Out of the shows I've watched so far, Classroom of the Elite and Gamers have been some of the more lack luster shows. Either due to plot structure or redundancy. |

I only watch 3 shows, Classroom of Elite by far the worst I watch out of three. The execution, and nonsensical story is really bad. I like the art and the opening, though. |

Urara Meichorou (I hope I said it right) I mean I expected something more than just CGDCT... then again that was my biggest fault for expecting a story out of it when I should've known it was just gonna be Slice of Life. But regardless, they honestly could've done better. If were talking about this season.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYU2UYEAXGY |

Kono2Suba took a giant fall. The animation was improved, the opening sequence is legendary, and the first two episodes are hilarious. That's it. That's all my praise for S2. The first two episodes got it right so much that it S2 was poised to rise ever higher. The trial was funny and the two new set-to-be-recurring character provides so much room for inventive interactions. The bath scene in E02 just hit all the right notes. Then they decided "Hey wait a minute, Aqua is a dumbass and Darkness is a masochist, let's milk that so hard". Genius. Yeah, make it stale, repetitive, and predictable. |

Disappointing? Hell Girl Season 4, honestly. I did not think the producers behind the 4th season would be such big cheapskates. Renai Boukun for having poor comedy intermixed with rushed development and pacing. Masamune's Revenge for fucking up a pretty basic formula. Everything else I had no expectations before or during the first episodes. To add on, Hajimete's Loli looks little like her manga counterpart. |

There have actually been quite a few flops for me, but probably because I set my expectations a little too high. 1. Shoukoku no Altair- I was so excited for this when I saw the PV- it looked like it had smooth animation, MAPPA was behind it, and SID were on the soundtrack. Not only that, but it looked like a nice mix of Magi and Arslan Senki (both of which are pretty solid anime). Unfortunately, I struggled to even get through the first episode with all the Turkish jargon thrown around. It's like they just presume the audience have PhDs in Ottoman and Turkish Studies. Animation wasn't great either, surprisingly. 2. Sakurada/Sagrada Reset- I was looking forward to a cool, mystery anime from the studio behind JoJo. Unfortunately there was nothing good about it- bland protag-kun, bland music, bland conversations and plain bad exposition, and godawful visuals. nobody wanted this DavidPro...we wanted JoJo Part 5 and this is not gonna earn the cash to help make that happen 3. Touken Ranbu- Typical Ufotable with all their style and no actual substance. I've said it before and I'll say it again...the only decent anime they've made is Fate/Zero. This time around, I thought we'd get something noteworthy with a gripping story, but the characters are just soulless archetypes, the animation quality is inconsistent, the plot is disengaging, and the soundtrack-whilst decent- just sounds like it's been ripped from the Fate stuff they've adapted. 3. Nestuou TRap- finally, an actual Yuri anime with actual smut...and not only are the episodes too short to actually go anywhere, but the art and animation are sub-par at best. Like, at least make the smut look pretty. Good grief. Citrus better not disappoint me now too 5. Kakegurui- I was expecting a high stakes, psychological gambling anime that kept me on the edge of my seat. What I got instead was a load of cookie-cutter "crazy" girls oversexualizing their gambling exploits and some random self-insert dude so the audience can project themselves onto him. Not to mention my problem with the games themselves. The only thing I like about Kakegurui is its fantastic soundtrack. I could go on and on and on really, but these are the worst ones. So yeah, it's not been a great year for anime imo bar about two or three series. Here's to hoping that Fall will be more pleasing!! |

I'm surprised Konosuba S2 has been mentioned. I thought that while Darkness's masochism was over used a bit, the rest of it was genuine character interaction. Each episode was another play on the antics between them and that's all I really expected from it. |

This has basically turned into "Greatest disappointments of the season". With that in mind, nothing disappointed me because I never had any expectations, but some shows made me sad because they would've gave me great expectations. Koi to Uso made me keep thinking, man it'd be so much better if they did this instead (Like seriously, so much I thought that). The Mahoutsukai no Yome OVA went from depressing, to more depressing, to basically a filler episode. It's first episodes made me think it was building up to a third emotional climax, but I was left instead with the incomplete climax of the second episodes ending. Other than that, Kuzu no Honkai would've been good if they just removed the loli. What we get with a loli is a frankly childish insistence on symmetry among the main cast. There are a number of other flaws, particularly the monologuing, but still. And of course, Masamune no Revenge, which went from a typical "I'm kinda bored so I'm gonna drop it" to "There were only three episodes left so I thought I might as well finish it, and after finishing it I hate it with a burning passion because it baited a sequel I would never want to watch, and deprived me of my catharsis" I might as well throw in Fuuka as well, which I actually was quite satisfied with. That was before I found out how the manga ended. At which point I was screaming at myself "man that would've been awesome" |

Maybe Koi to uso because I doubt there's going to be a conclusion at this point, well like a lot of other anime out there anyway. lol Classroom of the Elite could have been a lot better! If only they didn't change the story so much... I thought Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni would be more funny. |

It occurs to me that the Spring season didn't really have too many shows that would prove disappointing. All the ones i saw either left me feeling satisfied or impartial. In retrospect I've gotta add Masumune-kun no Revenge to my list of disappointments. That show left something to be desired. Other than that most of the disappointments come from this season. |

Boruto - I thought the movie was actually pretty good for a Naruto movie but the anime is so slow. They really wrecked Shino's character by reducing him to a comedic character and aside from the main 3 (and occasionally cho-cho) the characters are just slightly altered versions of their parents. Also SnK 2 was kind of disappointing pacing-wise. |

Sakura Quest - I was expecting another Shirobako or Hanasaku Iroha in this title but at some point it started to be way too slow and boring. I like the idea but it gives you a feeling that it could end in 12-13 episodes, instead of twice as much. |

Seikaisuru Kado: Started out with some cool alien technology that humans had to decide if such an abrupt change would improve their way of life. Then the end decided to force some conflict which was solved with one of the most boring couples in anime having a kid. Isekai Shokudou for this season. Didn't have half the charm Sweetness and Lightning had and there are too many characters with uninteresting backstories for me to give a shit about any of them. |

So Far: -Gabriel DropOut (for being one of the most boring comedies I had the displeasure to watch, a corpse would be funnier than all the four main characters together) -Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul (the worst offender of the list, because it started very well, but went to shit as soon as the second half started) -Shoukoku no Altair (not as bad as the other examples, but the pacing is so rushed is hard to fully enjoy, I swear they are adapting things who could have adapted even in three episodes in one) -Tales of Zestiria the X 2nd Season (the first season wasn't that good, but at least the pace wasn't a mess) -Vatican Kiseki Chousakan (same as Tales of Zestiria, but not as bad) -Rokudenashi Majutsu Koushi to Akashic Records (I didn't expected much of this to begin with, but the show following the same pattern through it arcs got boring quickly) |

Let's see... Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: I had a lot of expectations for this one but the side characters killed it (ironically, Fafnir was clear best character to me), Ahegao girl was terrible and her reaction face was so annoying. Elma had an introduction scene and after that she basically became a 30 seconds food joke, but the clear worst part of the series was Lucoa, her boob molesting jokes with the kid were just incredibly off putting, I'm actually surprised that MAL has it rated so highly rated considering that they shit on stuff like that all the time, but well... Renai Boukun: The idea was so promising and the start was a lot of fun, but it got stale quickly IMO, the worst part is that I'm not sure if the show knew what it wanted to be, like, random comedy, then sadist girl starts torturing the MC for real and not for comedy, then random drama, back to comedy, more drama, what. Now I'm going for series I didn't have expectations at first but they positively surprised me, to only end up dsappointed: Masamune-kun no Revenge: The setting was actually pretty interesting, but it lead to nothing, the last episode had me laughing of "you can't end it here, right?" Akashic Records: tbh the only anime from its genre that I like is Rakudai, and that's the exact feeling I had after the first episode, but after that... it was actually pretty nice! Well, at least until Re=L took the spotlight and just made the show another expected meh anime. Re:Creators: Just finished today, awesome setting and promising start, but after that a good number of episodes just became super boring to watch, it ended up being pretty underwhelming. And the clear winner of this year to me, motherfucking Seikaisuru Kado, it came out of nowhere and hooked me so hard with the idea of the series, but the last 4 episodes were so shockingly terrible in comparison to the rest of the series, still hurts. |

If my expectations are low, it is not disappointing to ended up watching trash (Isekai Smartphone). I will focus on something that looked promising. Sekaisuru Kado - Good sci-fi anime at first, with a lot of philosophical questions that turned into a Mahou Shoujo fight somehow. Classroom of the Elite - Downhill after ep 7. The plot never recovered from ep 6 highs. Kakegurui - I should never read the manga BEFORE watching these kind of shows Re:Creators - Pacing/Continuity problems of the plot. Lacks any real interaction between the antagonist (Altair) and the Heroes/Creators/MCs until the very end. Masamune-kun no Revenge - Hm, revenge against an abusive tsundere character? Promising. After: Jesus Christ! That was an abomination. |
