It did really well

no surprises about the top 2

Vanitas no carte with 25k is a bit disappointing though

Nanatsu no taizai basically repeating the sales of the first week on the second week

SnK and One Piece have about 200.000 sales less than normal. Is that a coincidence or are there still sales missing because of the earthquake?

Damn that's a significant drop for AoT. Volume 19 sold in 17 days less than what volume 13 sold in 5 days. Hopefully the second season of the anime will bring it back to its prime.

It's the same for one piece as well. I find it odd that it drop all of a sudden especially when it's back to its action pack volume. Well, let's see how long this volume will last on this list. Not to mention the fact that the anime ended 3 years ago and all of a sudden it's now loosing significant sales in 2016? That doesn't make any sense.

The next list covers Golden week so I expect both SnK and One Piece to cover some ground compared to previous volumes.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

I don't think it's a coincidence. Both snk and on piece sells more than every other manga, which means they both has buyers that don't usually buys manga. I feel the regular buyers that didn't buy snk also didn't buy one piece volume as well. Both series were selling great especially a few month ago.

Now all of a sudden both series drop in sales at the same exact time? I think there's more to this.

Or maybe buyers of these series didn't enjoy the last volume of both these series and decided not to buy it??? I find that hard to believe especially with that cliffhanger in volume 18. If snk was to drop in sales it would've already drop during the uprising arc, but it didn't.

The LN sales also look rather dim compared to previous weeks. I'm pretty sure it has to do something with the earthquake. LN and manga is probably the last thing some people have on their mind.

Give it a few weeks and the sales should overall grow again.

If those number are correct, shingeki dropped a bit more than 170k:

1,643,997-1,347,341= 296656

So Taizai just had a slow start last week, I thought it really fell to Magi's level....

I'm starting to think the earthquake isn't the reason SnK and One Piece are selling so slowly, Anyone got a comparison to their previous volume,

Both series had a slow start on its debut and that was before the earthquake, so I don't think the earthquake is the main cause here either. So it's either fans of both series coincidently didn't like the previous volume and choose not to buy the current volume or something else we don't know of is affecting the sales of these two series.

Seriously though, i don't remember Kingdom selling this much before last year. Then all of a sudden last year, it got a HUGE boost, and there wasn't an anime for it or anything, so i'm wondering where the boost came from?
Unless i'm remembering wrong and it's always sold this good.

Either way, i love Kingdom, so more sales for it is amazing.

Kingdom wrecking everything, very nice to see! Also another Terraformars released this month and selling pretty well. Nice seeing Sinbad no Bouken doing so well too, it's got to be one of the best spinoffs out there. And Boku no Heros boost is pretty decent but not at the level I was expecting. Hopefully it will go up a bit more once the anime picks up the starts animating the good stuff.

I totally agree.

As for Wotaku, if it ever gets an anime, the only voice actor I could imagine voicing the main male lead is Fukuyama Jun.

I don't think anyone had any hopes for it to reach OP's sales (at least not anyone reasonable), but the boost so far definitely seems smaller than what I was expecting. The threshold this week wasn't exactly low, though and looking at the weekly manga series sales it seems BNHA's backlog volumes sold 19k on average, which is decent.
It does seem as if those who were skeptical about its potential will end up being right, though. Naruto numbers are out of the question and even reaching Haikyuu and Tokyo Ghoul's level is probably a stretch.

At this rate it will be lucky to reach OPM's level. I hope it does because it deserves to and I want to believe it will get a slight boost later on, because nothing of note has really happened in the anime yet. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Curious as to why the anime itself isn't doing so well. In the west, it's been extremely popular, to the point of getting a broadcast dub along with the DVD dub.

I haven't really been following because I've been struggling to get into the manga, but how are the production values of the anime? And how faithful has it been to the manga?

Rather surprised by the (lack of) massive boost by the series.

Have you got sales number for naruto when it was only 8 volumes in?

I don't think there is any but we do know the print numbers of Naruto when it only had 6 volumes and it was 5 million copies in print.

My hero academia boost has been really underwhelming. we thought it would be the next one piece or naruto and it seems it will be 500k seller.

It also doing badly on TV Rating lowest in Nichigo history the first episode was 1.9

The first episode of Star Driver scored a 1.2 so you're wrong on that regard. Second episode seem to have fared better with a 2.4, I guess the speculations that it was because of IBO's piss poor performance that caused the viewership to drop were true and it rose a bit after it ended. Can't comment on manga sales since these things just tend to be a crapshoot all things considered, always seems whenever there's a push campaign its met with dismal results yet shit like Tokyo Ghoul was an unexpected hit.

What is with that excuse? Blue Exorcist aired after Star Driver and the first episode debuted with a rating of 4.1 and the second with 3.4.

That was five years ago. You're the same idiot that keeps bringing that up as evidence for anything on /a/ as well. I'm just going by what's being said on yaraon and 2ch especially since subsequent episodes tend to decrease not increase and to show how baseless your argument is Basara S2 debuted with a 5.3 and had a huge drop in the subsequent episodes that towards the end of its run it had the fourth lowest average in the block's history.

How is that even remotely relevant?

Ok now you're losing me here

Again how is that relevant to IBO ruining Boku no hero's performance? You're not explaining anything here.

Ratings patterns for Nichigo has changed a lot since then and has never been consistent so saying that the performance of one show dictates how another should do is unethical especially when it aired 5 years prior to it.

Denying it only makes you looks stupider.

How is Blue Exorcist performance relevant to IBO or BnHA? Actually I did. Gave two examples of how using that as a rebuttal is pointless. And even in the link you provided it showed how Arslan 2.4 last episode ratings effected IBOs premiere which was the lowest Gundam ratings on the block.

Now you're putting words in my mouth. Please cite exactly where I made the claim that BnHA will continue to perform badly. In case you try to out words in my mouth again, what I initially stated and meant was that IBO's "bad" performance has nothing to do with BnHA's first episode performance. There is no evidence that backs up your claim here.
Denying it only makes you looks stupider.

Am I missing a joke here?
How is Blue Exorcist performance relevant to IBO or BnHA?

It shows that your claim is false since Blue Exorcist had a good start despite Star driver's shit ratings. But hey before you bring up your excuse that it was a long time ago then let me remind you that Gundam AGE's last episode had a rating of 1.4 and Magi's first episode still started well with a rating of 3.8.
Actually I did. Gave two examples of how using that as a rebuttal is pointless.

They were irrelevant to the argument here.

That doesn't really prove anything when you look at Haikyuu's last episode which also had 2.4 and yet Nanatsu no Taizai still started well with a rating of 4.9. By the way, this happened in 2014.
