I'm always surprised when recap movies (even with slithers of new footage) sell relatively well. In a couple of week the sales of Hibike! will be around that of the volumes themselves which is impressive. Also nice to see that Musaigen no Phantom World keeping steady sales, at least it didn't bomb. |

You have some very low expectations of sales if this is what you consider "selling well", "impressive" and "not bombing". As a comparison, Chuunibyou's recap movie sold over 11k copies, more than twice as much as Euphonium. And Phantom World is the 2nd worst selling Kyoani production in history. |

Average sales per volume is a more meaningful metric to use than total sales, because not every anime has equal number of volumes. However, the lowest selling volume of an anime is an even better metric to use, since it indicates how many people actually bought all volumes of an anime, provided there are no stock issues of course. In the case of Season 2, it is more complicated than just looking at disc sales. It all depends on who is on the production committee, as the higher ranked members will have more of an influence than the lower ranked ones since they have a higher investment into the project. |

AS far as Material goes..RE:zero has proven to be a success in japan...not only in dvd/blu ray sale but it has made a lot of money from the merchandise..cd tracks...ln volumes published..so as a franchise as whole..it is very succesfull. The Author already stated he wants to make more of the anime...he even haltes his writing to work close with the studio to help in it's development..as for material..officaly only 9 volumes are out with vol 9 ending the third arc right were the anime will finish. However there is enough content in the web novel that it is up to the current sixth arc...the fourth arc alone is worth another 2 cour. Also seeing as how Emilia is the focus on that arc and has had the least amount of development..i think it is safe to say that a s2 is almost garunteed. It could be annouced at the end or between 1 to 2 years just as when the volumes for the fourth arc come out. The volumes are released quite fast like once every four months..so it will take less than 2 years. |

This might reduce depending on how much the future volumes will sell but the average is 10k per volume right now. Volume 3 surprisingly hasn't broke that 10k line. Volume 1 should have broken 12k by now and Volume 2 should break the 11k in the next week or two ( we will have to wait for extended rankings to know for sure ). What we do know is that neither volume 1 or 2 have ever left the top 200 which is pretty much always a guarantee for at least 200 sales per week. Well you have to consider that volume 3 is only in its 3rd week right now and that it's the first volume to suffer from a missing event ticket. Usually the overall drop in sales is about 50% but volume 3 shows to have close to no drop at all. This shouldn't be confused with the common decrease that happens the more volumes have released. So in that regard volume 3 is doing fantastic. So it will eventually break the 10k and probably even the 11k over the course of another 5 months. Volume 4 already shows promise to even have a stronger first week than the third volume. It's currently sitting at 6.1k estimation and it doesn't show any sign to leave the top 50 rankings. At this point it's likely to have a 1k+ higher estimate than the third volume. If the volume 1-3 add another 1k in 5 months and the other volumes reach at least 8.5k-9k a 10k average will be reached. Then again we have to realize that BD/DVD sales are not the main priority which makes these solid numbers appear even better. |

I said the movie sold 'relatively' well as a recap film compared to the volumes which is right no? I did not say it sold well / sold impressively in general which you have taken from misreading what I put. The Chuuni comparison, I'm sure the Chuuni BDs sold much more than Hibike so I don't see your point. As for Phantom World, second worst selling it may be but compared an average of 2k at least across the seven volumes is not something I'd consider a bomb. Below expectations? Maybe. Something I'd consider a bomb is Kiznaiver. |

If they could release several at one month apart then it would greatly move up the date for any anime season 2 if they chose to fund it. May depend on what happens to the novel sales once the anime ends. Perversely, if the novel sales continue to be high without anime they may delay season 2; novel sales dropping may increase the chance of a quick second season.Gattmartna said: AS far as Material goes..RE:zero has proven to be a success in japan...not only in dvd/blu ray sale but it has made a lot of money from the merchandise..cd tracks...ln volumes published..so as a franchise as whole..it is very succesfull. You just named all of the volume releases that were affected by the anime production. He released the first two arcs back to back monthly but the slowed down because he wanted to change a lot in the third arc where he made several "mistakes" in his opinion. We shouldn't forget tho that he also released the Ex Novels, Tanpenshuu and several side stories at the same time. The upcoming 4th arc is already extremely refined as it is since this is the first arc that Tappei wrote with the knowledge of where he wants to go with the story and where he applied his gathered knowledge from the rewriting process. So because of that we can certainly expect a volume to drop every month - every 2 months which would make the 4th arc and with that the season 2 content finished in the midst of 2017. |

Indeed at the start they were released monthly. Thanks for the explanation. I do wonder at times if the 4th arc being already more refined in the web novels will hurt the sales of the actual light novels. Already the novel sales are a bit odd, you would have expected them to be caught up by now but the later volumes are still lagging even though they have now been covered in the anime. |

I got to say that tracking the release dates of this series is rather tedious lol. I don't think so. There still will be changes and a big part of purchasing a LN volume in the first place is the collector instinct. Yeah the sales are rather focused on the very first volumes but if recent LN adaptation taught us anything then that a big chunk of people seem to buy the whole LN series after the anime adaptation is done. I also think that the very frequent releases of new volumes will boost other volumes as well. |

@Fappa from the number of unread LN on my shelf I know that many are for collecting. Sadly I can buy them faster than I can read them... maybe one day I will read them all but it is unlikely. Ah well, I buy to support, to collect, and to read them in that order. @RedaJaNai GaruPan movie is one of the best selling late night anime related movies of all time. 200K+ copies is indeed outstanding. @amare95 Shokugeki no, Souma S2 v1 isn't out until September 28th for BD and strangely a DVD Box on November 23rd so we don't know its sales numbers yet but its Stalker sales prediction is low. That said, S1 only sold 2K copies and yet it got S2 so who knows? As we've mentioned time and time again, sequel decisions are complicated and cannot be determined from disc sales alone. You'll just have to wait and see if there is an announcement for S3. |
