name though.

Either way, Nico is far superior.

I can't remember exactly, but I think it was a West. Also, I bring up the point of this illness because if people do have it then its very wrong to diss them over it. Actually, I think its stupid anyway. 2D characters might not be real, but they still have their good qualitities.

Right now, I'd say it's mostly a joke, but like with any popular meme, a small and growing portion is serious. How many of them feel this way by choice or just feel waifu/husbando is the safer bet, is anyone's guess.

That said, when virtual reality & sexbots really kick into high gear, Japan will go extinct. They already have one of the lowest birth rates in the world, and a huge amount of age 18-34 unmarried people, who are virgins with no interest in dating. If you're an anime fan who's given up on real relationships, naturally, the next step will be to choose a waifu/husbando who can never hurt or reject you.

Hey guys, first off I am a weeaboo.
But I'm also a bit into poetry, and globally sciences including philosophy, of all kind.
And of course I'm at the same time a normie, so I will explain to you why 3D is best.

Girls in real life : they are far better than men, guys, for a simple reason, at least in Occidental education pattern ; people educate way more their daughters...
Plus, they are half the world population, knowing I estimate unvaluable the strenght and value of thoughts of a person, so they are three billions at the moment. THEY ARE THREE BILLION INFINITE THOUGHTS ! AND I BELIEVE FIRMLY IN A LITERATURE BASED ON IDENTITIES, THEY ARE BILLIONS OF IDENTITIES.

- Sorry girls for talking about you like an object, it is because I am uneducated.

No it won't. Conditions change and birth rates go up and down. Their low birthrates are also overhyped by Western media who, for some reason, want you to think that Japan is the only country in the world that has the problem.

That problem is kinda everywhere actually, even in my country (the Netherlands) has it, but it has more to do with the conscious decision of the parents to not get like 4 or more kids, most families just settle with 2 kids there unlike in the past.
Yh ok The netherlands is not really that much in decline but still.

Sorry, let me correct my statement. You will be single for the rest of your life. I guess sex can come easy if you find a skank, or are just looking for a hooker. Or hey, maybe you're just lucky. Either way, I just try to be as "manly" as possible, in my own way of course.

Either way, what I meant to say was: finding a proper, respectful relationship, be it heterosexual, homosexual, or whatever is in between, will never result from you sitting on your ass fapping to 2D girls. But hey, if you're content with that, then go right ahead. Not for me to judge.

Actually, I've heard of people online who are in a healthy relationship who still fap to hentai. Fapping to 2D girls and not finding a girlfriend doesn't have much correlation.

Claiming that it has no correlation is quite a stretch. It's not a certainty that it would stop someone from having one, it's just very likely that it will impact their ability to have one. Regardless of what people claim, it's just my opinion, based on my experiences.

I said much, not "no". Saying its "very likely" to impact their ability to have a gf/bf doesn't really make any sense to me. How would wanking it to hentai affect their chances of scoring a girlfriend?
