Good sales for B project but I know they were hoping for more.

Nah, I think they're pretty satisfied. The anime has a lot of QUALITY moments in the later episodes. The CD sales skyrocketed after the anime, even the old CD's released back in ~2015.

It'll probably also sell decently after the event ticket drop too and considering how most anime in 2016 are selling, I'd say they're doing fine.

More anime and more anime every year is actually a bad thing I think. Sales are now spread out even more, because anime fans already had limited purchasing power every season. You have 2~3 anime per season that made the cut for fans to buy, while there are now more anime within a season that will not end up being bought by these fans.

Well, streaming in the West for anime has already been around for many years compared to Japan. I think the drastic change in buying habits lately, has been due to some more streaming options available for Japanese fans (as CR is region restricted in Japan). Ameba TV is one big example, that has gotten bigger over the last year or so. LINE LIVE is also starting to stream anime live at the same time as the TV broadcast (see Love Live! SunShine for example).

As I said before, Japanese fans already have 2~3 anime per season that they buy due to limited purchasing power. Having more anime available doesn't make them more stingy, since they were already going to buy 2~3 anime per season. It's just that more anime will not make the cut per season. This is a bad thing I think, as it may influence production committees to play it safe and go for something that is highly likely to succeed (such as idol anime, or sequels of franchises, etc).

Yeh i know that money-wise as you said more anime doesnt mean its a good thing, its simply as i said they will start to care less about the bd-dvd sales and focus more into the streamin money. While most anime will serve really just as promotional stuff since it aint gonna sell anyway thats why we lately see at certain anime some bad animation and rushed work due small budget and just to binge interest for ppl to buy the manga/LN then instead of discs which are expansive. Anyway since we will never know how much money they waste on each anime to make it and how much they get from all the various streamin, sponsors, discs, goods etc. We simply wont know if this trend of makin more anime is better for them or worse. Cuz if it were really bad then i think they would quickly stop doin so many and revert back to how it was back few years when we had much less anime per season.

Your thinking is too simplistic here. Each anime project consists of a production committee. A well balanced franchise that sells well in terms of music, Anime, merchandise, original source material, etc, means that all members of the production committee should see profit on their investment. A poor selling TV Anime would be bad news for some members of the production committee who rely on the sales from BD/DVD, while it may be okay for others due to a boost to original source material or the music sales may be good. There are some franchises that fit a well balanced description, but this number is typically a small percentage of the number of anime currently airing.

Sad year in sales maybe but i think it more all goes into quantity then quality since we get each year more and more anime. Studios like JC Staff, Deen for example even doin at times 3anime per season. But even so we still get a few good ones each year then from the studios that maybe do 1 or just 2 anime a year.
And there is also the thing with streamin at CR,Funi etc i think they are gettin good money from them so the disc sales are becoming less and less relavent for how successfull some anime was.
So yeah as long we will keep gettin more and more anime each season jpn ppl will be more carefull as to what to buy since this stuff aint exactly cheap.

Because of the hype for Kimi no na Wa. It's a smash hit it seems and it's even generating interest for the directors previous films.

Glad to see it myself.
Ah, yeah I guess that makes sense

That's really saying something about how popular Kimi no Na wa is though

A hit is an understatement. It's a phenomenon in years. It had one of the most impressive second weekends in history, only Howl's Moving Castle out of all anime movies managed to do better by total revenue on its second weekend, and it's the only one to do that great while being made by a non established studio. It broke (or almost broke) some other records too...

Love Live Sunshine already saved Summer anime. B-Project just made Summer look better...

To be honest, I only see 2016 having 4 anime confirmed to have a 10k average. Koiyomimongatari, Love Live Sunshine, UtaPri S4 and Touken Ranbu. B-Project has a high chance depending on how the later volumes hold up, Re Zero, I don't think will hold over the volumes, and nothing else has a chance. There could possibly be dark horses in Fall season, which would make 2016 better, but it is truly a sad year for anime disc sales.
