This episode is not good for newcomer(I mean, people who didn't read novel version).
I hope this anime will be better in next episode.

I don't know. I haven't seen the source and I had no idea this existed before seeing it on the airing list and I found it extremely charming in its own little way. It had its faults but at the same time it had a very sturdy foundation. It definitely doesn't appeal to those who want something really action-y or fast-paced, but I believe there is something there for the rest of us.

I really enjoyed this episode. Its like one of those animes you watch after a long rough day, Its just charming. The visuals were great first of all,one look at the crisp visuals and I knew I was going to love this anime and I just got back from anime expo so It was nice to unwind with a new anime. The food in this anime looks good after I saw how good the beef stew looked,I was hungry right away! What i loved the most is actually a pretty simple scene. The scene at the start of the episode where the customers from the other world are arguing what goes best with white rice. I was laughing and it was something so simple but it was cute and when the chief said "youre being too rowdy if you dont stop i wont cook for you again" they sit down and say "lets enjoy our meal shall we?" it goes to show that even creatures from other worlds love our food! Now my favorite part was seeing the dragon lady at first when it showed her naked I was worried about dumb fan service but thank god there was none of that. when she walked in and asked for beef stew my god the beef stew looked so good! and ive always loved dragons growing up as a kid so I really want to know more about her and how the other worlds work too. I also really want to know how the chief got into making foods for other worlds. does it run in the family maybe? but ethier way ill be watching this. We for sure have a hidden gem here

3 words to sum it up: boring food porn. I'm getting seriously sick of series fetishising food. It's not pleasant to watch, it's not interesting and it's not funny unless it's Yakitate Japan.

Beating the dead horse is getting really overboard. Games, isekai and food got so overused in recent years looking for something watchable is like digging through landfill looking for a clean tissue.

Hot damn! I knew this was gonna be one of the better anime of the season.
Not sure if it will be one of the gems,or the gem, gonna need more development and episodes for that. But still this is a pretty good, well paced, calm, lore rich, and realistic (regarding the characters and overall feel) story.

+ Its a fantasy mystery genre type of anime which has me wondering and on the edge of my seat cuz fuck those are the best genres.
😏

Can't tell what the dragon lady's prob is and what she talks about half the time, might just be the translation.Or something that will be revealed later

Pretty average and lackluster episode. Would have liked it more if the directing wasn't so basic and the episode wasn't filled with so much flat monologues and needless expositions. They even make the chef guy say "I'm tired" right after he yawns, as if the yawn wasn't good enough to get the message across.

But the part where the demon girl wakes up and enters the restaurant was the most egregious one. That entire scene would have been infinitely better if they just showed her surprise and confusion mostly through her expressions and body language, instead of making her annoyingly ramble out loud every thought that crossed her mind.

Wonderful first episode. OP song is nice & catchy. ED song is peaceful & great.
Art is good. Love relaxing slice-of-life shows & with a fantasy element which is cool.

Tenshu is a man to be respected. Would love to go to his restaurant. The food looks great & delicious, although watching this is now making me hungry.
The Red Dragon Lady is looking good.

So nice of Tenshu to give Aletta a meal and a job. She looks great in her uniform.

Looking forward to more.

4/5- I liked this a lot. The animation is stellar and the soundtrack is relaxing. The premise is interesting enough for me as well.

Aletta is pretty adorable and I was kinda bummed that she was treated that way for being different. I'm not a fan of characters who are discriminated against because the writer is practically begging the viewer to get behind this person. I'll make an exception for her though because I feel like she's someone I can get behind.

Also, Aletta is a very cute name and I have no idea why I like that name so much.

Dood, I was on the brink of salivating whenever I saw any of the food. I did come in watching this a little hungry but those dishes look delicious.

I'm sorta meh about the OP but I absolutely love the ED. I'm interested on how the chef and Aletta will work together from then on. I'm also interested in the type of characters that will be appearing in the restaurant in the coming episodes. And of course, I'm excited to see characters from a different world roam our planet. I always found it fun when a fantasy-type characters interact with our modern world.

A nice relaxing and different take from the loads of isekai series out there. I like it.

With an awesome set of seiyuu cast like
Itou Shizuka, and Sugita Tomokazu Plus the OP and ED is sung by May'n and Yasuno Kiyono. How awesome is that?

Pretty unusual combination of things here, with the food porn and isekai together, but it seems to work well enough so far, although I will express my concerns about how much depth this premise can possibly have.

A pretty decent first episode. I like the concept of a restaurant for magical creatures and they certainly do make the food look good, which I guess is kinda important for a show about cooking.

I could have done without the ecchi though. They somehow managed to objectify the only two female characters we have seen so far.
Maybe they should leave the nudity to Food Wars.

So many people eating throughout the episode. I'm glad I decided to watch it while eating breakfast myself. Food anime make me too hungry otherwise.

AvidAnimeViewer said:
This was advertised and built up as an isekai story, which is what drew me in since it's different from the usual fantasy adventure isekai stories that make up like 90% of the genre. Though this just seems like an ordinary slice of life fantasy which is great considering there haven't been many of those recently. Gonna have to wait for more episodes to form a solid opinion though. If this does well, we might see more of the occupational isekai stories adapted, like Parallel World Pharmacy, The Hero and His Elf Bride Open a Pizza Parlor, or I'm OP, but I Began an Inn.

Shiawase no Pan was a good anime, so I'm all in favor of more anime like this.

Rhodomotor said:

Welcome to the wonderful world of slice-of-life, where nothing happens, and yet the viewers ask for more of that.
More seriously, they have introduced the setting, and told us Alette's story. Seems pretty good for a beginning.

Lelouch0202 said:
They did do some world building this episode but they weren't too clear about it. Are the human and demonic worlds separate or are they one in the same? Aletta mentions having taken a job in a human capital but then at the end of the episode she mentions 'she needs to find a job on this side as well.' Apart from my doubts about the world setting, the premise itself is really simple and I'm sure I'll enjoy this slow and sweet show. :)

It seems that the restaurant connects to only two worlds: one normal, the other fantasy. So the dragon lady can just fly to where Aletta lives.
Given that Aletta could just run away from her city to the human capital, it seems demons live in the same fantasy world too.
Or maybe the dragon lady can cross dimensions, and doors like the one to the restaurant are common enough for a runaway demon girl to use one to get to fantasy human country.

HaXXspetten said:
Can a human-sized meal really fill a dragon once she returns to her real form? Or does she hunt like normal in her own world too

Well, Tohru and other dragons from Kobayashi-san chi no maid dragon seemed to get by with human-sized portions just fine.
Maybe it's because any dragon with realistic food requirements will devastate the countryside, or at least terrorize a great amount of land.
Manatrophic dragons that only eat for structural elements, not energy, are more like most modern portrayals of dragons.

Fuk-Go-Baaack said:

She is an epic boss dragon, and like any dragon, she obsesses over treasure. She likes the food so much she considers the whole restaurant her treasure.
Her manner of speech is just her being ancient and epic.
It is not clear if she is the one who set up the restaurant to work like that, but she is epic enough for that.

ok maybe objectify isn't the best choice of words, and honestly I didn't care about the nudity when the dragon lady changed into human form because well...that makes sense, dragons don't wear clothes. But did we really need to see Aletta take a shower?

Nice episode. Similar feeling as Yokai Apato (calm non-action anime). But I liked this a bit more because of the fantasy. The mix of different races and them almost starting a fight because of the food (at the start) was interesting. Didn't like the dragon that much. The new waitress girl is nice though.

It seems there are 2 worlds (human world + fantasy world) - or more than 2 worlds but the waitress girl + dragon seem to be from the same world at least.

Might be nice to see her in her normal life in that world as well but I guess most of the time will be at the restaurant. (Might also be nice to see the owner in his normal free time ... if he got any free time ... in the human world. I gues he has normal work time on the other days and only at that 1 day where he is in fantasy world doing very long with almost no sleep once a week.)

I didn't expect this show to be this chill and relaxing. I like it! =D

I can't help but think about how the cafe's door can connect to multiple worlds, but I can worry about about that another time, if it ever gets explained that is. Just seeing different species and creatures from these worlds all conversing and eating at the same cafe in the human world was really interesting to watch.

The Lion demanding a second serving made me laugh though. ^_^

Along with the nice art and animation, I think this show will be a bit of a hidden gem this season, and also a good appetiser for the upcoming Food Wars season 3 coming in October.

Great episode overall. =)

Good thing I ate before watching this, since the food looked really delicious. Actually, even though I ate, it still managed to make me hungry.
But seriously now, this had an interesting first episode that gives enough information to know what to expect, but leaves us wanting more, like a small dish made from the most exotic but priciest ingredients.
I like that the MC is actually an older bara-ish male chef voiced by Junichi Suwabe. Don't see those types of MCs all that often anymore.
Kinda feels like a mix of GATE, Ristorante Paradiso and Outbreak Company (replace otaku culture with food) with a dash of Interviews With Monster Girls and Flying Witch.
This and Youkai Apartment might be good iyashikei-type shows if they keep holding a soothing atmosphere. Definitely excited to see how well this does!
