| Update: Ever since @ mentions were introduced, this feature became even more needed. Now, alongside having to go through the process listed in the OP, the person mentioned also receives multiple notifications of being mentioned. |

| Just post a new comment. Problem solved. I can see why people in threads want edit function to be enabled - because some threads need the 1st post to be updated constantly. Without edit you'd have to always make a new thread with updated 1st post. But comments are different. A few days later they might already be back on another page of comments (if lots of other people posted comments after that) - and unlike threads where people still should look at the 1st posts most people wouldn't even see that older comment. Since MAL hasn't reacted and this probably is an easy thing to implement (no coding just enabling it somewhere) I doubt they are planning to change it. |
| I've been asking for this since 2011, so it's not like the admins/mods don't know about it. And during that time, CraveOnline were our owners, so we sure as hell weren't going to get it then. We now have DeNA in control, but they aren't even working on the clubs at the moment. So unless they feel like adding this out of the blue, it probably won't be added until the clubs get the overhaul treatment (if they do, that is). |

Thanks for the heads up el_marco - still, seeing that the specific functionality already exists in the profile comments, I'd think it wouldn't be all that much effort to adapt it for the clubs. And to be honest, with MAL's overall efforts that seem to be the enhancement of the forums to the detriment of the clubs, I don't see a Club Overhaul coming |

| I agree that we need an edit button, but I'm sure there must be a technical reason why the Admins haven't implemented it, it seems like people have been begging for it for ages, but haven't asked why we can't have it, the Admin's aren't just ignoring us are they? I mean it might be the same reason why when you post a comment to someone's profile, you can't edit when they're online and seen it, but you can edit it before it. Perhaps it's to avoid people hiding evidence of abuse, or maybe it's something to do with how the MAL servers store messages. If anyone got any insight in me I wouldn't mind them tagging me in and filling me in <3 |

| @Rayaxe, no, it's because MAL system is bloody old, like really, literally years old. And implementing new features requires a lot of work. And the only way to avoid this work is to update MAL system. As in - from the very core. Which requires much much more hard work. And it can go two ways: 1) for some period of time, from hours to days, completely stop MAL server(s), update the system and then go back online in all new fresh glory. But knowing MAL owners it's impossible - they don't want to lose their precious ad clicks, any of it. 2) Implement a mirror server(s), install new system on that mirror and then just switch main server to mirror, which also requires some time but much less than in 1st method. And again, knowing MAL owners, this will never happen - because making a bloody mirror server for such a big and lively site as MAL will cost a lot of money. In short, we're screwed. |

Not quite true, the system is developed in PHP, and there are standard practices for developing feature and functionality for this type of code, and PHP is a much easier type of code to deploy than, say, Java or c# (although it can be argued about the latter). It's true that it is becoming an old system, almost Legacy, but seeing that they have recently made updates in the clubs means that at least some of the developers have familiarity with the code that supports the clubs. And also seeing that the code we are talking about is nearly identical to the profile code, which means that they have a quasi-blueprint they can follow. At the end of the day, the fact is is that making updates to the clubs does not seem to be a priority for DeNa or the powers that be who are managing MAL right now. First, you can update a comment on a profile for about a minute or two, and second, if you've made a comment and then update it, the receiver will see the original comment if they look fast enough and will then need to refresh their screen to see any edits. As for the MAL supporter, I can attest that there is a higher response rate for that. I put in a notice of a bug affecting one of the perks of the MAL supporter system, and it was responded to and fixed almost immediately. |

LOL @Kitsune0 - I'm a IT Project Manager, so I have a lot of developers and such who work for me. You wouldn't believe how common that statement is when they simply don't want to do something. That being said, they do have to make sure they regression test everything, and it can be a pain in the ass |

| @elkensteyin well you can't blame them for prioritising paying users over us normies who just watch ads or use Adblock. I noticed the website was in PHP too, I'm not to familiar with web development, but I know many PHP made websites that have features MAL lacks. I do sort of feel like it's them being lazy here, but can't factors such as a "rigid old system" make it hard for them to implement the edit feature? I'm a total noob when it comes to web development, servers etc, idk how the sites on the internet work in that much depth, so forgive the ignorance |

Well, I will say that it's unfair to call them lazy. Most developers I know aren't lazy - they just only want to work on things that they want to, rather than be told what to do. So, while they will say that this is "hard' or 'it's a fragile system' or whatever, that's a crock - it's simply not an interesting area of functionality for them, nor is there a major push from above to force them to work on it. |

| The change would require little to no work, considering all that has to be done is for the profile comments logic to be included (literally mirrored) in the club comments logic as well. They are essentially exactly the same. |

It vacuums up a lot of activity that could otherwise be going to the clubs on this site. We're still capable of making our own servers and bringing attention to them through our club, although it did hurt clubs themselves a lot. But even then, you can go to the clubs tab and it shows the most recently active clubs. Activity has declined on the whole, but it's not like the club scene is devoid of life or anything even remotely resembling that. - Also, do I get bonus points for backing this up if I run the sixth largest club on this site? :P Because I really, really want this to be a thing. It's such a pain to ping somebody in the club comments, then have to delete it and send them a second notification because the image I posted didn't work. I'm already past having to sit there and look at grammatical errors or make a second club comments to add any additional comments, but Iunno man, these kind of issues with pings and such just make me feel bad for even using them ._. |
