Joe has done some pretty bad things but what this Wolf prick just did is unacceptable. Beating up little kids because they were spying on you and stuffing their unconscious bodies in a car's trunk? That's just fucked up. Hope Joe kicks his ass real good.

Firstly, Ashita No Joe is the first anime that transformed the hate into love for just an episode. I thought the kids were real annoying and stupid to do that, I ws really going too far and thought that the author was implying the the brats would play an important role to the match between Joe and this prick called Wolf. But no, that was a great set up for the match, I hope Joe kicks this guy's ass, I fucking hate him.

While I feel bad for the kids, I still can't see how they are supposed to be likable in any way.

I was like, no way they're going to bust out with that but they totally did.

They really did bust out that music. I laughed just cuz of that, haha.

I love how they showed up covered in bruises. Truly intimidating.

That was a great moment.

I have to say though, sometimes I feel like this show's pacing is a little bit too fast. Going straight from Wolf returning the kids to the beginning of the fight? Seems pretty rushed if you ask me.
At the same time though, I'm hyped for the fight that's about to take place.

Wolf was despicable, even if they tried spying him, a man doesn't beat someone weaker than him.
Joe is gonna destroy him!

Did a pro boxer really beat up a bunch of kids? Wolf is the worst kind of trash.

I think Wolfs announcement that he's gonna throw out a left straight, makes it more likely that he's indeed a Switch Hitter.

But why are Joe and the others covered with bruises, tho, did he spar with Danpei and Nishi at the same time to get used to attacks from both sides ?

I do not get the hate for Wolf. Those kids really bring the show down in my opinion, I was happy he beat them up.

Wolf went too far there, but the kids definitely shouldn't have gone to spy his training.

I'm super hyped for Joe vs Wolf, looks like Joe trained really hard, he, Nishi and Danpei are all bruised, woah.

Mission Impossible? Wow, that really cements Ashita no Joe's time of creation. The original Mission Impossible televisions series is from 1966, while Ashita no Joe was made between 1970-1971. Interesting stuff. Also, I think this is the real first time that Joe is fighting for someone other than himself. This is...really different.

WOW Wolf an asshole, surprised they didn't go to court, however, it be rigged anyways because the kids went in without permission and the kids from the slums so they don't have any money.

What Wolf did to the kids was unexpected but certainly effective in terms of storytelling. And i hate those kids but just the visual in my head of him beating up one kid after the other is something way more vile than i thought this show was willing to go. He had them in the trunk of his car!

Is it villainous to an over the top extent? Maybe... There's nothing "clean" about the world of this show though. And for the first time i'm truly rooting for Joe to succeed and Joe is finally fighting for something other than his own hubris. And that translated into a new level of dedication, effort and some badass bruising.

That was definitely a good buildup episode, it built up great tension for the fight.

Spying or not, beating children up like that was just horrible, but I guess that was like throwing oil at a fire in Joe's case, now he has a reason to utterly despise the man.

The kids snuck up to Asia Gym to try and spy on Wolf's secret training, but they get caught and beat up by Wolf instead.

This unforgivable act sets Joe's heart on fire to beat Wolf.

When the match is about to start Joe, Danpei and Nishi appear on the ring all bruised.

What a match this is going to be

I was expecting Taro to cop a beating from Wolf since he was the biggest of the kids and even Joe beat on him a bit during the first chapter. A pro boxer beating up on all of the little rugrats, Sachi included though? Didn't see that coming. It's honestly so evil I almost consider it cartoonish. Realistically kids that age and size should die from taking punches from a pro boxer. This just makes Wolf seem like less of a threat as a boxer and by extension anyone who has competitive fights with him.

I can't imagine any boxer, regardless of how bad of a person they might be, lowering themselves so much as to "spar" with children and knock them TFO lol. The fact that they were bruised all over implies they were hit more than once. The more you think about it, the more ridiculous it is. Even the most heinous antagonist from Hajime no Ippo never stooped that low. This plot point makes us want to see Wolf beat up more but it also brings all of the boxers down a peg imo. Not worth it, too over the top.

Wolf beating up little kids was poor storytelling. It turned him into a cartoon villain, too evil to be credible, and moreover it took away the tension from the boxing match, because after this there's no way that Joe could lose.

Overall I feel that the quality of the series has dipped since Joe became a pro, largely because it's not about character development anymore. Instead the series is about Joe's rise to the top, and so far it's following a typical sports anime formula in which the protagonist really can't lose, and if for a moment things look difficult, he'll prevail because willpower can overcome any obstacle, even if it should be physically impossible to rise again after being beaten senseless.

I'm glad Joe found some real motivation to push him to practice and get seriously ready for the match.

Damn, Wolf really sending everyone to infirmary. But that is deplorable. Why would you beat children? Geez.

And that end ⊙_⊙
Holy shit, seems like they did a really rough training there. Really excited for this intense fight!
