Intense action as always, but some of the tension is lost just by how easily they end up defeating the thing. I mean, if nothing else the train should have been derailed by the combination of excess speed and the excess weight of the massive Kabane colony.

And then the series would be over since the surviving Kabane would swarm them. Not an option

is it just me or mumei went all eren in this episode?

funny to see that half of people in the train are all tsundere "it's not like i wanted to save you, but we needed to get that thing so"

atm the only redeemable thing the show has are the fgthing sequences, aand even those fall flat sometimes with the inconsistent animation.

and with this episode we find out that gaijin-san is just a japanese guy acting western. never thought i'd see a western weeb in a period setting

2/5 as always

I see. But the writers just backed themselves Into a corner, since they can't kill any relevant characters yet, not without developing them first, othewise the deaths would not be as impactful like in some of the scenes in AoT for example. So they have no option but to keep them surviving for now.

Never though Attack on naked people got impactful deadths.

More impactful than this show will ever acomplish if they don't develop some characters soon. Also, do you also think bad of AoT?

Now that was one exciting train ride.

The episode was pretty fun. Watching Mumei going through her own demons was interesting, but having Ikoma acting as bait was even better. I specially loved his reaction when she found him, telling her not to move him because the Kabane had bit through his stomach. Makes you wonder if he now has superhuman healing abilities or whether he's gonna have to graft a plate to his abdomen so that the rest of his guts don't spill out.

Also loved how the main players on the train are now so trusting of Ikoma and Mumei, first following her plan to break down the monster mass, and second when Kurusu finally trusted Ikoma's inventions enough to actually use the katana.

Now I'm looking for some progress in their journey next episode. Hopefully they'll actually reach their destination soon.

It is not really mentioned but it mentions how the Dutch are the ones Japan trades most since they are allowed to trade even during the period of closed country. Also in Samurai Champloo there is this Dutch guy that moved there because Japanese were more liberal with their sexuality and he was gay.

With that video you don't even notice 9 minutes have passed.

True, obviously not an option, otherwise we'd have nothing to watch. But in all honesty that's what would actually happen. Hell, if we get some meaningful deaths down the line because of everyone surviving here, I'll shut up and happily accept it.

It seems that they already announced that KnK will have only 12 eps :(
We need more seasons!!!
Ikoma was the badass in this episode, the way he fought for Mumei! She was so weak in this and previous episodes, but Ikoma is showing who he really is, a complete badass xD
That ending!!! Epic! Mumei's jump + OST= <3
And then Ikoma needs to catch her xD

I love Mumei. I can see they at least tried to portray her as the inmature child she is. Now I just have to pray they don't screw her up later on.

The CGI on the beast was pretty weird. Very plastic-like for what is supposed to be. Just a visual complain and nothing to really mind.

The action was cool, the train push scene was hilarious. Pretty entertaining episode.

Like, no

A single train car like that would weigh like 20 tons at the very least

That really depends on how many passengers they have on board. We saw a handful, but they're carrying the refugees of a town. I got a (very) rough count of about 75 adults, not counting the children or any of the mechanics still working on the train. (From episode 3 when they got off the train) so giving them an average weight of 150 pounds, they would be able to throw around a little over 11 tons themselves. Still not as much as a train car, but it's definitely not nothing.

But anyway, my favorite part of the episode had to be the catch scene, because of the little details they put into the animation.

Even made a gif of it.

@StevePen387

I didn't get what had you worried, but ... what I see from the map is basically this - the purple lines signify the railroad for steam-trains. The red/orange lines - the maintenance crane and the connections b/w other construction facilities. The green lines depict the spiral of the central ore mostly; aside the main ore in the center, there are two extensions to the respective entrances/exits.

The entrances/exits are only two. There's one rail-crossing, which would either allow a train to move forward (or backward) directly between the entrances/exits after the quarantine zones, and a big loop (on the highest walls), where a train has to make a complete circle of the station and leave it only by the entrance where Kotetsujo came from.

Apparently, the direction of the gates is west-east. As far as the map is concerned, I can assure you it didn't change throughout the last two episodes - they showed in from various points.

The jib of the crane lies on the tracks that could lead to the other side of the station. This is why they were discussing whether to go back in episode 5, because it was the only possible maneuver, in case the jib couldn't be removed.

inb4 people taking this episode too seriously

it was a great episode overall imo. some few flashback from Mumei. it was pretty good imo. but Mumei's characterization felt kinda weird to me. but i still enjoyed and like this episode.

^
GOD.....!!!DAMN!!!
my jaw dropped when i saw her muscles on her back. that was awsome (?) no, it was rather cool to me. damn, it suprised me well xD
first half was pretty good imo. the second half was great, awsome and intense with the soundtrack and action. so Kabaneri can fused, become one like that because of one certain Kabane. LOL, then kabane is like Zombie with esper power then xD

Mumei x Ikoma. Kabaneri x Kabaneri. i wonder what will happen to the baby.......that's the main question of this series, isn't it ?

and it's really sad that this anime only get 12 eps. i wonder how the staff will handle it. i really doubt they really ended it with only one series.
looking foward for the next episode :D

Is it just me or the monster design wasn't very original?

Two things bothered me about this episode. Or three. Okay, four.
1. Ikoma after battle: He can't move from the pain. Then he gets up and they run out. Call of Duty speed of regeneration. Rest for 5 seconds and you're good. I expected his guts spilling out Araragi-style when he said (according to HS): "...bit right through my stomach".
2. Why not try the piercing gun on the rock? I think it might have cracked.
3. Why accelerate when you're trying to get the monster closer to the gun? And when it's already on top of the train?
4. PUSHING ON THE WALL FROM THE INSIDE, OMG. HOW AM I GONNA SHOW THIS EPISODE TO MY DAD NOW? IT'S EMBARRASSING! This is the only anime ever that he liked. I'm disappoint.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of this show. But it seems like it's losing steam. Budget seems to be running out too... I'm getting worried, because the first 4 eps were just so good!

1. Well, Mumei was helping him. I think Ikoma may have made his damage sound a bit worse than it actually was.
2. I was thinking he should try that, too. Maybe he thought he would risk hurting her if he did?
3. I think this was mainly a communication problem. Mumei wanted Takumi to wait until it was close to shoot but most of the others didn't want it to catch up.
4. To be fair, the idiot guy was the one who yelled push, and not everyone was actually pushing.

Anyway, I'm sure your dad will still enjoy it. :) I don't think these things are such big problems that he wouldn't. My dad thought this was the best episode yet.

1. Probably, but you can see his cape had a hole and blood in his stomach. So might not be a lie... Which is a bit hard to believe to say the least.
2. well pulling the rock with a motor was just as dangerous. Did you see how he was pulling it? If he succeeded, that rock would of fell right on Mumei's head and smashed her! At that range his gun wouldn't miss, unless it's not rifled... Even then that's pretty unlikely. Though not like it would of cracked the rocks.
3. I thought so too, though I did find it odd nonetheless.
4. They all seem to be animated as pushing... They all were like leaning on to it with a constipated face as if trying to push the wall or something out their bottom -_-

To the ones that have a problem with the train "pushing" scene

I think everyone is over reacting to the pushing scene. YES, pushing does not help in the slightest, BUT the act of pushing was what we could call an "human effort". People do tend to do extra unecessary stuff when trying to acomplish something they don't know exactly how to, specially in critical situations. That was a first for most people in the train and they were all just following Ayame's orders to beggin with, so they pushed not knowing if it makes a difference or not, just hoping whatever they did would work. Also keep in mind that science/physics is not something that people keep in mind too often, again, specially in critical situations.

At last, just think, if we can manage to talk about physics here, don't you think the writters of the show also do? They're not stupid, they know pushing the train doesn't change a thing, which reinforces my statements, the train people pushed the train as a hopeful "human effort", and the writters made them do it to show that they were all doing their best to save themselves.

Now i hope that people read this message. And please feel free to rebut it if you still think there's something wrong with the scene in question or my statements.

Well, I noticed a little things in this episode:

1 - How is that Mumei and Ikoma were in different places after the collapsed if we already saw in the previous episode that he was charging her when when the zone collapsed? They should have been stuck together.

2 - How is possible that they could straighten the train? This has no sense. And please don't give me the excuse that the train was going fast, the train
weighs tons and they weights pounds.
