Prior to downloading the torrent, I did some research and knew that Kujibiki Unbalanced was a sister series of sorts. The torrent I used also provided three episodes of Kujibiki Unbalanced; I decided not to download those three episodes, just the twelve for Genshiken. So, when the intro for Kujibiki Unbalanced aired, I was freaking out and swearing four ways to Sunday and then some. I tripled checked the file, thinking that I accidentally downloaded the wrong file to find that I was playing the correct file, then I thought that the translators mislabelled the file and perhaps the "real" episode was one of those I didn't download. I was two seconds away in closing the Media Player to start downloading those three files I didn't download, when I realised that it was Sasahara watching Kujibiki Unbalanced. I slammed my head on my desk, swore, laughed at myself and restarted the episode, this time without the nervous breakdown. I enjoyed it immensely! |

| Well, I suppose I'm the only one who figured out I was watching some Kujibiki Unbalanced, because I read about it earlier. I definitely liked this episode, it was really funny. |
| I wasn't thrown off. Only because I've read the manga, though. And I have to say, the first episode is just as good as the manga. lmao at Sasahara's embarrassment. |

| personally, from watching the 1st episode, i found it very very boring - nothing much happened, and its not my kind of humour - didnt find it funny at all. i hadto force myself to finish wathing the 1st episode. maybe itll get better after the 1st, but i dont wanna go through that again - *drops anime* course this is only my opinion :D |

| The intro threw me off as well, but once I did realise I was watching the right thing, I really enjoyed it. ^_^ It's got a lot of my kinda humour, and I'd like to see where it's going. Genshiken episode two now! |

| I had to come here to make sure i was watching the right thing opening totally threw me off. Anyways good episode, found it to be pretty funny. Should be a good series. |

| Aha! Thank you MAl! I've been looking for this first series for a while now and this website gave me a hint as to where to look! I watched S2 a fair old while back off DBsubs (heady days), loved it so much, I went and read the manga as I saw it on Mangafox! Now, finally, I have S1 animated! Oh god yes! All my dreams have come true! I can't emphisise how much watching genshiken at uni affected my life, and when I watched it after graduating, it really made me think of the days I had at university, and how they are now gone. Now I get to relive a bit of it through this first series. I'm goona love it! |

| I remember the first time I watched this anime's 1st episode (I myself was actually in college!) and my buddy and I watched it and I immediately was kinda like "oh boy, another moe, cutesy kiddy character design show" but that was just the intro to Kujibiki Unbalance they threw in to throw us (the audience off) since then we saw good ol' Sasahara staring back at us and thus letting the audience know we were just watching what the character was watching (well played, anime...well played). THEN, the ACTUAL show started and there was much walking and scenic shots of the college campus...it wasn't until Sasahara got caught snooping through the clubroom did I finally get attached. By the end of ep, it was good that he kinda man'd up by asking the rest of the gang to show him how to play an adult video game, but overall, I felt it was a so-so for a first ep and maybe wouldn't grab nearly as many viewers right from the get-go, but hey, it was enough to get me hooked. |

| I like the 1st episode. And of course, I was also thrown off by the 1st scene. I then scanned the rest of the episode to make sure I am watching the correct one. Haha. Not much happened but I like their group. And it was funny when he was caught! Poor boy... |

| Nice KujiUn opening but so far rest of anime is so-so, manga is better and more funnier. I hope it improves in the next episode. At least this ending scene, Kousaka is pretty oblivious of Saki :D |

| Oh boy, that opening literally made me think "this is the wrong anime, but this looks interesting too." Talk about duped, that was a good first impression being trolled like that :p. The first episode is alright but not really feeling it yet. |

| Lol, that OP threw me off too. I laughed hella hard when he looked under the skirt and got busted. That was super funny. The figure that he looked under the skirt was Suzumiya Haruka from Kimi ga Nozomu Eien. Good episode! I'm gonna enjoy this! |

| I recognized Kujibiki Unbalance. Hell, there's an entry here in MAL. Damn that faked me out. Anyways, this is already different from other anime featuring otaku, or at least for the first episode. The typical eccentricity and social ineptness isn't played up, and the tendency to fanboy and drool over perverted stuff isn't overdone. The club members themselves don't sound like blithering idiots either. They seem like chill folk who enjoy a good anime, try to figure out how anime work, but can still show off their eroge knowledge without blinking an eye. Furthermore, rather than parodying popular stuff or things made within the past decade, it references obscure stuff which I had to actually look up. Rather than appealing to a base and general demographic, this show seems to really dig up stuff that only hardcore anime fans would know. I mean, Flower Girl Lunlun, really? Genshiken isn't messing around here. |
| Whew. glad I'm not the only one who got fooled. This series seems like a super anime fan quiz to all the references. I like that they don't go to the extreme stereotypes for each person. A happy balance is such a good thing. |

| Anime about Otaku. Otaku image is nerd, eye glass, ugly and fat but there is one member that is handsome. That was a nice strategy to observe what will first timer do at the club room when he is alone. Nice one!! Im otaku so hope this series to be good. ED song is similar to Ika Musume though. 3.7/5 |
