So, Gintama seems to have LE and RE for both the BD and the DVD? Cool.

Also, why the BD section is cut at top 10? Why not top 20? I mean, is there a specific reason - like the week sales add too little to be reported?

I wasn't expecting it to sell well, but it's still a bit saddening. Well, could have been worse though.

I guess this limited edition makes it harder to tell exactly how good the overall sales were, right? Even so, it's below what I expected but still good sales. And it might be even better considering it was the studio's first TV series.

All good numbers. Symphogear is starting to get consistent with the 6k. I hope it lasts until the final volume.

Also wow....SUPER sonico...

**1位/**1位 ★ (***,**0 pt) [*,*10予約] 14/04/02 Madoka Rebellion.
**2位/**3位 ★ (***,**0 pt) [*,**0予約] 14/03/19 Super Sonico.

I will not be surprised at all if it overthrows Madoka to #2. Madoka has been on pre-order on aniplex days before it started on amazon. I though it would be sekai seifuku who had hit the gold, looks like I was wrong.
It will be also interesting how the next volumes of sonico will do.

As of last week, Machine Doll v1 sold 5800 copies (Bluray + DVD) and on Thursday it will hopefully add on a few more. 6K would be nice! It is a great package BTW, lots of bonuses. I only hope v2 doesn't drop too much with less bonuses...

Maybe Kaoishin is right and KyoAni has those super-loyal fans after all, KnK was almost the worst show of the season after all and still casually sells over 5k. And poor Kyousougiga, I never got on with the hype about it on MAL, but I still think it deserves better than a measly 1k :(
I probably regret this post by now.

Anime wasn't that bad either. Especially last three episodes.

But well, KnK has zero chance of getting close to Fall's top6 (IS2, KnB 2, Arpeggio, KLK, NNB, Refrain) and can end up below Yowamushi, UMD, StB.

Kill la Kill selling 8.7k for the first week? Hmm that was to be expected since it's so popular.

KnK selling 3k +? Yes! I hope that it wouldn't break 4k, so that KyoAni could realize that they shouldn't be sticking to what they've been doing all the time. Same style, same thing, nothing new.

And, what the.. One Piece managed to get ranked.. -.-!

I expect KNK to average 3-3.5k once all volumes are out, so around Tamako levels which sounds about right. Before it aired I never imagined it would sell below my 5k estimate, let alone Tamako levels, but hey it happens. I just hope this doesn't discourage KyoAni from doing more shows with actual, serious plot.

With that said, I'm eager to see what new show they announce once Chuunibyou 2nd season ends. Aside from the inevitable Free 2nd season announcement, their next show should be a new IP since that's been their thing now. The works in their KyoAni awards are a good place to start when looking at their next potential new anime.

Kyousogiga proves once again that Japanese otaku don't want their anime to be intellectual and sophisticated.

I guess KlK isn't such a hit as I expected it to be, though it's doing quite well nonetheless.

BTW, I'd like to see a full list of how well the Summer and Fall shows have been doing so far, as I find it hard to keep track of the show I'm interested in, especially when some don't show up on the weekly lists.

KnK was a lot of wasted potential. It failed to live up to the expectations many people had, and the sales reflect that. Right now, I suspect only KyoAni's hardcore fanbase is interested in this show, while everyone else deemed it not worth their money.

So by your logic KNK is the same thing as K-ON, Chuunibyou, Tamako, etc. Not new at all. It's just the same comedy/slice of life/cute girls doing cute things show.

Considering you dropped the show half way, you couldn't be more wrong. It didn't sell well because the plot ( which was its main focus. You would have known that if you actually watched it ) was mediocre. It's ok though, hating on something and being wrong is the cool thing to do nowadays.

Don't be hating on me, and don't accuse me of hating on the show. I just simply dislike it, and I never even bash it anywhere. Don't be comparing me with the haters.

Let's get onto the topic, while it might've gotten more serious later on, KyoAni's obsession with turning every show they ever made into.. some sort of fanservice is really bad. I dropped it after 6 episodes, and.. is that idol singing dancing part really necessary? They could've done something else, but hey, it's KyoAni. Don't even try to misunderstand me, I enjoyed K-On, Chuunibyou, Hyouka, and a lot of their show, you might want to check out my list for confirmation though.

P.S. That "turning every show they made" statement was just an exaggeration, but you get my gist, somehow, I think..

What are you smoking? I wish KyoAni turned even just a single of their shows into fanservice with their cute designs and godly animation. We get one episode at the very most.
Well, there is one exception - Free! - fanservice since before the premier till after second season ends or something. Not my cup of tea though.

I don't mind them doing fanservices for the show that seems like it will be, but does KnK seems to be a show for fanservices to you? Like I said, I liked Chuunibyou and K-On, and because of what they are, all the cute shit feels in place. I love NNB, the cuteness just felt right in a SoL comedy show, but let's say, put that kind of fanservice in Naruto, -.-!

Ok, so you're not a hater as you say. That's great.

Back OT: The idol ep was one ep. Some would call it a breather ep in plot oriented shows which is what it was - a plot driven show. You said yourself they shouldn't be sticking to the same style, same thing, and it was nothing new, when the show is the complete opposite of those.

You dropped it half way which was enough for you to decide that the show must be the same as the others they've done, all because of what.. the idol ep? The char designs? The cute girls? So despite the show focusing heavily on plot from the beginning ( which they haven't done since what, the Disappearance movie? ), the idol ep must have been the last straw which was confirmation to you that the show was, and I quote "Same style, same thing, nothing new".

That's just silly.

Yeah, but in that case every show was fanservice since the very beginning, none of them was turned into it. KyoAni's shows don't change the mood in the middle. Still doesn't make sense in my eyes, no matter how I look at what ToG25thBaam said.

Looking at KnK, you could just immediately tell that it's KyoAni's product, there are a lot of instances where the girls were show to be really cute from their action. It's hard to explain but some of their recent show somewhat share a similarity, was it the comedy style, was it the animation style, was it the art, or was it anything else, I can't really be sure, but I just have that sort of feelings. I don't mean only the plot and story.

I think everyone will have a slightly different opinion on what is appropriate, and that's fine.

Myself, I look at timing. A lot of generally serious shows have a few lighter comedic episodes, and I'm okay with that for the most part, as long as it doesn't come in the middle of a very serious arc/episode that's supposed to be really tense or somber. If it's a breather episode, especially if it's coming between arcs, I'm more likely to be okay with a silly story. Just as long as it gets back to serious when a serious atmosphere is appropriate.

I don't really mind some comedic moments too, but for some reason I find the MC's obsession with glasses to be forced, some cute moments were forced, and also the brother's sis-con trait. I have no idea why.

Because they wanted to be Shaft but failed.

How is that in any way related to Shaft?

My only problem and only knowledge of Shaft is that they always cut and switch scenes, it worked fine with the Monogatari series (and maybe the other one that aired recently, one with the brother that never show his face), but not the others imo, and this is the main reason why I couldn't bring myself to finish Dance in the Vampire Bund, and it's only 2 episodes away from the last episode. ~.~

You really can't see the connection? To me it's obvious author of KnK wanted to write humor similar to Nisio's Monogatari but lacked the talent do so.

Haha wow. The Super Sonico LE is sold out on Amazon already. They aren't even taking more orders right now.

Must have been a very limited run, though unless they're completely insane and hate money I imagine they're scrambling to expand the initially planned shipment size. Bikini figure power.

You'd think they'd know how a figurine with its release would be... unless this is really just a LE edition after all
