 Director Masaaki Yuasa (Ping Pong The Animation, Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) revealed a new original film titled Yoake Tsugeru Lu no Uta (Lu Over the Wall) on Thursday. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters in Japan on May 19. Yoake Tsugeru Lu no Uta is Masaaki Yuasa's first film to feature an original story. The story centers on Kai, a gloomy middle school student whose life changes after meeting Lu, a mermaid. Cast Lu: Kanon Tani (Kimi no Na wa.) | Nice, a movie. Yuasa never let me down so far (lowest I gave was a high 7/10) and that's really impressive after 5 shows. Bring on the quality. |

| Ive been thinking about the unannounced project with yuasa and kiyotaka oshiyama, and i think oshiyama may direct it. I'd be worried about yuasas health if he did 2 films and a tv series all at the same time, not to mention a dip in quality if yuasas even capable of that. Just thought that was an interesting thought I'd share. |
| 2017 is saved. Two (maybe three?) Yuasa anime in one year. This one looks like a bit of a departure from his previous work, but not in a bad way. |

| God, it's funny how much people complain about unoriginality with other tropes but never fail to be excited about 'bland boy meets mystical manic pixie dreamgirl' I do like Yuasa, I'm disappointed he chose such a typical storyline. It's where the profit lays tho (check out Bakemononomo franchise) so fuck I guess. |
