When you see things like this, does it make you change your tune on whether or not you watch anime?

Thread about memes but without mentioning JoJo?

No it doesn't because they are mostly fun after having watched the show, not before.

Well I usually don't see memes until after I watch the series. I don't understand how it would "affect" the way you watch anime though...

I don't think I've seen this before. The PS Vita meme seems like something I would get.

First of all those images suck get better taste in memes.

As for the general question yes, the more popular series will be memed more thus they will draw in a larger audience and the cycle will continue. Even a single meme can bring enough of a memorable reference to a series to get people to watch it. It's basically new age advertising and after a person actually watches the series and understands the references it shifts to more of an inside joke.
I've also never seen a meme that made me avoid a show, but a single gif can cause me to add a show to my plan to watch.

Not really. I just hate memes like boobs equal plot. Other than I don't care for most memes. People tend to overused them to point where it not even funny anymore.

The term "Weeb" is practically a meme now.

If you've ever watched any anime, even if it was one episode, or hell, if you even recognize anime....you're a weeb!

Thanks internet!

No so much anime memes but I love anime references in general, at least ones I get, so when a anime itself goes and uses an actual meme in its show, I find it pretty amusing.

Like the reaction guys meme has been seen in several anime such as Bakemonogatari, Higarashi and I recall even seeing it in a hentai.

Because everything has to be a joke nowadays....

Literally EVERYTHING.

If 9/11 had happened in 2016....I can guarantee you that memes would've popped up before the bodies were recovered.

And when people would be justifiably outraged by the insensative jokes....they would be called "cucks", "sjws", and "PC".

We're in too deep now....memes literally made the most powerful man on this planet what he is.

Memes are too strong.

Both.
Like those last 2 there are much better Hisoka memes that are just ripped right out of the show.
The second one technically checks out because of meme of the month trends but there's a better version with a notably better caption.
So to sum it up you need a new meme dealer they're giving you the weak stuff.

They used to, back when you could post pictures and gifs in anime comment sections. Since then, my exposure to quality anime memes has been severely limited. Now they have about as much influence as a Boku no Pico recommendation.

Memes are really just a bunch of inside jokes. If you aren't "in" on it, then you wouldn't find it funny. Essentially I'm saying that the anime I watch affect the enjoyment I would find in memes, not the other way around.
I'm not a lolicon, you're just projecting your tendency to lewd 2D characters.

If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

I've found memes to be a great way of finding anime I never would have watched on my own. Memes and reaction gifs are the only reason I ended up watching Nisekoi. And I didn't even begin regretting it until I started reading the manga.

That's not true. Some people have dark humor and some others can't laugh about those things.
People cope in their own different ways with tragic events and they just have a different taste of humor. It's not like the event itself was actually funny to you and everyone with dark humor would be a psychopath without empathy and thinks: hehe, dead people, how funny lol.

Sometimes it's cool to see an anime meme and then be like "ah, I get it" but for the most part anime memes are shit and made by kids who's meme game is trash.

The anime creating memes from what it does and naturally being a meme is cool with me.

An anime that is trying hard to be memes and appealing to just that like Eromanga Sensei is dogshit and should not be supported.

I don't hang out in places that post these memes and I prefer it that way since these memes mostly suck and I enjoy anime more when I get to take them seriously on my own terms rather than try to socialize over them only to result in my experience of them being trivialized with cheap humor.

Looking at memes and 'cat' sites in general is just a waste of time. 99% of 'funny' pictures is actually not funny at all anyway. Screw this and other crappy reddit 'humour'.

But it's kinda convenient. When I see anyone who is using 'weeb' term, then I know immediately that he is an idiot and I don't need to lose my time replying him.

The fanbase affects how I perceive them. That's all.

For example: The Dream Daddy fanbase has made me completely want to stay away from the series. I'm glad I watched Yuri on Ice before I saw how ugly the fanbase was.
